The P stands for PHONE because you could use this as a speaker when someone calls you, or if you want to make a call. The normal JBL On Stage III can't do this, so it's an On Stage III + Phone function.

Very useful episode. However, you don't need a storage compartment for the remote - the carry bag included in the package has pockets for the remote and power adapter as well.

the 'P' in the model number indicates it works with iphone.

you see, phones have radio interference which makes a noise with speakers and amplifiers. that is why this model has a special electromagnetic shielding and perhaps a price premium
