  • the video starts out like it's going to be a Jim Carrey comedy skit

  • This video is worth a thousand words. Funny, clever, and educational all at once; new favorite!

  • i can't see anymore these knee straps :)

  • totaly noobs

  • This is goofy and awesome. Excellent choice of music.

  • Haha. I love how the heel-striker is practically jumping up with each stride. I remember when I ran long distance that way, like in 8th grade, lol.

  • Stupid and corny but still accurate.

  • lol

  • hi, thanks for the great videos. i used to be very athletic but i had a baby two years ago, i haven't run since then, and now i've completely forgotten how! my core is completely out of tune, so am i supposed to be sucking in my stomach when i run prose?

  • @hellopatita no sucking in the stomach when running pose. Just lean forward with your entire body (i.e. do not bend at waist).

  • @hellopatita Same with me! My core is so weak that Ive developed a slight sway in my lower back. Just walking around my local Costco knocks me out for a day. Any idea if this barefoot running stuff will be safe on my back?

  • @KVandendriessche you should start with just walking barefoot and doing strength exercises. If your core is weak - that's the first thing you should start working on - strengthening your core. If simply walking around brings you THAT much discomfort you need to address it asap. There is no quick fix, start working to help yourself.

  • @posetv Adding towhat posetv said, a sway in the lower back can just aswell be a result of tension, getting rid of the uneciaserry tension will activate core muscles in daily activity, a good way to get rid of this tension, and not "collapse" is to break unoconscious habits that shortens the spine in daily activities, most people actually initatiate movements with uneciaserry tension.

alexander technique has worked for me.

  • @KVandendriessche I find questions like this quite baffling at times. like what do people think life was like before shoes existed?? people didnt run? of course its good for you man its our design. shoes are something that came around after the fact. bare feet are better than shoes cause our feet are designed like shock absorbers.

  • @aguguwin @aguguwin Um, thanks for helping? I thought your snide response dripping in sarcasm to be especially helpful for the novice, out-of-shape runner wondering if it help or hurtful.

  • Absolutely love the 80's music <3 Great vid too!

  • hahahaha.. an oscar winning performance

  • Hilarious. :-)

  • I just bought the book and am waiting for its delivery. I've been a heel striker in my eight years of running and can manage marathon distances. I modified my running form to pose (from what I can gather on the net) and averaged 30 seconds faster per mile on my 15K, but the day after, my achilles put me out of commission for 2 weeks. I've read that pose running may be unsustainable for marathon distances. Anyone's thoughts?

  • of course its sustainable. your achilles hurts because you tried to adjust too quickly

  • @powderski11 i absorbed the book and stopped running and did the drills. i cheated and did a 5k on some racing flats and its fucking magic. plus i get to work on swimming form and road bike work in the meantime. i recommend this to anyone out there.

  • don't run 9 miles at race pace with a different stride. You can certainly prose marathon - world class runners get closer to prose the further distances that they race. I prose a sub 2:44 marathon.

  • Okay, so what are these 'drills'? I get the idea that you lean forward with your feet landing beneath to behind you? And your head to your feet as aligned Is this correct? Would I have a hard time going for a run like this tomorrow without practicing the drills?

  • Would you have a hard time playing the piano tomorrow without practicing it first? All depends on your skill level doesn't it?

  • @posetv True. But how do I practice this?

  • one of simpler ways would be to lightly jump rope barefoot. It would give you a good idea of how to land on your feet.

  • You're not supposed to stretch before a run

  • .... not static stretches anyway (like these up-to jogging in place)

  • The other guy looks like hes just waving his legs :D

  • dude, this was posted in 2008 but it's like an 80's video, oh man classic

  • love retro :P

  • haha, dude, lose the head band, you suck as an actor, but i love the message.

    Bravo!

  • Really funny, but so true... sadly!
