@rosslkendall This is just one teaching. It is not exclusive of definition and colour. It is a teaching on the direct perception of at first the contents of the mind and also the mind itself as an object. Without the latter, there is only partial appreciation of definition and colour. At times he sounds like Morpheus from The Matrix, but not as Morpheus as Agent Smith is to Carl Sagan. When he says the word "very"... it's like Morpheus from the first Matrix movie. "Very real" -.deep male voice.-
Very powerful teachings Patrick. You're an excellent teacher. I attended the 1986 Vajradhatu seminary with both you and Ken Wilber.
I'm just a bit uncomfortable that you're presenting these sacred teachings in such a public medium as Youtube. These teachings are a part of the Kagyu lineage and meant as an ear whispered transmission from guru to student depending on the preparedness and the trust of both parties. Just laying it out there in such a public forum opens it up to misunderstanding.
Perhaps I'm misunderstanding things without realizing, about the mahamudra tradition. Also, the user IntegralNaked has a 17 minute video called Mahamudra meditation with the tongue touching the roof of the mouth and all that. I did it and it was not bad at all, especially the screaming pah! pah! pah!, as to train to sustain awareness. Very effective. I can't begin to comprehend further, without training in Mahamudra more, though. Perhaps he's doing his best to avoid confusion among the audience.
Dear sir red27sun, please after you have crossed the stream, remember to leave the canoe on the banks. It seems you are walking around carrying
the canoe on your back, its quite tiring no? Please drop all the dissections and big words, they only serve to hinder your journey. Please forgive my ignorance sir.
Pot causes an altered state, instead of a meditative state. Still, medical pot can be used for experimentation, upon permission to use it legally of course. I haven't tried the latter, but perhaps I will when I go to Holland in the far future, provided the muslims will not have taken over Europe. I'm in Europe by the way.
most people live in alterd states there entire life, called egoic states of consiousness. the only un alterd state of consiousness is the mystical moment of enlightnment, where you just ARE.. the ONE. Cannabis can help people break free from ego :) and psycedelics can induce mystical expirences and Ego death :)
I agree, ut not qith the terminology. I think that meditation and use of psychedelics and marijuana create altered states (compared to 'normal' egoic consciosuness). These altered and meditative states are far less compressed and closed than the ego. Ego death is not the thing to do, because that can actually be harmful. Instead, I'd prefer to transcend and imclude the ego so that it is happy and it is not a danger to me and everyone and it is not getting special treatent at the same time.
He uses the term "soul" here twice...I'd like to know what he is refering to when he says this, as I don't think I've ever heard that term used in a Buddhist context. Anyone?
Pot certainly does help me "let go." LoLs I couldn't help myself. Sorry...

How do you view the world? Black and white (dualistic), without any useful definition (non-dualistic), or with definition and colour?
This teaching is an appealing lie.

Nonduality is a word with a flexible definition. Nonduality is an inclusive definition. Definition and color are objects, shadows of subjects. :=)

Dismantel the karmic, emotional, cognitive obsurations. Study with a worthy teacher. And rest in humility as the true nature of pure mind.

ALABASTEROLDSOUL: Hi. You are right. Soul here refers to 'consciousness'.. impersonal consciousness.
Namaste'
Satori1800 3 years ago
@alabasteroldsoul He means the inherent observer/actor when he refers to the "soul."
