  • Duffey!

  • @wedgeclamp, I gotta disagree. VEHEMENTLY. That damn electric bass makes them sound like the LRB, who'd sound better with an upright. If you're gonna plug in the bass, let Mike play his Zumsteel. (Full disclosure: Tom's my dad. Doesn't change my opinion on the ebass. If I play Dobro, I want a doghouse behind me)

  • "Worldly attractions don't thrill me..." says it all.

  • 2ndFRET - you are right. We came from Charlottesville several Monday nights to see the C. Gentlemen at the Shamrock on M Street about 1968. Linda Rondstadt, in her Stone Ponies days, was there one night, too. John Duffy will live forever.

  • Duffey ruled!! awesome, this was the best configuration of the seldom scene.

  • like eddie stubbs says, are there any questions>>>?

  • Agreed, 2ndfret. Nobody can sing 'Taking Mary Home' like John Duffey, either.

    Ken, Toronto

  • I agree John Duffy was the best om Bringing Mary Home/ I live is Northern Va. got to see John and the cointry Gentlemen many times at the Shamrock whe the Seldom Scene were formed and folled them all until his death John Duffey can never be replaced.

  • John Duffey is the best tenor singer ever no one can take it up there like him.

  • Wow, Did he get those pants at a Yard sale at DAVID lee Roths House. Me and my family play that song too. Check out one of my videos. Cold sheets of rain bluegrass jam. Thans Lou reid. Marshall Stevenson says hey.

  • man thats a great video , i always loved John Duffys great voice....thanks for posting this

  • Greatest pants in Bluegrass...

  • John Duffy loved breaking Bill Monroe's balls. He was fond of putting his hand over Bill's mouth when they sang harmony together and used to mock him by making funny faces when he sang. Although Bill wasn't entirely used to that sort of thing, he loved it and had a genuine affection for Duffy. John also deeply respected Monroe. Duffy was one in a million. We miss him for good reason. He was as good as they get...

  • i'll never forget when i saw the scene in huntington wv, camden park actually...monroe and hios group was coming on stage after the scene..duffey asked bill if he was getting any

  • @dogsee1 HAHA, id payed to seen that!

  • John Duffey - the heart and soul of the Seldom Scene!!

  • WHOW..............I miss you John no one can sing like you

  • Sweet!

  • millions of singers have nice tenor voices. john duffy knew how to use his voice to carry a direct message from his heart to ours. that is truly john's gift to all his listeners. as well each individual member of seldom scene had a rare chemestry that made the band as a whole simply great. thanks for the great video.

  • john could hit the high note like no other. Man I miss that soft but powerful voice. I have all thier albums. yes I said albums. not cds good ol 33 albums I miss them too.

  • this is the real beauty of music ...

    its heaven !

too bad John is gone now ..i would ve love to meet him ....

  • Never will be another like him. Always loved to hear him sing this song.

  • Great video. Look how far Duffey backs off from the mic in the second chorus. That guy was a powerhouse.

  • Holy cow is Duffey's tenor voice missed. What a wonderful video. Thank you so much for sharing !!!

  • Duffey had a unique voice that never failed to bring cold chills on me! I've followed that voice from Country Gentlemen days to the end. God bless you for sharing.
