  • When will we see a progress update?

  • @wboquist Not for a while unfortunately. Just too busy right now and I havent had a chance to work on it much :(

  • hiya wohne in leipzig

  • is it just gonna be a replica or is it gonna move around

  • @Rassoul44 It will move around.

  • thats awesome!!! me and my friend want to make some type of large scale tank (not motorized)....I have lots of questions....How do you do like the curved parts on the turret. also, what do you think would be a good substitute for tracts (they wont move). We were thinking about doing a 1/1 hetzer because its so small and simple but I dont know now.

  • @ww298kscope

The round parts like the barrel are PVC or steel, the back of the turret is made from about 8 pieces of plywood each roughly 2" wide then sanded in a smooth arc, the cupola is made of about 40 layers of 3/4" plywood. It looked like steps on the outside, then we sanded it smooth with a belt sander.

For tracks, it depends. Im assuming it would be outside, you could use wooden teeth bolted to rubber if you wanted, or bolted together. It depends on the level of detail you want

  • @Molotov1943 well for the tracks I just needed like rubber or something like that...Its not going to move . The tank is not going to have its weight on the tracks so we just need anything so its atleast not just road wheels. no detail is needed.

    -Matt

  • @ww298kscope Yeah that would probably work fine. You should check out Pwnisher 's page. He made one that fit over a truck, see what he used for tracks

  • @Molotov1943 the cardboard tank? and also, I meant where could I get the rubber? any COMMON ways of making track (not really links just something so its not just bare road wheels!!)

  • @ww298kscope Old Converyer belting is probably your best bet

  • @Molotov1943 where could it be found (sorry about the so many questions!) thanks!

  • @ww298kscope You would need to look around. Old manufacturing plants for example

  • @Molotov1943 What does the 3/4 mean?

  • @valttu94 3/4 scale or 75% of the size of a real one.

  • love the tank cant wate to see it im working on a 3/4 bantum jeep

  • @bunker551

    Thanks!

Thats awesome about the jeep, how far along are you?

  • @Molotov1943 Frame is sitting on the axles, front fenders, grill and a 12hp briggs, trying to get the transmission in now. Should have a video soon. It would look awesome next to your tank. I would like to do a stewart in the future.

  • @bunker551 Sounds like its really coming along!

  • how did you weld the cupola? Nails? Glue? :D

  • @barraki150 Screws and lots of glue.

  • 1/1 scale? nice

  • hey, how are the work on the tank going?. have you made some progress since the last movie ?I intend to follow your footsteps, and make a panzer iv in 2 / 3 or 3 / 4 scale. sorry for bad english

  • how much are the sheets of plywood + how many do you plan on buying for the whole project???

  • @gammer019

So far about 6 sheets of plywood. I still have about 3/4 of a sheet left including a bunch of small scrap pieces.

I would guess about maybe 30 sheets for the whole project. Not sure yet.

  • @Molotov1943 how much is 1 sheet of plywood + where dod you buy them???

  • @gammer019

It depends on several things such as economy, type of wood, grade, thickness, etc.

I havent bought any plywood lately... but when i did it was about $15/sheet from Totem Building Supplies, and about $20 from Rona. The stuff at rona was crap though. Could have been just the way the cards were dealt though, but in my experience Totem is awesome. Always check your wood for deformities, warps, huge knots, etc.

  • What nails did you use to keep the frame together and what did you use to connect plywood-to-frame?

  • @SnuffinANDPuffin The frame is held together with a series of right angle brackets, 3 1/2 inch screws, and glue. The plywood is held in place by 1 1/4 inch screws and glue.

  • Hallo, what camouflage are you going to paint? 3 colour? Is it possible to send me plans?

  • @pichi4 Yes, the 3 tone color scheme, but that wont be for a while yet.

And I do not actually have plans; what I have is a 3 dimensional rough design. Basically a model with minor adjustments. From that I make parts using wood, metal, or plastic. The design is not complete either. A good chunk of the design is still in my head.

  • @Molotov1943 And what about google sketchup model? do you have it?

  • @pichi4

    Yes

  • Do not use silicone you will have trubel painting it

use acrylic , would you be abel to send me the plans ?

    5 stars from me

  • Good to know, thanks. Acrylic as in plastic?

I will message you about the plans

  • great work!, i am also working on a panzer 4, about the same size as yours, mine is an ausf D though. i am going to paint my turret next week and i am trying to find out how i can fit the hull machine gun...nice turret btw

  • Thanks! You should post some vids of your panzer. If you dont mind my asking, what do you mean how to fit the hull mg? Just how to make a working ball mg?

  • @Molotov1943

yes, i dont dont know how i can make a working ball mg, but i am planning to redo the turret with thin steel, because the climate her in the netherlands is very wet, i found two places on the turret where the wood is starting to rot...the wood is only a couple of weeks old.....

  • just you wait, my Tiger 1 will be finished...after I start....

  • this... is... awesome.... cant wait to see the end result, some day i shall tackle a project like this
