4. Which half? What about first half? In opposition to 'well known fact' Poland didn't lost their planes on earth in the first day of war. And what is more important, our air force fought with Germans, and they lost 1/4 of their planes, and much more damaged.
5. Last thing is simple. For what? He wanted Polish people to stay alive, what would give us a fight with soviets in this situation? Nothing but death of our soldiers.
4. I never said that Poland lost plains on the first day of war. I said that their was a half THAT NEVER STARTED. Polish airforce fought well with Germans, but why only half not full? Imagine how September Campaign would look like if Polish Airforce fought with FULL force.
5. What would fight with Soviets give us? September Campaign would last LONGER. If it would have lasted longer, German tanks would ave staying in one spot. You know that Germans were out of oil and ammunition?
And when Germans are out, would would their army do to Poland? And about Russia, Russia was a weakling what we have destroyed many times. Remember half of Poland was still not occupied by Germans, those lands were mobilizing and ready to fight reds any time.
You think we could destroy russia? Nice. What we could do in XVII, XIX century, or in Bolshevic War 1920 was not so easy to do after years of reforms in soviet army. In 1920 aprox. 700 thousands russians fought with us. In 1939 it could be a few milions...
Half of Poland, called "Poland B", because of industrial underdevelopedement, wasn't a good place to prepare solid, supplied defence.
Why did not give the orders to let the other half of the Polish air force fly and destroy German planes instead of keeping them in hangers. And another thing, why did he tell Polish Soldiers to not fight with Russians?
1. It is not Śmigły's fault that air force was weaker than sowiet and german. Both enemies was much more wealthy and had bigger industrial possibilities. Poland had many problems, and many expenses. Failure of "Wilk" Fighter Project was minister Rayski's fault.
2. This strategy was based on reciving a help from western allies. Poland was to hold out for a few weeks and wait for allied offensive. There was possibility that Germs take Gdańsk and western Poland and stop their attack.
The AIr Force was being developed too late in sufficient quantities because up to about 1935, the Polish military strategists believed that it was only good for support; the Army heads did obstruct building of more PLZ.37's and training of more air crews. It was, pehaps, the biggest mistake the Polish military strategists made!
Poland had no chance against Nazi Germanys and Soviet Russias allied forces, but despite that poles proved theirselves as brave warriors in WW2. Greetings to all poles!
Poland had great armed forces in 1939, these asswipes who believe nazi propaganda stories, from scum like guderian, about polish cavalry attacking German tanks with their sabres are mentally challenged and can go fuck theirselves. In my opinion, I repeat in my honest opinion you shouldnt go so hard with Rydz Smigly, coz it was a pretty desperate situation back in 1939. Russkies and nazi-germans had total air-superiority during the Polish camapigne
But it was Rydz Smigly's RESPONSIBILITY to make an air force. Why did he stop production of military vehicles?! he was marshal from 1935. He could have built a great air force. And why did he make a stupid tactic in September Campaign that Polish Soldier defend in a straight line on the border instead of putting Soldiers where the German Armies were marching. And Why weren't some weapons fully used?!
I've seen comments judging ridiculous the obsolete biplanes in this film. In fact, the very few remaining old French-made Potez XXV shown here were used only for training. The first line combat aircraft of the Polish Air Force were metal monoplanes manufactured in the 1930s. Only one old Potez has been used in September '39 - as a liaison aircraft.
Dzięki za uściślenie. Chodziło mi o to, że nieczęsto można zobaczyć obrazki służb pomocniczych. Najczęściej pokazuje się tych, co to na pierwszej linii.
Ufff... a lot of removing... Why the are so much shit on this planet? I didn't even tried to read everything of this... and I think I didn't lose anything.
Yeah, Poland fall after one month, but the biggest arrogant - France, world power, lasted only few days more! In 1940 alies had advantage in number of troops, tanks and planes, moreover, France had best tanks in the world! They had time to do mobilisation, they had their Maginot Line... And what is the most importnant they ignored the raports of Polish generals about german war doctrine. If Poland have the same posibilities as France, there would be no KL Aushwitz...
Well, where were the British Army when Red Army attacked and occupied east parts of Polan ? They declared war on germany, but where was the help vs sovjets.
Really? So why battle of Kock was in 5 october? Beside owned not only by Germans... and may i asked if there was ANY army capitulation? No, becouse main leader, only one person who can do it, was internment in Romania. In the first year of occupation Home Army killed dosens of nazis, it was world`s second largest resistance movement after Yugoslavian.
Looses in dead or wounded in german army was about 70,000 soldiers. Polish looses were far bigger (in fact we have lost!) and it was something about 200,000 dead, wounded and lost. The rest of Polish milion men army gone to the German and Soviet P.O.W. camps. Germans didn't killed 800,000 of our soldiers in battle.
Fuck it, that`s the price of ally like Russia, they needed to forget about us. But it was BIGGEST mistake of this war that France didn`t attack Germany in septembr `39, but waited behind Maginot Line for nazis attack for a YEAR!
Germany at that time had much better stratgey's than all other countries in the world, the also had some of the best equipment, better than USA's.
I guess France was afraid to attack, if we look back in history, France has never won against Germany, in the war in 1870 Germany won, in first world war they almoust won again even with British help, but at that time attacking was much weaker that defending, so Germany coudn't win fast.
@mikolajoskierko Yeah true, even when the Germans marched into the Rhineland in 1936, the French could have stopped it and maybe even deposed Hitler all together, but noooooooooo....
Won? After 45 years of communism, which stopped whole development of life standards, technologies, industry, infrastrucutre etc.? After 45 years of communist oppressions, imprisonments, political murders, Polish people overthrown the totalitarian rule by themselves. Now we are rebuilding our country after that comunist disaster. All in all, that was hardly a victory... Think of these 45 years wasted, when western Europe was getting stronger and stronger, when we were constantly going backwards.
In fact it is very arrogant to say to the nation with more than 1000 years of history that they should accept the betrayal of their long-term allies since they managed to survive.
and what betrayal? Yalta agreement was based on elected governments for eastern Europe. Soviet Union broke that agreement, and somehow got away with it.
Russian regular army invaded Poland 17th september 1939. There were regular battles fought. After the war they enacted military-supported government. Polish allies did nothing about that. Polish soldiers whou fought during the WW2 on the western side were slaughtered by the communist regime in Poland after the war. Number of soviet regime victims over years exceeded nazi victims.
There are Polish versions of Vickers E, called 7TP, and also some classic Vickers. But both are in Polish camouflage pattern. And both were used in 1939. The plane is deffinetly not Bristol F.2B but rather Polish PWS 26. I'm not sure about this plane.
Vickers in that movie have pattern with was called "japanese pattern". It consisted of spots in three colour: light-desert, dark green and dark brown, all with thin black contour. This camo was used by polish army betweem 1932-1936. Vickers in movie haven't modified cooling system, with was brought into force in 1936.
Biplanes aren't PWS 26. You're right, those aren't Bristol F.2B. Propably Potez XXV. In service 1927-1936, later replaced by PZL.23 Karaś.
gdyby francja udezyla na linie zygfryda, zmiotla by w drobny te 3 dywizje i wywiazali by sie ze zoobowiązań sojusznichych.Ale francuzi nie beda umierac za gdansk.
What is more, even when the alies have won the war, Poland dind't. In Poland only occupation have changed from German to Soviet. And whole world have forgotten about us... just as it have forgotten about Lithuanians, Latvians, Estonians, Czechs and Slovaks.
Now, don't be suprised why Polish goverment is so suspicious, and sometimes even unfriendly.
If our "ally" - France had attacked Germany, the war would have ended before winter... But France (and England too) have broken our alignment obligations, and hidden in the bunkers of the "Maginot Line". That's why milions of Jews, soldiers and civilians died. That's why 220/1000 Poles died during IIWW.
French attack on Germany was only a 'Polish Dream'. France had no such plans. Even so, with only about
2:1 advantage in number of bayonets on the French/German border, an offensive against defending Germany would have had no chance. The Polish intelligence was apparently not intelligent enough to put these facts together.
France and England signed our military alignment which said that they will attack in 14 days. Why Poland should not believe signed treaty? Germans had only 3 reserve divisions on "Siegfried Line". French could crush them easly. / in 1922 army of country which didn't exsisted 4 years earlier had bitten the biggest country in the world.
but we were intelligent enough to make our attack proposals to france around 1936. of course without positive answer. such efforts were silenced by british and french propaganda in the post-war period.
StormtrooperPL yes England and France did not help and did not fulfill their obligations but neither did Poland. According to the deal with France we should have at least part of equipment the same as they did so in the case of conflict they could provide parts, personnel, etc. Poland did not, thus we are not blameless. However, we did put hell of a fight.
Poland fullfiled aliance agreements. We had to maintain army of 30 infantry divisions, and we did it, besides it consumed almost 50% of our country budget. To cut the long story short Poland was betrayed by everyone. Even after years of war and sacrifice of our soldiers almost in all theatres of the IIWW we were "sold" by a druggist Churchil and damned covard Roosevelt to Stalin... And this is bloody reality.
Polish doctrine was based on maneuvers. That's why we had so many cavalry brigades. In 1922 Poland has won the war with Soviet Union thanks to the genious maneouver called "Miracle at the Vistula". I recomend you a Norman Davies book "White Eagle Red Star" which describes this war. But Germs have much faster and motorized units. Nevertheless in 1939 we had one of the best tank in the world - 7TP(37mm gun). Germs had mainly 20mm. But Poland was very poor so we had contructed only 133 these tanks.
What worked against an amateur like Budionyi or the reckless glory-hungry Tuchachevskij in 1920 was not good enough against a competent army 20 years later.
well of course our technical advances in military technology in 1939 were inferior to the countries that occupied our soil during the age of industrialization, until 1918.
I have read that the Poles relied to much and for to long on French military doctrine. French tactics were cast aside but to late to effect a change in time. In addition, Polish reservists were caught behind the lines by the quick advances of the Germans thus inhibiting the call up of ready reserve forces. Still the Poles gave a heroic account of themselves and bloodied the Germans noses in the process.
72 years ago on this date, Germany invaded Poland. Poland fought back as best they could against hopeless odds.

UK/US, the Dual Global Empire, should make no comments about the Poles before they learn to fight heir own wars.
Winning every battle in Vietnam and the war is lost.
Winning every battle in Iraq and the war will be lost.
Why?
"Freedom Fries"
the answer is: neither can win without the leadership of the French.
On the other hand; the political aim of the US/UK in Iraq is:
Not To Win.
Because stable Iraq qould have hiked up the oil prices.

Germany and Soviet Union against Poland - 36 days (1 September -- 6 October 1939)
Germany against Holland, Belgium, British Polish and Canadian Corpses and France - 44 days (10 May 1940 -- 22 June 1940) This is about reality.
