Yeah, that's so painful to watch. These are loses she should always avoid. She is the better player, but defeats herself: Stosur -Stosur: 2-6 6-4 4-6. A shame!
Sam needs to step it up now. And prove she is one of the best and cement herself in that top 5. she's got the game but silly lose's like these are the reason why. she need's to tighten her game more and play like she did in the final against serena and like she did against Vera. i love sam... Great game Maria
@gangstafuhrer Maria does play a lot better than people seems to give her credit for, no it's not the power tennis, thumping winners left and right like we're use to, she attacks the net so much and uses her incredible net game and angles to her advantage. On a side note, this is a fast indoor hard court (not stosurs best) even faster than how the US open was playing; according to the players the US open was slower this year than previous years.
@TennisFan713 I do agree with you, and that's why I am a Makiri Fan :-) I love her style to play, it's so different ....I don't like the power tennis like many others play, smashing from the baseline all the time
and YES, this really counts as a revenge, very well played maria!
@gangstafuhrer No it still counts as revenge. Maria forced allot of the play in this match, and she made quite a number of errors herself. I could easily say that if Maria had not made all those errors that the match would have ended in straight sets, and that is the case, it's obvious she's learn from the US Open loss and has made it a mission to come to the net whenever she can, even more so than usual. Well played from her.
@rcmso It's not like she can just say: "I'm going to win today in straights" and it instantly happens.... Maria played a great match, and the better player won that day, that's how tennis works.

kirilenko revenge :D :D
she really has an outstanding volley

@medany89 If her volley was so good she would have a similar doubles career to Stosur's

Is it me or did sam's backhand look really good here... like way cleaner than it was ever.

@TennisFan713 I'd agree. Shame she couldn't keep the error count down though :(

The whole match was all about Stosur. Can't believe she lost at the end. I guess she only cares to win in Grand Slams now.....
