Probably the most convincing of Caballe's performances of this aria. Voice sounds opulent, well-supoorted, maintains a fabulous line and passagio. I think one of the most underrated aspects of Caballe's voice is her middle and lower register. Always very dramatic and is able to transition into the high notes and allow a climax to unfold.
The only flaw is her complete lack of intonation regarding consonants, particularly in the upper register.
Amazing tone and presence...this is a tour of force aria...and she makes it look so easy as avalo says she seems cold bur her voice is full of color and passion...Bravo Madame Caballe...you r and amazing artist...and interpreter
A beautiful interpretation and with transitioning from low-pitched to the highest-pitched passages with apparent ease. No straining on her high notes, legato smooth and elegant. This performance, to me was on a par with Birgit Nilsson's.

Even though I still don't think Caballe's voice was particularly well suited to this kind of role, she was able to make it work. I'm not sure if the omission of the consonants is a dental thing or just her way of taking some of the declamatory requirements out of the music to make it easier for her to sing it on the breath with enough thrust under it.
Caballe' s Turandot is fascinating; she sings all the indications of score. The p, pp, crescedo, forte, etc. I'm truly amazingly how she does pp in both F in the word "morte" on 3:43; isn't in score, but it's a great hint him fear she have Lou Ling's death . Wonderful
She resorts to the rather irritating tactic of omitting consonants and singing in Caballesque (a sort of Italian-Basque language). However, this is La Caballé, and there are lovely touches in the aria. She was unique and I say brava!
for me....may I say it...I didn't know or expect a Turandot from Caballe......and...as classy as i can say HOLY CRAP~! XD BRAVA

clarity of tone, beautiful dynamics although a bit mechanical. A big woman who sounds as though she's young and pretty.

Incroyable!

Magnificent, I have this video and love it! Amazing rendition!
Love it. I did like Eva Marotn but I prefer Monserrat version....
You either love her or hate her. I prefer the first...

She omits consonants in her speech as well. A dental thing, I suspect. Still, a glorious singer and extraordinary musician.

The consonants she ommited doesn't really matter to me here. I love how she did flex the role to her own voice and how sensitive her phrasings are!
