  • @blakasassin: I used to have the same problem as you. I used to drink a lot of iced tea (full of sugar) when I was in high school and this is probably one of the reasons why I gained weight (you don't really realise the amount of sugar you're having since you're drinking!) I've lost my unwanted kilos now for almost a year and here is what i did about this "drinking problem". I replaced sodas by natural fruits juices, home made juices. Then I reduced the juices to drink natural teas with stevia

  • i work out every single week day in my room for an hour now days.. its fun cause its become an habit!! and i still eat junkfood.. drink energy drinks.. but im still losing weight maybe it takes me longer to lose it but im not gaining i build alot of muscle which is freakin awesome.. ive been really over weight and im not goin back!! almost at the point where im lookin good without a shirt.. i mean.. and i still do all these things..!! its not that hard.. just learn to love it!

  • F.Y.I. Folks, muscle doesn't weigh more than fat, that's a lie and a myth. Muscle is just more dense than fat. Fat just takes more space in the body as oppose to muscle. If you take a pound of feathers and a pound of rocks, which one weighs more? The feathers are just far less dense than what rocks are, so there for it will take more feathers to equal that pound. This is why body fat is easier to put on then than it is to lose it. I hope this is helpful to everyone.

  • I weigh myself on a daily basis, however what you say is so very true. For those of you who are just starting out, I'd suggest hiring a trainer. If you can't afford one, seek out as much info as you can on the web - there's tons of good info out there. You're lucky - I was overweight in my 20's and didn't have the Internet. I just purchased magazines and got what I could out of them. I know much more about fitness now but I wish I had this type of media to motivate and educate me back then.

  • I've started dieting and exercising this week, and I've gained weight. People tell me it's muscle or water weight, but it's really discouraging. I will take your advice and stop weighing myself all the time lol.

  • tell me if this is bad.i had toast with peanut butter *wheat toast*/lunch top romen noodles with broccoli in it and carrots half of packet of the flavoring *half*/and i went to sleep for like 4 hours and woke up around 8 and had 3 baked pieces of chicken with veggies/alot of broccoli

    Develop good habits. Every morning I go for a run. After the run, I make a wonderful smoothie. The rest of the day is not perfect, but I'm OK with that.

    Now, onto the second thing:

  • FYI: muscle does not weigh more than fat. A pound of anything is still a pound. Muscle is just more compact.

  • @frankiero55 size and weight are two different measurements. To your question...yes a POUND of feathers is not the same size as a POUND of rocks, however they do both weigh a POUND. Weight and Density are commonly misused. Muscle is more dense/compact than fat. Therefor a fat person will appear larger than someone who weighs the same and is mainly muscle.

  • I've been struggling with my weight all this year, I was usually quite slim, I exercised regulary, I ate healthy, but then since quitting smoking on the 1st of january, I've found a new addiction-sweet foods. Also, I hate admiting some thing so personal, but I'm a bit of a loner, so I dont go out much really, so feel like I've got no reason to lose weight and look good, even though it does in reality depress the hell outta me! help!!!

    smoking kind of kills your taste and you dont eat alot but when you quit you start enjoying taste of all the food you eat before and thats how addiction starts

    just become more active, i know its difficult when you dont feel comfortable but its important for you do it just to get moving and get addicted to water

    drink more water then you need, and dont be afraid of peein'

    eat less and go to tiolet more

  • you know after I wrote that 2 days ago, it really woke me up! I've been eating healthy and exercising! I think maybe the first steps to losing weight is admitting you have a problem, and writing it down. I'm feeling better already! and drinking alot of water too!

  • She just means that if u took the same AMOUNT of fat and the same AMOUNT of musicle, the muscle would weigh more, so you could be exactly the same size as someone wo has more musicle and they will be heavier, but they will have less fat and more muscle and are therefore healthier

  • I've been known for having this nice jlo body but after 2 kids i have gain so much weight. I am asian and feel out of place when I hang out with my friends because they shrink back to a size zero 2 weeks after birth. I feel so out of place sometimes. I am no where near obese but I sure do feel like it sometimes.

  • Hi, I find your vlogs to be very inspirational. I would like to ask you for your advice on losing weight/losing fat. I am a female, I work out 3-4 times per week consistently, cardio/resistance training. I eat considerably healthy. I have been attempting to weight in at below 140lbs. No matter how muchmy weight fluctuates, the scales stops at 140lbs. My body seems to not want to weigh anything less than 140. I don't know what else to do, advise please?

  • My advice would be to look at your height. BMI's do not work for everyone. If you have muscle then the average person you will be coming off as being fat. Get a caliper test to see what your actual fat content is. You might be trying to lose muscle

  • This is so inspiring. I'm 16 and overweight. It's hell to be fat in high school when you're surrounded by all of the skinny girls. I will look around the classroom and will say to myself, wow, I'm the fattest person in this room. And I'm not rediculously big. I've been trying to lose weight for as long as I can remember and this video has actually given me hope. Maybe this is it.

    Have you even seen 1 lb of human fat taken from the body, or 1 lb of muscle?

    If you put a TENNIS ball sized amount of muscle on a scale, it would weigh one lb..

    And 1 lb of fat is about the size of a brick.

  • lol...muscle is denser than fat....your tennis ball and brick analogies are pretty stupid...but your logic is sound....think of it more like, a pound of feathers weighs the same as a pound of cement...however, cement is more dense...therefore the pound of feathers takes up more spatial volume....I run and drink protein shakes....people tell me i look "too skinny"...but I am 5'6" and weigh 135...but I am SOLID muscle...BMI charts don't even apply to me accurately.
