First, Pruet was on the race line, and Montoya wasn't. Montoya would have been able to pass Pruet if he would have been on the right side before the race line point where you have to turn the wheel. For me, my interpretation, it's Montoya's fault, he wasn't enough close to be in it's "right" to pass.
That's absolutely right, Juan coulda waited another corner. He got into his "I want it right now" attitude. This was so dirty I actually took a shower after this race.
What"d ya expect....this is what happens every time a penis makes contact with a butthole! NASCAR is not racing..its for the toothless and stupid rednecks that sleep with their moms, cousins, sisters and daughters....so if you love NASCAR...We will see you on the sex-offenders list!
Montoya drove it in a bit too deep, Pruett cut in to make the corner the same way all the other cars were making it, if you watch closely. That's why he cut across like that.
A) Pruett cut montoya's path, so he didn't raced dirty, B) Pruett cold've stayed in the outside so he could've hit turn 2 in the inside and keep the lead, C) Montoya braked to not hit Pruett, as you can see the smoke coming from the 42, D) Pruett's spotter didn't told him the 42 was on the inside, so Pruett's spotter didn't made his job, E) Everybody is blaming Montoya when clearly, he didn't made that on purpose
The yellow stripe on his bumper explains alot....ROOKIE mistake. He's gotten much better since he's started. I think the one thing that keeps this guy from being better is his ego/maturity and his impatience. But he's getting better
if you see the smoke fro Juan's tires to he TRIED To stop and not hit Pruett. There was nothing else Montoya could have done. Pruett spun himself out.
although looking at the replay of his onboard camera it kind of looked like he nose dived it in the corner. Though he did make the car stick! It's not like he nose dived it and then overshot the corner and hit Pruett. That' didn't happen Pruett turned down and blocked.

Montoya drove a dirty race to win, but the only reason he kept the win is because it was in Mexico and he is a columbia which makes him a fan favorite, if it would have happened in America, he would have been pentilized.
totally agree with iconr, he made a very optomistic move and tried to pull out of it. Accidnet yeah but his move his responsibility. Monty didn't even get alongside. Maybe not even meant to make any move just braked a bit late compared to team mate. You can't just pull over because someone points towards your inside.
if you know anything about racing, you know its NOT montoya's fault?? bout the dumbest thing i have heard all day. i have watched and raced my whole life, and can tell you montoya is absolutely at fault for this. you cant just bomb it down into a corner when your 4 car lengths back and expect the guy your chasing to see that coming. and its not blocking, its called entering the corner like every other corner you drive down into for this guy below me. lol
Sure, Montoya COULD have avoided it, but why should he. Montoya: a) had the faster driver/car combo, b) had the position/line, c) had nothing to lose. On the other hand, Pruett: a) had a slower car/driver combo, b) did not have the position/line, c) tried to chop his teammate's nose off, d) most importantly, HAD to know that if there was contact in that circumstance that it would be HIMSELF spinning. Pruett made a bonehead move, and got what anyone deserves for making a bonehead move.
LOL...love reading all the unintelligent comments. Unintelligent people let emotions get in the way of a brain. To say this crash was Montaya's fault is pathetic. It was totally Pruett's fault. Pruett clearly cut across Montoya. When Montoya moved across on the straight Pruett should have either moved across to cover the move (in which case Montoya would have probably tried to go around the outside) or kept on the outside of the turn so that he could take the inside line at the next corner.
@FonzCam agree 100% with you. if one driver cuts across the front of another car its his fault, like Edwards cutting across Keselowski at Atlanta early in the race, and Hamlin and Brad K at Dover.
@Blackdog747 all you need is to be up to the rear wheel and the other guy's spotter should say right corner.
plus in big braking zones it's almost expected that someone is going to outbrake you to the inside, you either take the defencive line or expect someone's going to get inside.
@FonzCam your wearing some rose coloured glasses again sir. montoya was going to spin him no matter where he went. i mean....had he blocked him...he'd spin him. had he not blocked at all, he still had a turn to make. he was going to spin him. plain and simple.

Idiots should watch some real racing. I don't know what Montoya is doing wasting his talent racing against these amateurs.
I love it how F1 fans think they are watching the ONLY good form of racing in the world. Stock car racing is exciting in its own sense, it's just a totally different situation.
@toons123 *cough* lol sorry had to chuckel when you called Montoya a "real racer" LOL yes real racers fight for 41st place in most races or ends up wrecking someone cause he can't handle getting bumped around. @dienkonig33 I won't say the drivers don't have talent but I did open wheel racing for 8 years ok I know how the deal works. The guys with the most money get the best finishes because they can buy the best parts. Yes Stock Car has alot of that but with limitations it's easier for more teams to keep up on parts to match all the other cars. You notice why you get such a bigger mix of winners in Nascar? In F1 you tend to always get the same group of guys winning each weekend.

@davevis Exactly. Juan just meant to try to get the lead, maybe got a little excited, tried to make, really a clean move, and Pruet cut across him, I guess thinking he had Montoya clear. I'll tell you, though, I would've hated to be in Montoya's position. I know he wanted to win, but I think he also knew he didn't want to wreck his teammate.
it doesnt matter if he had more speed in the corner its not F1! this isnt how u race your team mate one more time T.E.A.M.M.A.T.E!!! N ISNT THAT HIS ONLY WIN? THATS WHT I THOUGHT N FOR THE MEXICAN FUCK ¡VIVA AMERICA!
That's called competitive racing. Too bad for Pruett but Montoya had the more speed in that corner. He should have been faster, otherwise Montoya wouldn't have been able to get up on him like that.
dude give the guy a break he is used to cars that handle so much better than these cup cars. Formula one cars break so much faster and take corners quicker so of course he thought he could take it, I would like to see some of these NASCAR drivers race an F1 car and lets see how they do in a REAL race.
Watch Monza 2003 hight light just for example and you ll understand that "something"was wrong!!Listen Briatore!!!So...baby schumy should to learn to walk on his own legs..withouth Barrichello ,Sauber, and Politic..!! Obviously Montoya has been above all this, showing to all the world what is a natural talent driver you can't stop.If people ignore all this is because many of them watch to much television and they usually think following the mainstream.Watch things carefully and you ll understand
"people ignore all this is because many of them watch to much television and they usually think following the mainstream" that or you're a paranoid idiot.
In that moment ferrari was ready to write a new page of legend and Montoya was evidently closing this project. The ferrari-Fia couldn't allow this.Well done .....so now take your plastic and tray to sell it.We don't like plastic and we will never forget the best talent driver of the lasts fews years JPM
he should have come back to F1 instead of rotting away in commercially biased US rating. This accident shows the true colours of the Monsta that is why we love him and want is audacious overtakes back in F1. Nascar is an uncompetitive snooze-cruise.
Dude, you couldn't have said it any better, I agree with you 100%. I would love to see him in BMW and replace Nick Heidfeld when his contract expires for the 2008 season.
Montoya should have been suspended for a few races after this stunt. sell out NASCAR will bend over backward to attract minorities, again proving that they will do anything for ratings. Send him back to where all the fuzzy foreigners race and check him for a green card while you are at it
It Juantoya's fault through and through. It doesn't matter that Pruett went low - that is what you do at an apex. He never has reason to believe his teammate is going to swoop on him, not in a million years. Particularly when Juantoya was about 1 second behind at the beginning of the stretch. Cheap shit right there. Oh and Denny Hamlin's a fag - not offense to gay people.
Its not montoya's fault... look closely.. Scott Pruett was far on the outside when montoya came on his inside... Montoya was already on Scott Pruett's right rear quarter panel when scott pruett decided to cut Montoya off... it wasnt niether of there faults... because Scott Pruett thought he had enough room to get in front of Montoya, and Montoya thought there was enough room to pass on the inside
It's amazing that everyone on youtube becomes an expert on everything they see. I trust the commentators, crew chiefs, and team owners. We all know who's fault it was.
dude, i already knew this.. i didnt even have to see this...i AM a NASCAR fan! I watched this race live, the only reason im replying so late on it is because i was looking for a onboard camera for Autodromo Hermanos Rodriquez, because the race is this Sunday.
It's not a matter of he had the spot, it's a matter of courtesy on the track. Montoya and Pruitt are teammates, so one would think, especially when Montoya had the faster car, he would have been much more careful, and possibly Pruitt might have even moved over for him, considering he was faster and a teammate. Montoya is just impatient. You say you saw this one live, did you see the Watkins Glen wreck between Harvick and Montoya? Same thing, he was impatient.
That doesn't make any sense. How was it his fault at Watkins Glen? Truex hit him from behind, watch the video. And in this incident, Pruett cut down. If Montoya "ran into his back" he would have made contact on his rear bumper, instead he hit his Right-rear tire.
At Watkins Glen, they both were flying into the corner, and neither one should have been that low, going that fast, but the whole incident was an accident. As for this, I never said he hit him the back, he didn't. I'm saying, as a teammate, he should not have been there at all, and he should have a picked a better spot to pass and waited until he easily could have gotten down below. He dove in from far away, and Pruitt never thought he was coming. It was a very dangerous, ill thought out move.
until I saw the onboard view I was thinking it was pruitt's Fault then I saw that view. Montoya pushed way to hard getting into that corner he spun his own team mate because he once again lacks patients and he's still not sure how to drive stock cars. The reason people knock Montoya is because he is full of himself and he always blames someone else. He seems to wreck some one almost every race. He's to out of control out there he's gonna kill someone.
nah.. he just has balls and makes moves other pussies wouldn't try. Thats what makes him fun to watch. He is not wreckless. Only pussy drivers never get into wrecks because they don't take chances. Racing would be a huge snore if people like him didn't exist.
I don't think it was him having balls cause he could have gotten him easily in the next turn I think it was him being unexperienced with these stock cars he expected it to work like the F1 cars
nah, this man knows what h is doing with a car. He is just SUPER aggressive!! I was sponsred by him for a while in Karts and raced against him and his brother quite a bit, both are just as fast as the best karters and both are Freakin Nuts! you just don't know when they are going toput their nose on the inside. Its funny how much faster a driver he is than the NASCAR guys. "Clubing baby seals is always fun!"
I don't think it's so much that he's a bad driver I think he's just gotta mature a little and get a little more patience and seat time in that Stock car he's a talented driver he just lacks the ability to use his talent more wisely. It's a whole new ball game out there compared to F1. And he needs to stop picking fights with other drivers
Juan would have won that race easily without that mistake. No one mentions that JPM was flying from the back of the pack due to a f'd up pitstop after leading most of the race. Pretty fukin impressive to do that well in your first stock car road race..
WTF did that need a full-course caution?? This is why I can't watch NASCAR, it's so deathly dull, we want to watch racing, not cars dithering behind the pace car.

columnbian, mexican, cuban, rican, beaner, wetback, paco, taco its all the same. He should be building my new deck or plowing my fields. I cant believe we are now racing in Mexico. Everybody better be on guard for illegal stow aways or equipment getting ripped off.
Back in the 80s there was a big earthquake in Mexico City. Several European countries sent rescue and medical teams; most of those teams had their equipment stolen. One rescue team even had their specially trained german shepherds stolen.
how much was stolen in new orleans during our national emergency......."let he who is without sin cast the first stone" and i was there during katrina
Yet another crash caused by the Hero from F1. This guy is a disease to NASCAR. He is absolutely horrible. Every single race he crashes someone else out, or he crashes himself out.
The Intimidator was the greatest driver of the past three decades. He gave you the chance to get out of the way. If you didn't, and you weren't fast enough, he nudged you to get by. But then he actually won the race. He didn't just go and cause a wreck every week.
check 1:43look at the spin closely, its pruetts spotters fault, montoya kept his line and then pruett cut in and spun himself, hes just a selfish jerk who is a cry baby.
look at the spin closely, its pruetts spotters fault, montoya kept his line and then pruett cut in and spun himself, hes just a selfish jerk who is a cry baby.
yea but he had to try and avoid the wreck, he would have had a lot of damage, and i dont think thats a penalty anyway. like at 2:46 he had nowhere to go
are you stupid or you're just pretending to be, you're so dumb that it would probably take you seeing the video 100 more times to realize Montoya had no way to go
Wow roramonjr, great comeback. That guy owns you day after day. I can't believe there are people out there as dumb as you. You suck at life. You need to give up man. Save yourself a little bit of self-pride and stop talking.
i thought you were gonna say something that would shut me down but you just said the dumbest comment in this entire site, just like saying: get a penalty for cutting the grass instead of crashing when you're the fastest car in the race
I love this guy. I remember watching him cause 18-million dollars worth of damage at an F1 start at indianapolis 2006. I think nascars are cheaper. Good fun to watch.
That was low down racing, You F1 fans out there who think that they are better than everyone else, Montoya would be welcome as a stock car driver if he would only learn how to drive a Cup car, but just like every other driver in F1 he thinks he is better then anyone else.
If you like this style or not, actions like this make the race a lot more interesting = more viewers = more advertizing. A lot of reasons to keep people like Montoya on the racing track. What would sports be without the rebels?

that was just racin', Montoya saw the space and he went through but Pruett wasnt checking his rearview mirror and he got into Juan Pablo
davevis 2 years ago 7
@davevis Exactly. Juan just meant to try to get the lead, maybe got a little excited, tried to make, really a clean move, and Pruet cut across him, I guess thinking he had Montoya clear. I'll tell you, though, I would've hated to be in Montoya's position. I know he wanted to win, but I think he also knew he didn't want to wreck his teammate.

F1 requires better driving than NASCAR. and montoya isn't bad on circuits, only on ovals where he has no alies...

He has no alies because he wercks everyone

that's beside the point, my point is that he's a good driver...

pruett didn't cut him off he had the line into the corner on a road course you need to be beside the car to make a pass.

it doesnt matter if he had more speed in the corner its not F1! this isnt how u race your team mate one more time T.E.A.M.M.A.T.E!!! N ISNT THAT HIS ONLY WIN? THATS WHT I THOUGHT N FOR THE MEXICAN FUCK ¡VIVA AMERICA!
lowes1981 3 years ago
That's called competitive racing. Too bad for Pruett but Montoya had the more speed in that corner. He should have been faster, otherwise Montoya wouldn't have been able to get up on him like that.

dude give the guy a break he is used to cars that handle so much better than these cup cars. Formula one cars break so much faster and take corners quicker so of course he thought he could take it, I would like to see some of these NASCAR drivers race an F1 car and lets see how they do in a REAL race.
narutofan8675309 3 years ago
thats just it..HE CANT DRIVE NASCAR...so he needs to gtfo....and no I am not a nascar fan

Plastic!!! Montoya showed clearly to all the world that there was someone else very much better than schumi-ferrari.

he should have come back to F1 instead of rotting away in commercially biased US rating. This accident shows the true colours of the Monsta that is why we love him and want is audacious overtakes back in F1. Nascar is an uncompetitive snooze-cruise.
jenssalumae2 3 years ago
Dude, you couldn't have said it any better, I agree with you 100%. I would love to see him in BMW and replace Nick Heidfeld when his contract expires for the 2008 season.
Nihil2005 3 years ago
to right Nick Heidfeld is gettin owned by Kubica. Kubica deserves a challenge and he would elevate BMW up to the front of the grid.
jenssalumae2 3 years ago
Wow! I cannot agree more.
zaction 3 years ago
Montoya should have been suspended for a few races after this stunt. sell out NASCAR will bend over backward to attract minorities, again proving that they will do anything for ratings. Send him back to where all the fuzzy foreigners race and check him for a green card while you are at it

montoya you dumbass!
berretta28 3 years ago
It Juantoya's fault through and through. It doesn't matter that Pruett went low - that is what you do at an apex. He never has reason to believe his teammate is going to swoop on him, not in a million years. Particularly when Juantoya was about 1 second behind at the beginning of the stretch. Cheap shit right there. Oh and Denny Hamlin's a fag - not offense to gay people.
JPhinfan86 3 years ago
Its not montoya's fault... look closely.. Scott Pruett was far on the outside when montoya came on his inside... Montoya was already on Scott Pruett's right rear quarter panel when scott pruett decided to cut Montoya off... it wasnt niether of there faults... because Scott Pruett thought he had enough room to get in front of Montoya, and Montoya thought there was enough room to pass on the inside
dennyhamlin11 3 years ago
It's amazing that everyone on youtube becomes an expert on everything they see. I trust the commentators, crew chiefs, and team owners. We all know who's fault it was.
hydroman333 3 years ago
dude, i already knew this.. i didnt even have to see this...i AM a NASCAR fan! I watched this race live, the only reason im replying so late on it is because i was looking for a onboard camera for Autodromo Hermanos Rodriquez, because the race is this Sunday.
dennyhamlin11 3 years ago
It's not a matter of he had the spot, it's a matter of courtesy on the track. Montoya and Pruitt are teammates, so one would think, especially when Montoya had the faster car, he would have been much more careful, and possibly Pruitt might have even moved over for him, considering he was faster and a teammate. Montoya is just impatient. You say you saw this one live, did you see the Watkins Glen wreck between Harvick and Montoya? Same thing, he was impatient.
hydroman333 3 years ago
That doesn't make any sense. How was it his fault at Watkins Glen? Truex hit him from behind, watch the video. And in this incident, Pruett cut down. If Montoya "ran into his back" he would have made contact on his rear bumper, instead he hit his Right-rear tire.
ndboy17 3 years ago
At Watkins Glen, they both were flying into the corner, and neither one should have been that low, going that fast, but the whole incident was an accident. As for this, I never said he hit him the back, he didn't. I'm saying, as a teammate, he should not have been there at all, and he should have a picked a better spot to pass and waited until he easily could have gotten down below. He dove in from far away, and Pruitt never thought he was coming. It was a very dangerous, ill thought out move.
hydroman333 3 years ago
pruitt had a chance to move over....everyone loves knockin montoya...i have nothin but respect for him...hell im a so called georgia redneck..lol
foskey5150 3 years ago
until I saw the onboard view I was thinking it was pruitt's Fault then I saw that view.
Kartracer6 3 years ago
nah.. he just has balls and makes moves other pussies wouldn't try. Thats what makes him fun to watch. He is not wreckless. Only pussy drivers never get into wrecks because they don't take chances. Racing would be a huge snore if people like him didn't exist.
zaction 3 years ago 2
I don't think it was him having balls cause he could have gotten him easily in the next turn I think it was him being unexperienced with these stock cars he expected it to work like the F1 cars
Kartracer6 3 years ago
Exactly. I agree 100%.. He should have been more cautious but shit happens.
zaction 3 years ago
nah, this man knows what h is doing with a car.
KartChampion 3 years ago 2
I don't think it's so much that he's a bad driver I think he's just gotta mature a little and get a little more patience and seat time in that Stock car he's a talented driver he just lacks the ability to use his talent more wisely. It's a whole new ball game out there compared to F1. And he needs to stop picking fights with other drivers
Kartracer6 3 years ago
Juan would have won that race easily without that mistake. No one mentions that JPM was flying from the back of the pack due to a f'd up pitstop after leading most of the race. Pretty fukin impressive to do that well in your first stock car road race..
zaction 3 years ago
WTF did that need a full-course caution?? This is why I can't watch NASCAR, it's so deathly dull, we want to watch racing, not cars dithering behind the pace car.

Greyfox404 3 years ago
The Intimidator was the greatest driver of the past three decades. He gave you the chance to get out of the way. If you didn't, and you weren't fast enough, he nudged you to get by. But then he actually won the race. He didn't just go and cause a wreck every week.

That was low down racing, You F1 fans out there who think that they are better than everyone else, Montoya would be welcome as a stock car driver if he would only learn how to drive a Cup car, but just like every other driver in F1 he thinks he is better then anyone else.
stockcrrcr 4 years ago
Pruett cut into the corner too fast, is my view. Though, Montoya should have established that line sooner, too. Nice win though.
