  • SOMETHING IS WRONG HERE! 1.LITTLE GIRL AT 0.20 WITH "CHINESE'' SUIT' 2.NEVER SEEN THAT MUCH SLANTED EYED FILIPINOS IN ONE PLACE 3.THEY MAKED US LOOK PATHETIC 4.THE GUY ''NANDING!'' 5.THEY MAKE US LOOK IGNORANT 6.SUBLIMINALY INSULTING US!YES YOU!IT INVOLVES YOU! 7.THE INTENTION IS VERY ''SPANISH''/''RACIST!'' 8.THEY ARE STILL DOING IT!YOU KNOW WHAT IT IS! MY MESSAGE TO THE MODERN DAY ''MASTERS!'' WHO MADE THIS. LO QUE HABEIS HECHO...ES TAN PALIDO!COMO SOIS!
  • !Que lindo el chico! Pero no habla Filipino fluido.. Jajajajaja

  • its so funny...and this maybe the ideas of metro here in the philippines...but long before we have metro it called MERALCO its like trump....wish we have subway also like here in Korea and they have also bullet train and a lot of mono rail....

  • Should I be offended? We certainly don't wear that kind of hat. And it's not in Manila anyway, but in a province in Mindanao. And btw.....

    ¡Suerte!.

  • Hahaha a lot of filipinos wish/think the world sees them more like a hispanic country rather than an asian one. This proves that u guys are as asian as china, japan etc etc

  • @recuerdoscontequila maybe some, but don't generalize because if you live in the Philippines, you would know. Filipinos are proud Southeast Asians.

  • This is so cool pero those actors look vietnamese not filipinos

Hahahaha.

  • i wonder what is philippines called b4 spanish rule..i guess the chinese malay..japanese..and spain were fighting for the island..and the igorots hid in the northen part mountains.

  • and i thought some of the people are vietnamese. why are some of the "filipinos" in the tvc are wearing vietnamese hats and i see some kids wearing chinese clothes. 0__o

  • @skyelar18

the hats were called salakot. it has been developed from neighboring countries for centuries.

  • that's funny commercial

  • STUPID! SPANISH!!.... who do you think we are a fucking IGNORANT.... STOP POSTING ANYTHING ABOUT FILIPINOS....... JUST LEAVE THE FILIPINOS ALONE ...

  • @lastsuyan ang pangit mo gago

  • @lastsuyan the real filipinos are the spanish!!

  • Amazing!

This commercial shows the "child like, life cherishing" spirit of which makes the Philippines one of the few places on Earth that still holds the core meaning of humanity and the key to true happiness.

Funny to see that the Filipino people commenting all have that "child like" spirit of ignorance.

Ahh what a contradiction to see a trait that makes us hold the key to what we all search for and yet it's people are easily misguided by their unjustified feelings of hatred as seen below.

Mga kaibigan, panoorin ninyo itong METRO SPAIN TV commercial !

  • By "generation gap", I meant a cultural difference as some words and actions can never be perfectly translated.

Anyway, the commercial's end was funny. But I don't think animals are allowed in any type of Metro.

  • If I may,

The relationship of Spain to the Philippines is compared to that of a strict mother and her teenage daughter. Everything was a big misunderstanding because the Spaniards saw in their eyes, and the Filipinos in theirs. The colonizer was simply too far, and the "generation gap" too large. Philippines eventually opted to leave to learn things on her own. As we can observe, traces of the mother, from beliefs to preferred food, are still with the daughter who visits from time to time.

  • @pq887was Then is the U.S. the handosme man who rapes the daughter when she tires to be independent?

  • @RoyalKnightVII Sort of? And then she was given old useless WW2 equipment for compensation. She's better off being truly independent.

  • @pq887was Yeah jsut a shame Spanish is no longer spoken, all for independence of course, support it as a Language of commerce and international communication, since most of the Americas speak it and easier to understand Portuguese and all.

  • @pq887was LOL wtf ...more like filipinos are loyal subjects or slaves of spanish. :)

  • @pq887was oh yeah.. and you filipinos are big time copycats, clearly exemplified by this video ROFL

  • ........? i dont get what its advertising

  • actually guys.....yeah i kinda noticed the kid in vietnamese clothes hahahahaha i was wondering if this was shot in the philippines? cause i read a blog that it was...but im confused with the child wearing chinese clothes we dont wear that!!!!!!!!!! and the hat lahi man ato hat its not sharp at the end like vietnamese....but anyway they look like typical filipinos yeah

  • Most of them don't look like filipino. The feature looks like a pure chinese or vietnamese. I saw something like vietnamese dress. This is funny! I am a Filipina and i could tell they are not Filipinos.

  • The official population of mixed-blood Filipinos in the Philippines remains unknown but anybody who has lived there can tell the sharp differences in race and culture with the nationals of neighboring countries, such as Malaysia or Indonesia.

Although Malays and Indonesian look the same, it is Impossible to mistake a Malay with a Filipino.

Filipino are unique on their own mix of races, and that is a good thing too.

  • their like veitnamese

we filipinos r not like THAT!

  • filipinos are multi facial people they can look chinese but more often good looking for some reasons they can look very Caucasian like rhian ramos or isabel granada they can look indians, arabs and turks.. it is not offending i actually find it very entertaining the most interesting about is more often we look chinese but muscular like latins speak english like americans and posses spanish names

me llamo marco, estudias espanol mucho la clase

  • no most of them look 100% malay stock!

if their were caucasian looking ones!

that is rare in the philippines

i am from the philippines and i am tired of ingorant comments like yours!

only 3% have mixed blodo.that includes all the cultures you mentioned!

  • Jd again with the 3% man...its just a damn estimate not a fact

  • im not aying everyone i said THEY can look caucasian..etc... duh..! read my comment! and why are you so mad...what? was there something wrong with what i said? you reacted so much..and sorry not 100% of filipinos look malay, remember filipinos are one of the most multimix races in the world even after brazilians.. philippines has the largest population of eurasian, amerasian and chinese mestizo.. darling pls get some facts..

    you sound hater...bitch!

  • I'm a Filipino myself and I find this kinda funny rather than offending. How come they have Vietnamese clothing? Hahaha! Have you noticed their hats and costumes? Filipinos don't wear those stuff!

  • I am a filipino, this commercial is not offending,

    it's really nice one..

It just say "If they can do it, we can also do it."

Because we have the skills and talent, and we can do something way much better.

I like the commercial - We Filipinos can do things beyond what others only imagine! May we be united in mind and heart. Madrid is seaside not like Ifugao - hehehehe!

  • Mardid in Surigao Sur, Mindanao won years ago the title of one of the cleanest and greenest towns in the Philippines. Its people - disciplined and friendly. Beautiful beaches facing pacific ocean, rolling hills, caves, waterfalls - vacation place.

  • Why people are offended? The history is in humor code and is just a small village as well they are in SPain or other countries. For Spanish audience, Philipines are nice people if a very good sense of humor.

  • this is an awesome video! why are filipinos offended?

  • dont speak tagalog on youtube comments. FOBS!!! jk

    ASIAN PRIDE, nikkuh!!!

  • I think you replied to the wrong person.

  • @SoTruASIANfilms

    AYAW PAG-BUOT! TARD!

  • @SoTruASIANfilms

IF THEY CAN SPEAK SPANISH WHY CAN'T I SPEAK TAGALOG IN YT? SIRA-ULO KA BA? TIGBASON KO NG ITLOG MO MAOY IMO!

  • @zulfikarl hahaha.. npatawa nman ako s visaya mo. isog kaau! hahaha

  • @con3s8... they are ignorant...they have NO idea how many beautiful places still existing in our home country.

  • Nice.... we are dipicted as cheap imitators and idiots....

    How disheartening...

  • i dont see it that way...ur too sensitive

  • Too sensitive?

  • this is truly a descrimination for us filipinos it reminds here that we are fucking idiots....Bangon mga pinoy!!!!

  • natuwa nga ako nung first time ko to mapanood sa loob ng metro. ung mga spanish napapangiti pa nga nung makita nila ung part na may nagaabang na kambing sa isang station. at wala naman akong narinig na violent reaction sa both pinoy and spanish.

  • Niiice....

  • The debate regarding whether the Philippines is a Spanish-speaking country or not is petty. The fact of the matter is it was to an extent in its history, but is not AS much, if at all, now. The debate should rather be whether this commercial should keep playing since it perpetuates a stereotyped view of Filipinos. That isn't me being emotional, it's just pointing out exploitation and generalization. To say it's "just a commercial" is fine, but to ignore cultural repercussions is disadvantageous.

  • i hope Filipinos dont get offended by this. alam mo naman tayo, napaka emotional.

  • This video is stupid. Come on, Butuan City is not MADRID. This just shows how ignorant the commercial directors are about the Philippines. The map says the setting is somewhere in a city in Mindanao BUT actually it's in the Ifugao province in Luzon which is very far from the supposed setting of the commercial.

  • ROFL, Check your map again. Meron talagang Barangay "Madrid" sa Mindanao.

So this commercial is somewhat accurate.

  • anong province? anyway i'm not being emotional about the ad but i was just criticizing it.

  • check mo sa google maps.. it's located somewhere in surigao

  • oo nga ano...bakit pa sa surigao?? ignorance of advertising

There is a Metro above ground in Manila. The MRT! This video should be objected to by the Philippine Embassy, and I am American! Whoa! Shame on the Madrid Metro. Such a video would never be allowed in th USA!

  • nah, we are not hispanic..we are influenced by the spanish culture..but meh..we're not hispanic..we're asians..we're filipinos...yeah!

  • I'm a Filipino live in Mindanao, Philippines. My parents speak our dialect Chivocano or simply know as Spanish.

  • Asians, or for that matter, Filipinos are not consistently treated with respect in Spain; its worse in some areas. Barcelona seems to be more tolerant and respectful of diverse ethnic backgrounds. Madrid not so. Our close friends, a couple went to Spain. While the wife who is clearly "mestiza" (Spanish-Filipino) was treated as an equal, the husband who is more ethnic Asian-looking was treated like dirt by the same people.

  • Perdona, pero me cuesta creerlo.

  • Nobody said you had to believe it. The point is this kind of stuff isn't uncommon in Spain.

  • Just because it may not always be blatant racism does not mean it does not exist. Spain is a nation where racism has manifested itself in ways other than discrimination. It's not just Spain, though. What I am pointing out is the broader context to which colonial racist and ethnocentric ideas still persist in ways other than bald-faced racism, regardless of whether or not people like you deny it.

  • Obviously, Filipinos aren't accepted in many Latin American countries either.... Yet they beleive they have such a close relationship with the Hispanic world... that's something I will never understand....?

  • How sad that people of Filipino descent don't get it. The Spanish seem to be still riding their on their high horses, what with Filipinos being maids and menial laborers in Spain. By promoting this Metro ad, you're promoting tbe arrogance and condescending attitude of the Spanish towards Filipinos. The days of Filipino slave labor in the galleon trades to Mexico died eons ago. How sad to see the colonial attitudes still persist.

  • it's romanticizing the asianess of being filipino - organic, non-materialistic, non-western which to me is what enlightened americans and europeans are craving for. The Germans loved the old Boracay that had no running water and electricity. Now, it's considered a nightmare by Europeans, but heaven by Filipinos because of its modern amenities. I know this, that is why I'm going back to the Philippines and recreate the Philippines that is portrayed here MINUS the METRO...

  • How it be considered a "nightmare" by Europeans when the largest influx of tourists come from Scandinavia, Germany, and most recently, Russia? Contrary to your point, the majority of major hotels and resorts are paid for with European money. It is also not "romanticizing" Filipinos as "organic and non-materialistic" - it "romanticizes" Filipinos as yearning to become "industrialized" like the Spanish. Too much wrong with this video to be able to type out.

  • I can't believe how much this commercial demeans and belittles Filipinos, portraying them as uncivilized and putting Spaniards so high up on a pedestal. Bullshit. Spain was and continues to be a racist society.

  • lol stop overthinking it man its a commercial i love how philippines looks here anyways so peaceful =)

  • Clearly you miss my point. this commercial reaches hundreds upon thousands of viewers in Spain who now have an image of Filipinos being uncivilized, ignorant people (the same Spanish/European idea that has existed for decades). This is just another corporate attempt to make Filipinos look stupid. Maybe read up on your history of Western views toward the people of the Philippines and you won't be so permissive.

  • surethere are some people who think that but stop over thinking it man. its just a commercial. this is just showing a unurban part of philippines turning metro did it say the whole philippines was like this? i get your point and i understand your upset ok? not every european thinks that

  • .... you still do not understand the point I am making. You clearly lack the ability to view this in a larger context other than for its sheer entertainment value. The fact of the matter is that these portrayals of the Filipino people do not help the perpetual Western view of my people. Trust me. I'm not as "upset" as you think. I'm just pointing out racism when I see it, since people like you refuse to. Go to Spain today and see what "class" Spanish society associates with Filipinos.

  • look i clearly see what your stating ok?

its not saying anything about filipinos in this ad !! or saying that they are barbaric. my country IS 3rd world beleive it or not just like what the ad displays nothing racist about being advertised as 3rd world country when its true ..

  • plus i went to madrid to visit family and i was treated with utmost respect by spaniard clerks when i went to buy groceries and buying candy there

  • Watch closely. It is a total misrepresentation of Filipino peasant culture. The "Filipinos" are speaking Tagalog. The locals of the municipality of Madrid, Surigao del Sur province don't even speak Tagalog, they speak Surigaonon. The hats they are wearing are also Vietnamese. A goat at the Metro? Not even a caribao or pig? Do you not recognize the stereotyping that is occuring?

  • I'm not doubting that if you walk up to any Spaniard that they would treat you "with respect". I'm saying that if you ask a common Spaniard what class they associate with Filipinos, they will associate Filipinos with being "lower class". This is evident in Spain, where Filipinos serve as maids, waiters/waitresses, janitors. Portrayals such as this perpetuate the racist image of a philistine, unintellectual Filipino.

  • @iRepTown TRUE!

  • "You clearly lack the ability to view this in a larger context other than for its sheer entertainment value."

    exactly. hay nako.

  • hey!..the first Filipinos were Spaniards born in the Philippines. The natives were called 'Indios' . There was a rift between Spaniards born in Spain and those born in the Philippines. Those born in Spain were called 'Peninsulares', while the latter were called 'insulares'. So yeah, in a way Filipinos speak Spanish.

Study your history again dude. And yeah.. up until 1970 Spanish was part of the curriculum. I know because my parents studied it.

  • there's a kid fight going on here!!

  • DonMiguel1810,

    TO YOUR QUESTION:

"And how is Tagalog a Latin form? The only real Latin language you listed is Spanish and you know neither you nor other filipinos speak it.

    MY ANSWER:

You can hallucinate for your answers.

But all I can say My grandparents until in their last breath speaks and pray in Spanish.

  • You still haven't told me how Tagalog is a Latin form?

You are the only one hallucinating here.

  • Some Spaniards look down on Latinos. They hate the fact that there are Latinos living in Spain. One poor Latina even got kicked in the face inside a "Metro". The Spanish boy was so furious to see a Latina inside the bus.

  • what's the problem with the girl's clothes, 20 percent of the Filipinos are of chinese descent... and these people are not only city dwellers, they can also be found in rural areas, but they already converted to catholic religion in catholic dominated philippines, and to islam in western mindanao... they changed their first name to that of christian, but still retain some aspect of chinese culture... so what's inaccuracy there? Philippines is a nation of different nations!!!

  • for the the imbecil, idiot, and stupid anglo westerners and indochinese hulabaloos... long before spaniards came to the philippines we alredy use the same hat as those worn by vietnamese, the filipino version is more elaborate, bigger and come from different material, we call it the "salakot", before spanish conquest most filipinos were either muslims or hindus, thus our "salakot" is more ornate than the vietnamese counterpart. our ancestors even used turtle shells adorned with jewelry..

  • hahaha. the kid is wearing vietnamese clothing. hahaha. XD not so accurate.

  • u fucktard its in the philippines u dumbfuck

  • am anong meron? nagkakagulo yata rito ahahahahaha

  • Its located in Mindanao but why are they speaking in Tagalog??

  • that is not philippines. it looks like vietnam. lol.

  • correction, they look down on you coz' you are pandak (shorty) huwag mo kaming idamay. (speak for yourself) ikaw lang ( your delusion is yours alone) LOL

the metaphor of the Ad is to help the philippines transportation system and fund progress. meaning spain have not forgotten us. tonto.

  • you better read our history then you tell me if we're not connected to mexico and spain. well i agree that we're asians and it's just the hispanic filipino who's saying that they're hispanic.

  • well, i liked the warmth of this commercial.

  • I, for one, really loved this promotional video. I loved it when I watched it when it was shown to us by McCann-Erickson (during an Ad-talk seminar thing) and I still love it now. :) Thanks for sharing.

  • Their costumes look like Vietnamese or Thai. Isn't it? And the guy is not a filipino, i think. He mispronounces some Tagalog words.

  • No, they're really Filipinos from a province here. Apparently, the Spanish McCann-Erickson Ad agency who did the commercial realized that they were lacking a few dialogues or it had errors or something like that (I forgot which) and so, they had some lines translated and they dubbed over a few parts, therefore the mispronounciation. :P (Someone from the Phil. McCann-Erickson agency told us this, I just forgot who...)

  • yes, i agree with u "reasonableskeptic", some of their costumes looks vietnamese. we filipinos seldom wear vietnamese look-alike hat. well, some main characters are really pinoy actors except "carding" whose accent don't sounds pinoy. even our relatives & friends who stayed several decades abroad didn't lost their pinoy accent perhaps if their kids where born there.

  • Latinas compared to Spain's women, Latinas hands down are the most incredible, and most gorgeous women alive, we all can agree on that.

  • i don't get it..

  • filipinos are always bitter about their colonial past. that's why they cannot move on as a nation because of being so stuck up in the past. they are also selective in which to hate. they hate more the spanish colonialism than the american one. they hate everything spanish but love everything american. they are willing to die just to go to the US and be a TNT. they love the idea of working as care givers to their old american colonial masters... why?

  • Why do you say that? Under what basis do you place your statements? Do you think they really hate the Spanish people? Do you think they prefer being caregivers to foreigners and be far away from their families? (I am just asking and mean no offense of course.)

  • I say this from my personal experience and the experience of a lot of my friends. Sadly, a lot of Filipinos in the Philippines still think of the Spaniards as the evil colonizers. Ask young Filipinos specially nurses, PTs and caregivers whether they want to work in the US or in Spain. Most of them will prefer to go to the US than Spain even though it is harder to get a US visa. They risk all; they go to the US just with tourist visas and pay thousands to lawyers just to fix their situation.

  • It is true that most Filipinos still have a negative image of the Spanish because of the history between the two countries, but they really aren't as stuck up on the past as you describe. I'm Spanish with a half-Filipina mom, and in my 10 years living in the Philippines I haven't encountered anyone who really gave a shit. On the contrary, they were curious and joked about it a lot.

  • Imho, Americans and Europeans are the ones who can't keep the pàst behind them the most... the only difference is that they are not bitter(why would they be, they won), and about the migrating bit, you should check the current economy in Spain. Life is way too expensive here, especially for the Madrileños. Anyways, I can't wait to go back to the Philippines on 2009. Here I come Iloilo!!!

  • Lucky for you my friend. I wish all the Filipinos I meet are the same way. That's why I'm thinking that the Visayans are more open to their Hispanic heritage than here in the Tagalog Region. In Manila, it is very different.

  • american colonizers were more evils. Spanish brought their culture, intermarriage with the locals, when left the country left forever, as they did in Latin America, not like the english and the AMERIcan, they are still there colonizing, even if was granted the independence to the country.

  • @norix12345... who said filipinos love to work as caregivers and wiling to die in US and be aTNT? Filipinos have NO choice but to grab any available work outside the Philippines. We are a victims of force migration. Our country who are being over exploited by the imperialist country like US and Spain and the never ending corruption of local govt' officials, made the Philippines a 3rd world country. We migrated in order to survive.

  • Spain never exploited the Philippines. It actually put more resources in that it took away.

Don't mistake the Philippines with South America, they are two completely different stories.

The Philippines under Spain was one of the richest places in Asia and the envy of all of its neighbors.

  • This statement "Spain never exploited the Philippines" is ignorant and irresponsible. Clearly the person who wrote this does not know the history of the country.

  • You are confusing Spain with the United States,

Spain never exploited the Philippines, the United States did to an unimaginable extent, far beyond mere cruelty.

Just Google "Kill Every One Over Ten"

The country was one of the richest places in Asia under Spain. United States left in shambles.

Those are documented, historical facts, and not acknowledging them is both ignorant, irresponsible and derisive towards Filipino people.

  • I know exactly the history of the Balanginga Massacre and I am not confusing the history of Spanish cruelty to the Philippines. Please review Jose Rizal's Noli Me Tangere and the entire cause behind La Loga Filipina and hundred of thousands of death during the Revolution. Clearly you must recognize that the National Heroes from Mabini to Bonifacios revolted against some "kind of" cruelty?

  • You must be talking about the Balangiga affair, where more than forty American soldiers were killed in a surprise guerrilla attack.

The subsequent retaliation by American troops resulted in the killing of more than 2000 Filipinos on Samar, the majority of whom were civilians. The Gen. Jacob H. Smith, who had ordered the killing of everyone ten years old and over.

Cowards ! Killing children to retaliate for being defeated on military actions is something that the Spanish never did.

  • Obviously you are trying to deflect the hundreds of years of suffering of the Filipino people under Spain by pasting texts taken from google. The fact remains that Spain and America both committed humanitarian crimes towards their subjects and this denial you are going through because of your own disbelief over historical

facts is creating your "delusions". Your refusal to acknowledge the sacrifices of many Filipinos who fought Spain & America is insulting to their memories.

  • "Kill Everyone Over Ten. I want no prisoners. I wish you to kill and burn; the more you kill and burn, the better it will please me... The interior of Samar must be made a howling wilderness...

    — Gen. Jacob H. Smith

  • Imperialism and Expansionism killed many, please dont kill the memories of those who died for freedom because of your ignorance. This is cruel.

  • All those hundred of thousands of Filipino children didn't die only because of your self-imposed ignorance. They died because of the cruelty and meanness of someone like you. I know your coward, misleading type and I am convinced that if you had lead the American troops you would have done the same, if not worse.

  • Que barbaridad! Is that the end of your argument? How very mature...you are indeed clueless of my countries history.

Maybe you should go back home and please stop typing information you know nothing off.

  • There were no "hundred of thousands dead during the Revolution" instigated by the US, not even tens of thousands. But the American occupation ended in 1902 with over one million Filipinos ( over 20% of the Filipino population) killed, and in many cases exterminated.

The Spanish never did anything even remotely similar to that. Learn a little about History, those are historical facts, and not acknowledging them is both ignorant, irresponsible and derisive towards Filipino people.

  • I know based on years of studying our history. I am a Filipino who grew up in the Philippines and not abroad where historical data can be manipulated. Maybe you should be more responsible by acknowledging the cruelties of Spain & America to my fellowmen by learning from the historical books written by FILIPINO HISTORIANS

    not to mention Cuba's case.

You can even google it if that suits your historical research.

"In the camps, over 250,000 Cuban women and children had died from Spanish cruelty."

  • @RafaelMinuesa ... the Philippines are rich in nature ... it was there before any imperialist power came to our land. Our culture and rights had been strip off for 400 hundred years and until now...

  • @Yukane64

The Philippines was one of the richest places in Asia under Spanish rule. That's a fact, the Pearl of the Orient was called back then

  • @RafaelMinuesa you meant american rule

  • @RaAyamLulz

No, I meant Spanish rule. The estimated GDP per capita for the Philippines in 1900, the year Spain left, was of $1,033.00. That made it the second richest place in all of Asia, just a little behind Japan ($1,135.00), and far ahead of China ($652.00) or India ($625.00).

All throughout the XX century, after Spain left, It never achieved that level again. It has been all the way downhill since then.

  • @RafaelMinuesa yeah, it was supposed to be one of the wealthiest... but the spanish left with most of these riches... and 300 years of gains from the philippines would certainly have its effects. filipinos feel the effects until now... not only the economic effects, but cultural effects. there, we could trace why most filipino politicians are traditionally corrupt..... one has to do a historical analysis to comprehend this... werk it!

  • @levilicious

The Spanish had no time to take anything with them. And surely you don't expect them to take Quezon Bridge, or the train system with them.

Spain put in far more resources than it took away from the Philippines. The government was advised on several occasions to just abandon the place as it wasn't profitable, but the Church insisted in evangelizing the islands.

Neighbouring Indonesia has the same levels of corruption, but it is Muslim and no Spaniards ever set foot there.

  • @RafaelMinuesa 300 years and no time? in the first place, what do you think was the reason why these europeans did these explorations and colonizations? and, if one is going to take something away from a country, do you think they would go for bridges? or train systems (that weren't still existent those days)? that's not how you take something from a country.... by resources, we don't only think of infrastructure, we also think of human resources, capitalism potentials... you get what i mean?

  • @levilicious

What I meant is that both Quezon Bridge, or the train system were built by the Spanish government, along with many infrastructures you're surely aware of.

  • @RafaelMinuesa moreover, when other countries experience the same social illnesses brought about colonizations by other european countries aside from spain, it doesn't mean that they could already get away with it. have you read noli me tangere and el filibusterismo? did you get one very important detail in those books regarding the kind of spanish friars and priests were sent to the philippines to practically lead the country? werk it honey, werk it!

  • @levilicious

Rizal and many others wrote about the abuses of some friars, and they did it in the hope that the government in Spain took notice and did something about it. Unfortunately, the central government took sides with the very friars who were being denounced.

There was a pamphlet in the Philippines at the time that read the following::

"Viva España! Viva el Rey! Viva el Ejercito! Fuera los Frailes!”

(“Long Live Spain! Long Live the King! Long Live the Army! Down with the Friars! )

  • @levilicious

It must be said also that the friars Rizal was denouncing had very little or nothing to do with the first missionaries, who Rizal also admired.

Google Juan de Plasencia, and then Salvador Font, for example, to see the huge difference.

  • @Yukane64 There might have been suffering. But it is true that the Philippines was wealthy during Spanish rule (esp. when Spain governed through Mexico).

  • Cool!! i'm Filipino!!

  • viva la hispanidad!!!

    viva las filipinas!!!

  • ok im Hispanic and i know i have Spanish blood in me but im not proud of that because they killed the other part of my heritage the indians

but i guess a lot of Hispanics dont care about our Spanish side lol we see them as murders vampires if you know what i mean

  • I don't know why someone gave you a thumbs down...but I gave you a thumbs up

I agree with you...im filipino with No spanish blood and I hate how some filos(especially those in the US) like to nut hug on SPain for making them second hand citizens.

  • yeah, this commercial is strange. the marketing people for the madrid metro must have a filipino person working there, cause this wouldnt have ocured to regular marketing peeps.
