The current one is made at Foxconn City. The demand of the American consumer to get everything dirty cheap has push these products to be made in China. You can't have top-notch Japanese-like quality anymore for $250.00. Sorry., In order to be profitable and reach that price, some things will have to be compromise. It's cheaper to make it at Foxconn than at Flextronics. Quality issues are not due to country of origin but to design.  Blame Microsoft for the defects and rings of dead.
