I saw petty in cowtown too from what I remember it rocked he tore the saddledome down. Personal favourite tune was You don't know how it feels wish I woulda had better seats oh well...

I saw Tom Petty in Calgary, Canada a couple of years ago and he rocked us unrelentingly for 2 hours.  Clearly, watching this video, this affirms Petty and his band are musicians first and foremost rather than concert performers. It was a tight performance. I am glad that this is available on You Tube for others to true and proud rock at its finest.

great concert! i live right by the santa monica civic center and i drive by it all the time! i wish i could have been alive at that time to see all those amazing bands that played there. I did see TP and The Heartbreakers last year at the Hollywood Bowl and it was a great!

My FIRST concert--amazing that it's here for me to watch! Thanks! I used to mow Petty's lawn and take out his trash with a friend as Petty rented a house on our street. One day he asked if we wanted to blow up balloons for an upcoming show at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium--we gladly accepted; we blew up balloons for a half hour and then stood front row center for the show before backstage New Year's festivities with the band and others. Lots of strong punch. I had just turned 15.

Sounds amazing, I wish I could have seen this live...but I was born in 1991. But I saw them last year for my first concert, and they are still fantastic. I love this band, and I'm glad I could be of assistance in helping you relive this concert. Great concert.
