I suffered with pancreatitis for 4 days before I went to the ER. It's is the worst pain I've ever felt. I couldn't lie flat on my back and had to sleep in a lazy boy chair, just to make the pain go away. My digestive system also shut don't so I couldn't pee or have any bowel movements. I turned yellow and had a high fever. I spent 3 days in the hospital, high on pain killers, and was only able to eat ice chips.

Would be good if you sorta label it or just describe what they are doing ..it was the first I see pancreas if it was shown..so different to the images in the textbook

I had this cause of alcohol. Spent over two weeks in icu and another two weeks in a ward. I had 3 brushes with death and still get pains 5 months later. Stopped drinking grog too

Hi my dads in ICU right now after his pancreas was infected due to constant drinking even after being diagnosed a year ago with pancreatitis, hes been in ICU for about 4 days and been sedated the whole time, a large part of his pancreas has died and its poisening his blood, but hes been stable all the time and has not got better or worse from what they are giving him, whats it like? can he still pull through?

I had acute pancreatitis and have never been in so much pain. I had a problem with gall stones blocking the pancreas, which is a problem because the pancrea can start to dissolve itself. Thankfully my gall bladder has now been removed and problem solved.

where I met him in the morning..he was in soo much pain they did X-rays, Ultrasounds..he was sweating tremendously...vomiting...etc.­.they then told me its most probably pancreatitis...they ran the normal blood work and to find out his tryclycerids were in the thousands...long story short..his pancreas was in the process of digesting itself and there was nothing they could do but keep him comfortable..he died the following day..Thursday, 10/7/2010..R.I.P. Baby..the kids & I miss you sooo much!!!

i sit here and read all of your comments about pancreatitis...I pray for ICUpatient1 that he or she recovers and may God bless them...unfortunately for me, I lost my husband to acute pancreatitis back in October of 2010. He was only 33yrs old, a truck driver and had no major medical problems. He went into work on a Wednesday morning..said he was not feeling too well that he thought he had food poisening from a bad turkey sub he had the day before...he drove himself to the emergency room....

Pancreatitis pain is NO JOKE! It is excruciatingly panful and you will be admitted to hospital and given morphine or something stronger for the pain! You will not be able to eat anything! Eating makes the pain worse!

The doctors removed a large part of my pancreas so now I'm a diabetic. While in the hospital I lost 40 pounds because I couldn't eat anything. The experiance changed my life because I stoped doing the destructive things that got me into the situation. I only drink on occasion, I have a healthy diet and I am a completly different person. People counted me out but I kept fighting. Anyone in a similer situation should never give up, keep fighting. Hope goes a long way!!!

Pancreatitis changed my life, On October 31st 2006 I checked into the hospital. I went into the hospital because I was experiancing so much pain, I couldn't walk, talk, eat, drink and I had a hard time breathing. When I got into the hospital they gave me a sleeping pill. Pancreatitis is usuall on the right hand side of the body and the pain radiates to the back and chest! Pancreatitis can be excruciatingly painful.

I woke up on the bathroom floor, everything was blurry, my mother in law found me called 911, she said i was white... (Im mexican)! The pain had never been so bad. After that i was in and out of concience. Last thing i remember I looked up at a white light, looked ever and i was on an operating table. They were putting me under. Woke up a few days later and the doc said "HI u have pancreatitis we took a peice" oh yeah no more gallbladder it was the size of a mango. i was only 18.

im only 30 and recently started having sharp burning abdominal pains that seem to start on my left side under my diaphragm and radiates across the front and to my back. ive become gassy and feel hunger pains a lot although i dont want to eat. ive also noticed that after i do eat my sugar apikes up and im not diabetic.

could this be pancreatitis? it also seems that everything makes me sick. anything i eat, especially in the morning, makes my stomach hurt all day.

My mom died from pancreatitis a year ago. She was 64 years old. Everything started one day she said she felt pain. 1 or 2 weeks later she was in intensive care. This is the worst experience of my life, I saw her agonize for 6 days. I still can't recover. I hope God help us.

@tjsdca my best friend gram ma died for pancreitis also, it started with reallly bad hemroids, why i dont know, but then the pancreais, she lasted only 2wk in the hospital, omg to ur mom and grahm rip, god bless us all

Surviving pancreatitis is like dying, but you don't give to leave. Nothing in my life is the same. Everything I was ended in one freaking day. Physical recovery was about three months, other recoveries took nearly a year. But, my world is just not as it was, nor will it every be.

Every day I have the same pain,I am on strong opiates and being a musician they destroy creativity.

I had my first attack in 2001and my G.I. consultant wont do jack.

I vomit alot,

It took 7 years to tell me I had gallstones,but a year after my "lap/choli"I am worse.I have extreme difficulty going out as I rightly think vomiting in public places is not 'polite'

I had Pancreatitis when my Specialist accidently nicked the main valve in the Pancreas when doing a biopsie on a Tumor in the head of my pancreas.... Im only 29 and am now in recovery after the Whipples Procedure.... This by far is the most fucked up thing Ive ever had to go through... My heart goes out to everyone else thats going through it too....Just stay positive and try laugh about anything you can... Its only a suggestion but it helps my days go by :)

I have had Pancreatitis twice in one year intervals. The specialists have no idea why this is happening to me (other than the possibility of alcohol) as all of my organs are as they should be. I would like to have a gallstone of some explanation as to why I have this rather than have nothing and live my life in fear not knowing when of if I will ever die due to this. Pancreatitis can be hereditary, genetic, you can also be very sensitive to alcohol (like me) as two beers can be a trigger.

I had Pancreatitis Last year I can tell u One of the worst things n e one cud ever go through..I was in so much pain that the world jus stops around u And still till this day I suffer Pains every single nite and i will never be able to have the chance to comsume alcohol.. Mine wasnt caused By alcohol Comsumption But i can Tell Ya if Ur a Binge drinker and u wanna End up Like all the others out there who have had this u shud think twice...Its Bloody Hurts LOL and its a life sentance :)

Pancreatitis is horrible! It feels crampy! Excruciating pains on right lower side of body!

Pancreatitis can be acute and become chronic and can turn into pancreatic cancer!

If you are drinking alcohol and have chronic pancreatitis, you need to stop drinking immediately!

I no longer drink but I think the damage is done. I was doing better from this most recent bout but I am hurting very bad now, based on what I ate last night. I'm nearly certain this is what I have.

Symptoms of pancreatitis include extreme belching, pain in the lower right abdomen, constipation, The pain can be extreme and you must go to the hospital for pain treatment and counseling!
