  • I love Alan Alda and Alec Baldwin, but they're such dicks here.

  • Juan Trippe make masses commercial aviation, introducing first Jet airplane (apart from the Comet) make a first deal to Build the 747, introducing first low fare classes call the Rainbow Fare, after the WorldPass, built the entire Pacific aviation stopper point including at Wake Island that used by the US Military during the WW2. It would not be happening without the "plotter" in "The Aviator.

    Howard Hughes???? Hmmmmmm....................

  • @peterFans I absolutely agree with you! Hughes was a great person and Pan Am was a monopoly, but even knowing this, I think, that Juan T. Trippe had greater influence in aviation and his abilities were a little better for running an airline.

  • I believe i've even been called an eccentric...

  • "Buy a lot of Lobsters, do they?"

    lol

  • Did Howard Hughes actually say these things in court?

  • @Kotlettbengt Yes

  • @Kotlettbengt A few slight changes.. But yes...

  • Why didn't DeCaprio get an Oscar for this movie? Seriously?

  • He does not own the sky!Epic

  • he got a wort on his finger

  • Dicaprio got robbed at the Oscars in 2004, man! No way Jamie Foxx´s portrayal of Ray Charles was better...no fu%$in way!

  • @RideMyBMW I have to agreed with you, Howard Hughes life was alot more interesting than Ray Charles..

  • @RideMyBMW Agreed!

  • @RideMyBMW i agree!

  • 5:24

  • And has anyone else noticed what it took me 3 times of watching this movie to really truly notice? When Alec Baldwin, in the role of Juan Trippe, turns off the TV after declaring that the Senate hearings are over, after he outlines the route around the globe TWA will begin to fly, and says, with a sigh and slight shake of the head, "Fuck." that it's the ONLY time in the film where anyone uses that word? Making it's use that much more powerful and significant.

  • The best part is actually when he says...

"I've lost MILLIONS Senator... and I'll go on losing millions. It's just... what I do."

with a wave of his hand like it's nothing. At a time when millions were like what billions are now. That was ballsy in a way very few people ever have the chance to be.

  • indeed :D - both sides - !!!!!! Hehehe

  • notice how Scorsese captures Hughes's OCD with shot composition and editing ... brilliant!

  • more volume would have been super!!!

  • MADE ME CRY...

IT MAKES ME REMEMBER WHEN A POOR AND HUMBLE GUY FACE THE RICH MEN... AND UNMASK, EXPOSE THEIR ROTTENS....

THE DIFFERENCE HERE IS THAT HUGHES WAS RICH....

    i REALIZED THAT CAUSE I DID AN ENVIROMENT ARRAIGNMENT;;;

  • He completely decimated senator brewster and the committee.....

  • Add the tag yt:stretch=16:9 to fix the squish effect.

  • Juan Trippe and the American Government got owned!

  • alan ada ( think thats his name)

has been an ass it alot of movies i've seen him do

  • Too bad the only reason it flew was the result of ground effect. Kind of ruined me for this movie

  • @EyeSawRed

What do you mean? Are you referring to the Hercules flying? If you are, look it up. It flew. That's all he wanted to prove. And he achieved it.

  • @EyeSawRed

    No it wasn't!

  • cool

  • do caprio tried really really hard to get his voice right for dis role to fit this american period.

  • As I watch this.....I am realizing that Alan Alda is doing one hell of a great acting job

  • You cut the best part: "Tell Juan Trippe to kiss -both sides- of my ass."

  • @nubbie1944

Well, to be fair, that part was about 30 minutes earlier in the film

  • @nubbie1944

Eh, he cut out a lot of good stuff.

  • DeCaprio does an amazing job on getting deep into what we know about Hughes, fantastic job!

  • decaprio is a great actor (even though i hate him in titanic).

  • @angelinasiel That was thirteen years ago, you should be over it by now. I loved him in pretty much every movie he's ever done. His acting is always superb. I didn't notice anything particulary good or unusually bad about his role in Titanic. It was just another solid effort, like always.

  • @clubincali, you're right. i meant he is too good to play.. (i don't know how to put it into words). he was amazing in 'what's eating gilbert grape' and maybe i was disappointed when he chose this type of a role.

  • @amozartii its funny because while dicaprio was trying to own pan am airways, dicaprio was stealing money from pan am airways at the same time in another movie

  • Why are these scenes edited in such a sloppy manner?? Whoever put this together needs to stop puttin videos on youtube. Seriously, you cut scenes here, you cut em there....its so choppy and amateurish, like the work of a 1st year film student. Please stop puttin your re- edited movies on youtube. It looks like shit!

  • its a great movie, yeah, but im not sure that i cired, lol.

  • This almost made me cry.

Hughes Tool is a part of General Motors

Hughes tool makes drilling bits for oil drilling. That is the company Howard Hughes father ran.

    I love seeing the Hercules..fly

The scene almost made me cry...very intense ,

  • I did cry. My mom knew Noah Deitrich(money manager for Howard Hughes). Unfortunately...I don't know Jack. Does anyone know if the Hughes Tool and Die company was involved in tunnel boring for Deep Underground Military Bases? How much did Howard Hughes know about our involvement with aliens...and the acquisition of alien technology? Could this have been one of the things which made him eccentric and eventually crazy?

  • Hughes was Bi Polar.

This is what caused, the strange behavior. Hughes needed treatment for the Bi Polar.

  • @DorothyDandrich

More of his strange behavior was caused by his extreme case of OCD. I have never read anywhere that he was Bi Polar. Though it is certainly plausible. But his primary, and most crippling, mental condition was an EXTREME case of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder.

  • That should have been in the film.

ODIE: Howard, there are aliens everywhere and we have their technology.

HOWARD: Aaaah! Show me all the aliens, show me all the aliens, I'm serious, show me all the aliens.

  • Leo should have one an oscar by now!!!

  • Leonardo DiCaprio was awesome in this movie as was Kate Blanchett as Audrey Hepburn. It is little wonder it got 5 academy awards. It deserved all the credit it received.

  • She played Katherine Hepburn

  • one of my favorite movies

  • Politics ass usual in Washington DC. But not many men with his backbone. Usually they are shot and killed when they speak up these days.

  • not if you worth more than an Billion dollar...

  • class. rip hh

  • The senate hearing scene made this movie for me

  • @LCPStud

    Ditto.
