  • yea true Scbuababe20 but there are good wreck discovery/dive accident videos and stories on the net too. My favourite site is the myscubastory site. They have tonnes of real life dive stories and videos. Type myscubastory into google and its the first result

  • I have dove Devils Throat a half a dozen times. There is a Very narrow spot, but surprisingly, divers fit through. Then we exited at 130' to the abyss!! Amazing! This is a very advanced dive and I recommend doing it early during the week of your stay. That way you aren't all gassed up and your computer wont beep at you. Do Not use nitrox for this dive.

  • i think its the second entrance ,cuz the main entrance is deeper and darker but this entrance is neat too

  • Are you Cavern certified?

  • Back in the 80's Pancho and the guys would let me off the boat early, they knew where, and then I'd make my way back up to enter from the deep end and just be sitting there in the tunnel doing a bit of coral gardening for mother nature and just connecting with the wonders of mother Earth when the dive group made their way through with the guides. Back then it was pretty much the end of the days when sex was safe and diving was dangerous. Thanks for the memories... ;-)

  • Just dove it Sunday, the 20th enter at 90 exit at 130 it was amazing...

  • Lucky devil.

  • Couple of questions....were you all on Nitrox? It sounds like someone (either the videographer or someone near him) is breathing very shallow and fast, particularly at that depth. Any problems with Claustrophobia?

  • Nobody was on nitrox. The breathing is mine, but it's not shallow. I tend to breathe in short sips, in very slowly and out very slowly but it sounds like short fast breaths. I had my tiny moment of anxiety as we entered the tunnel, but I figured if our divemaster wasn't worried, I shouldn't be. It wouldn't be good PR if the divemasters got a reputation for losing their clients.

  • I am a SCUBA diving Instructor and did 10 years as Divemaster in Cozumel. I dove Punta Sur hundreds of times and let me tell you that the divemaster that you went with, does not know devil's throat beacause fore what a saw on the video he misst the actual throat and took you throug just another tunnel, Sorry to tell you but it is a very comon mistake

  • It was still a cool dive. I guess I'll have to go back and do it a few more times to get it right! : )

  • Just to verify, the CORAL cross was washed away by that last big hurricane BUT there is now a wooden cross in it's old resting place. This is by far my favorite dive of cozumel, gotta love it

  • wats the big deal with the cross

  • This is great! I just dove it and I have been trying to describe it to my Brother. This will do the trick!

  • So the crucifix is still there?

  • Who is Wilma?

  • Wilma was a hurricane that sat on Cozumel causing a lot of underwater damage.

  • ok.i thought it was a person who got stuck underwater and drowned xd

  • keep us posted please.

  • i just watched this amazing video..How many people know where this cross is besides yourself?

  • I would say that all the divemasters in Cozumel know about it, therefore many of the divers who have been there knew about it too. I've heard that it was still there, AND that it was blown away in the hurricanes. I don't know which is true. I'll have to go back and find out!

  • I have diving Cozumel for over 25 years and can tell you that the coral cross has been gone for at least 4 or 5 years from Devil's throat. Tahnks so much for capturing it on video. I never did take any pics of it because i really just got into underwater photog. in last 4 years.

  • What, you didn't remove it to sell to the hordes of idiots on eBay?

  • Dang! I never thought of that! Besides, I would have had 100 god-fearing Cozumel divemasters after my blood.

  • wow that is really cool

  • It was a sponge in the shape of a crucifix. VERRRRRY EERIE! I haven't been back since these dives, I wonder if it's still there especially after Katrina. I heard that a lot of these coral heads were lost. They were on a steep incline and if they blew over...

  • Just came back from Cozumel. Most of the island have recovered from Wilma. And yes, the crucifix remains in its original place. The diving is still the best & 84F warm.

  • Wonderful! Glad to hear you had a good trip and the island is doing well. It has always been one of my favorite dive spots.

  • Good dive video. I was there 3 months after Wilma and last week, did the Devil's throat both times. I am not sure what whirlythree was looking at but the crucifix was definitely lost to Wilma. Very sad. One of my best friends is a Cozumel DM and he used to make a prayer there everytime we dove it. You are right they would have hunted you down.
