  • beautiful melody, in my sounds of the silences.......... mmmmmm remember that all... please wait one moment more,,,, you understand me.. truth...... melodyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

  • Awsome song

  • Simply elegant. Soothing to the ears.

  • Meravigliosa. Mi commuovo sempre a sentirla..

  • da brividi......

  • haha Trey Songs and other should watch Babel :))

  • sakamoto made me like the sound of piano..

  • Who is Trey Songs?

  • @MagnumColtranePrice an R&B singer... he made a song called "Can't Be Friends" and this was the musical piece but was speed up!

omg we danced off this song!11

  • lol @ the trey songz haters. u guys probably have no singing talent at all.

  • STILL give credit where its due....to Mr. Ryuichi Sakamoto

  • i thought trey songz producer sampled a sample...in other words in the actual song its no piano...Aether - Variance

  • just beauty

  • thumbs up if you cried like an idiot when you first heard this

  • @jcjcjc94 I always cry like an idiot when i hear this form of beauty

  • this is a timeless song for me...doesnt matter if i´m sad or happy...its always beautiful

  • When Trey Songz bought this song from a producer he probably didn't even know it's from Ryuichi Sakamoto

  • If anything, I think people should be more-so appreciative of the fact that whoever decided to use this song for "Can't Be Friends" felt that it was just that beautiful. I don't think it's a diss, or trying to make it sound better, or whatever. It's just out of appreciation. I like both songs. Sometimes I'm in the mood to hear Trey (which isn't as often as it used to be), sometimes I'm more in the mood to hear this.

  • @pinkkizzez120 At last, someone who gets it.

  • Fucking brilliant!

  • this song made me cry n wonder what my purpose in life is.. its that deep to me

  • Most of the time he looks like he is getting head.

  • nice.....

  • Luv it! First heaerd it about 10 yrs ago.

  • Wow, it does sound rather similar to Trey Songz. I think this is better though. <3

  • @SuperCaramelcupcake Same for a Dutch artist ( rapper ) Manu ft Neo - Jij its realy nice.

  • 1:12 gives me goose pimples. This piece resonates with the soul - it's so beautiful and logical... I feel completely at ease and peace when listening.

  • Who's Trey Songz?

  • i love you

  • Lets be honest. Thumbs up if Trey Songz brought you here. lol

  • @liljayjay260 im trying to hear it lol

  • @liljayjay260 Actually, Aether's "Variance" did.

  • @liljayjay260 what is this crap. gtfo. trey songz did not bring me here. This comment brought me to trey songz and made me upset as a mofucka. Ruinign something so beautiful.

  • @liljayjay260 Shame at you :-(

  • @liljayjay260 but na, aether ;DDDD

  • Trey Songz - Can't Be Friends

  • BELLISSIMA!!!!

  • puts a smile on my face just to see the expressions he makes with his face lol but yeah he is amazinggggg. better than mozart (sorry i cant spell) for me

  • treyy songzz cant be friendz yepp samee beatt

  • 6 frustrated musicians couldn't even imitate Sakamoto's faces...

  • I want to thank Trey Songz for allowing me to hear the real soul journey and brilliance this masterpiece was intended to be... Thumbs us if you agree

  • Trey Songz! :)

  • @ILuvOmarionG Trey Songz should've never used this masterpiece. Horrible!

  • @ShimaUta86 but think of it this way, a lot of people probably never knew about this 'til trey songz producer guy sampled it.

  • @ShimaUta86 Ryuichi's original piece is an emotional and beautifully orchestrated work. Nonetheless, I wouldn't knock Trey Songz for sampling it. Look at it like this: a generation of people unfamiliar with Ryuichi and/or classical compositions are now discovering the genre and appreciating it. Trey's R&B interpretation still captures the emotion of heartbreak and makes you fell something.

  • Beautiful ! And beyond!

  • His music is so beautiful!! Eres grande Sakamoto!! :D Te amo.

  • i cried. it was beautiful.

  • Sakamoto's music brings out the mystery that we don't usually notice, and he plays it with such gentleness that we can do nothing but stop and listen, as we become more aware...he also has this beautiful way of bringing out the feeling, his work is art.

  • his soul is playing. just lovely

  • music dont need lyrics when u can feel it inside u and if u hear carefully u understand the lyrics even there are no singers ^^ just beutyfull deep touching music :)

  • True MUSIC LOVERS will enjoy music even the ones without lyrics like this. those people who call themselves music lovers but only like songs with lyrics are a hundred percent failures, feelers, and baggy people

  • What movie is this from ?

  • @laginahunley babel

  • @laginahunley from the ending of Babel

  • Trey Songz brought me here!

  • @dbleek lol me too!

  • @dbleek

Trey songz just be friends and janet jackson nothing ?!

    Stile unico esecuzione impeccabile.

  • i think the people under my comment is taking this too serious..... please just enjoy the music..... If you guys are Music Critiques or want to be one someday then that's fine.....

  • Just discovered this wonderful artist.. is he very popular, and I'm just out of touch? I found him because Trey Songz sampled this song.

  • this song is very nice at midnight... makes you think about the other side of this world..

  • lol I watched the whole video because of the expressions on his face and I actually listened to the whole song too... i enjoyed very much. Now i have a new artist to listen to. :D

  • @artyimages I envy you... You've yet to hear Energy Flow, Tong Poo, Railroad Man, Put Your Hands Up, Hibari, Rain, Seven Samurai etc... You have an amazing new artist in your life.

  • amazing

  • @tremac i understand what your trying to say, but if thats the case why dont those who "applaud trey for not butchering it" comment on Treyz video instead of this one?, Im pretty sure that most people commenting on treyz dont know that he sampled a part of bibo no aozora, Why should the people watching this one have to hear that "Trey used this as a sample in his song" all the time?.

  • @ chicoloco86 This was his music first but Trey songz sampled his music, and trey song is called "Cant be friends"

  • Comment removed

  • i know i might be in the wrong crowd....but i heard on the radio an rnb song using this piece.....anyone know the song im talking about?

  • @chicoloco86 can't be friends by trey songz samples this

  • he's the reason why I'm playing piano!!! he's just awesome and my hero!!!!!!

  • Every time I listen to his music, I feel...happy. But sad at the same time. When I'm feeling sas, it makes me feel happy to be lonely. When I'm happy, he makes me feel sad but happy to feel sad. Does that make sense? Probably not but this music is mystical in its own right...

  • whoever disliked this, go choke on a music note ..

  • I think its a shame that Trey Songz is going to receive more attention for his song than Sakamoto will for his piece.

This song is brilliant and original, it shouldn't be overshadowed by someone else's version.

  • @KHIISora

    Well said.

  • @KHIISora what are you talking about its all about what crowd you are in really musically inclined people recognize Sakamoto for this and applaud Trey for not butchering it

  • I was singing Trey Songz Cant Be Friends To This Lol

Look What This Girl Done Did Do To Me (8)

Trey Is Good For Sampling This !

    It Is Actually BOOTIFUL !

    :)

  • TREY SONGZ USED THIS IN CANT BE FRIENDS ! :)

  • beat to trey songz cant be friends 0:00-1:00

  • @123456MsBre

That's true! How wonderful that Trey sampled "Can't be friends'' from this amazing artist and song.

  • as everyone may know, Mr. Sakamoto is currently having his North American tour and I was just wondering, does he usually play this piece at every single one of his concerts? 'Cause the main reason I would go is to have a chance to actually experience this lovely, lovely piece live, a piece that no words could ever describe.

  • Wow this is exactly the same piano like in "Can't be friends" from Trey Songz look it up! =)

  • I love sakamoto

  • when i hear this, it strips my soul bare, its wonderful

  • Very emotional...my hearth collapsed.. :-/

  • Just look at his face, he doesn't even open his eyes - he is full of emotion. Just beautiful.

  • Amazing!! I truely love this song.

It reminds me of pain, comfort and combines old memories.

    I enjoy his music!!

  • Truly Simple. <3

  • Beautiful!

  • Sakamoto is truly a genius. His pieces often make me smile or weep like a newborn. After years of listening to his music, his pieces never fail to give me goosebumps. This is art.

  • angels preferred masterpiece...

  • nice to hear a slighty different version(middle section) of this song.

eventhough there isn't cello section, I just imagine that sound in my head, it just adds so much depth to this amazing tune, what a composition.

    god doesn't exist.

  • it's a simple melody, and at the same time, it's a masterpiece. Just beautiful, specially when it's placed on the babel scene

  • the most of angels sounds, perfect

and Babel is very emotional picture

  • Where can we get the piano sheet for this song and this particular version ??? can anybody help ??

  • This brings back fantastic memories of the Edinburgh concert, which was definitly the best concert I've ever been to. Now all I need to do is see Joe Hasaishi and my life will be complete haha.

  • 1:12 killer notes. I worship Ryuichi Sakamoto... My favorite ever, side by side with Joe Hisaishi... no more words needed...

  • Listen to this video : watch?v=bwhYiHJq16c

    this is a shorter version

  • Saw him last night in Manchester what a great two hours

  • Me too!! I was surprised by the amount of people that left mid way though, they missed all the best parts.

  • He's a genius!!!

He plays the piano so delicately and with much feelings. It's wonderful to see him perform!

    Kudos to Sakamoto-san! *bows*

  • omg i did not know he did this song!!!!! i was looking for this for a long time!!!!!!

  • You know, I love Sakamoto. And I love Babel. And I never knew he did this song until a minute ago...and when it started playing it hit me right down my spine. Reminds me of Chieko's story :(

    Words can't describe that...

  • Bravo.

    A classic is a classic.

He has no gray hair. He has snow on the mountain of his intellect. Play on my friend...

  • @gamasfred1 wow

i think this is the best comment iv ever red.

  • Sigh. Im not used to him getting old. Ive watched countless videos of him when he was young, and seeing him now makes me feel sad. =(

  • Man i feel like this a good example of turning old, please not in a bad way.

  • Simple. Beautiful. Genius.

  • There is such a wisdom in Sakamoto's music. It captures the mistery of life: all its complexity, pain and beauty in one sigle form.

Amazing. This is what Art is about.

  • Comment removed

  • @zmor68 Dude... totally it captures the mistery of life... oh... all its complexity ahhh..... and beauty in one single form..... JIZZ!!!

No... It's just music and don't say it's more than that. Where's the level-headedness? It's nice music, though. And I'm sure it makes people wonder about life sometimes, but that doesn't mean it's in the song. It's in your head.

  • @rrlloo1 Oh, well, just brilliant. Of course it's in my head (and heart). Where else? That's where Sakamoto is aiming: at our minds and hearts. Didn't he get yours? Well. Double-check inside some day.

  • @zmor68 Yeah, of course Sakamoto aims to touch people's hearts, it touches mine too. But that doesn't mean it "captures the complexity of life, the pain, the beauty" and all that nonsense. My point is 'you talk crap', not 'Sakamoto sucks'.

  • @rrlloo1 Well I had a feeling that I shouldn't have responded to your first trolling post (just joking). Now, to conclude: I imagine that when you read Romeo&Juliet you do not say that it captures all the complexity of love: it's pain and it's beauty in one single drama. No, you'd probably say it is just a book. You are even ready to admit that it is a good book - nice sentences by Willam S. But all the reflections and feelings captured by this story are just crap in our heads.

  • @zmor68 You're missing the point entirely. Shakespeare was a poet/playwright. He wrote words, people read them and understand what he means because they speak his language. That way he could try to capture the complexity of life, its pain and its beauty and share his thoughts with others. Sakamoto on the other hand doesn't use words. His music might express a certain feeling but it's not specific. So you could TRY to find a meaning in it, but it would be different with every person: intheirheads

  • @rrlloo1 Fair enough! Just a farewell remark: there are important similarities between the literature and music. Both are forms of human culture. Obviously, music is more then just a stream of random sounds. It is thoughtfully ordered so we can understand it (or not). It is like a kind of language. Just like in a good book.... Anyway, have a good life, @rrlloo1. Not much complexity and no pain at all. Cheers.

  • @zmor68 Why a farewell remark? How nice, though. I love you too.

  • ryuichi sakamoto! wow

  • Gosh, this is so gorgeous. Ryuichi Sakamoto produces the most unique music ever. Beautifully beautiful.

  • damn this is beautiful

  • I feel so lonely when I hear this song... :[[

  • thats okay :'-) the first time I heard this song (the movie babel) i've had to let go some tears, so....

  • Simple things are the toughest to achieve...Adore it!

  • Thanks

  • I've been trying to find this song just like it is here, without the violin and cello, anyone know where I can find that?

  • Maybe on the release of the 3rd of March - there will be another piano only album from Sakamoto san - so let's hope it will be included there!

  • Googling... Did you mean "Out of Noise"? Sadly it doesn't seem to be on it.. Ah well..

  • His work is astoundingly brilliant.

  • The essence of the heart! Beautiful, I love it.

  • beyond beauty

  • fuc, if i played it, i'll be exploding with an orgasm of epiphany at the wisedom this melody leads me to....think about it when you listen, think about the world, think of your existence. music guides, our minds have to think though

  • what makes him different from other musicians?

I think it's emotions that he puts while he's composing and performing his music.

  • where I can get the notes of this piece ?

  • Very good music

    Very well made movie.

    Such talent

    Nice work!

  • somehow this music makes me feel like im having a beautiful dream which never ends, uhm anyway just genius :)

  • bu ne sünepe müzik böle yaw:)

  • To all Sakamoto Fans 2008

    Genial,

    Marc, Germany

  • amaizing melody for amaizing movie. "Babel" by Alejandro González Iñárritu strongly recommended to watch.

  • Hey man... this music is WAY older than the movie Babel.

  • 1:12 just give me chills. dam i wish i could play like that

  • does anyone know where i can get the sheet music for this song?

    thanks!

  • Increíble... Sencillamente maravilloso...

  • Ascolta questa canzone: "Forbidden Colors" by Ryuichi Sakamoto & David Sylvian. ;)

  • This is SOOOO gorgeous. So incredible. I like the variation on the original.

  • grazie grazie..........

  • men are violent but deep inside them have heart that feels or something like that.

  • usually there is men who are violent and then men who feel deep inside, but there is a lot of men who are both

  • where can i find this version? I've heard a bunch from a variety of his albums but none of them was a solo...
