Ladies, always listen to a woman like this one who has HAIR ON HER head. Her tips work extremely well and now my hair is halfway down my back. Yes, you must moisturize every week, keep your ends free of flyaways and snags and gently wash the hair like she says. It works:)

Yeah I like lose curls, I love my tight ringlet curls but sometimes I want bigger looser ones. Straight hair makes me look like a scary chick sometimes. I just go all over though.
But curls give the effect of a fat face, as i naturally have an oval face but very big cheecks, i tend to be called having a round face and well.....hair like hers just makes me even look fatter than before.

LIz, your hair is really dry, I can see it in this video. I have curly long hair too and it USED to be Dry. BUT I switched to organic hair products and now I can seriously say that my hair isn't dry. I don't use any leave in conditioners, no masks, not unnecessary toxic chemicals to artificially "nourish" my hair. I use an organic shampoo, conditioner and a medium hold, yes, medium hold organic gel. That is all I use and my hair is Great! Check out my channel and see for yourself.

Aamazingly I went to the salon and they did a similar look on my curly hair and they said "wow, magazine cover!" but my hair did not look any less crazy than in this video. So, I know curling irons are out in the hairdressers' world because they create "peasant like tight curls" but I am pleased to see other consider too loose and crazy hair to be just this - loose and crazy. Even in couture fashion shows hair looks more arranged than this.

The kid based products. i admit that i turn the Sofn' free n' pretty cucumber conditioner into a leave-in. i recently started using Sofn' free n' pretty tee tree oil hairdressing on my scalp and hair. yes its a little greasy but curly hair needs the moisture. To my surprise baby shampoo is by far the best shampoo for me (comforts baby wash which i bought at target). i have bad flaking and super dry scalp. that combination there was no flaking as long as i kept the hairdressing on my scalp.
As a child and even now i have issue with my curly hair. It is super fine in addition the curls get so tight a 2 foot strand can curl to be 6 inches. As a child my mom relaxed my hair so she didnt have a hard time keeping it neat. i kept it relaxed until i hit college and wanted to go completely natural to not have the chemicals slowly destroy my hair. i just started using products i use on my sons hair.

If your hair is very curly and you want to have long, big waves, you have to straighten it then either do one of both of the following, big rollers and a curling iron.
yep, i agree 100%. those aren't big curls. they're 'big waves' and it doesn't really look that nice in my opinion. small waves look good, big waves leave room for frizz.

I'm 100% african american, with kinky, coarse, poofy hair. I highly recommend that you make just a few changes to her routine. Use an old cotton shirt to blot dry her hair, and if you want to define her curls and loose the frizziness, I use the sun silk line for curls, just the gel/cream or the milk, not the entire shampoo and nine yards, but it could end up in much better results. Also, look up the bantu knot, or try to pin curl her hair.
When using the sun silk curling products with a heat-less method of curling, you're not only retaining moisture, but you're helping to natural define and set her curls. Now, I strongly believe this should work, since I'm positive her curls are much more defined naturally than mine. As for straitening, I recommend you look up a wet set, it's both effective, on ALL black/kinkypoofy/ frizzy hair types if done properly and its none damaging and nourishing when done right. I hope this helps.
Perm her hair with a perm for children. Protect her scalp by putting vaseline on it before you perm, and deep condition her whole head after the perm. Keep her hair moisturized inbetween perms. And when you perm it again only perm the root (or hair near the scalp). If you have questions- feel free to write to me. Her hair isn't unmanageable, but you have to take a different approach to it.

What I do with my frizzz is that I wash my hair (condition AFTER shampoo) dry it, NO BLOWDRY....it just makes things a hell of alot worse, I just dry it by wraping a "towel-hat" on my head, and leave it for awhile, then I take it off and pput a SMALL amount of conditioner BACK in my hair. Brush, then style, then hairspray. All better :] Let me know how it works.
what kind of styling product do you use to keep it from getting wild??...because my sister did his hairstyle for me on my birthday and by the end of the night, my hair was super frizzy =[
i use this stuff called elasta qp and its like a sort of gel, that seems to keep it quite nice...also if you add a bits of hair spray and glossing gel its works quite well!! :)

A bit annoying how she didn't go into much detail. After taking a close look, she took small sections and blow dried it straight using a bristle brush with no product. This gives it the "poofy" effect. From there, she set the curls using the hot rollers. Since her hair is thick and with a natural curl, the texture keeps the curl. Since her hair texture is like mine (except hers is a bit thicker than mine), I do the same thing but use a curling iron. The curls last for days.

I'm 100% african american, with kinky, coarse, poofy hair. I highly recommend that you make just a few changes to her routine. Use an old cotton shirt to blot dry her hair, and if you want to define her curls and loose the frizziness, I use the sun silk line for curls, just the gel/cream or the milk, not the entire shampoo and nine yards, but it could end up in much better results. Also, look up the bantu knot, or try to pin curl her hair.

When using the sun silk curling products with a heat-less method of curling, you're not only retaining moisture, but you're helping to natural define and set her curls. Now, I strongly believe this should work, since I'm positive her curls are much more defined naturally than mine. As for straitening, I recommend you look up a wet set, it's both effective, on ALL black/kinkypoofy/ frizzy hair types if done properly and its none damaging and nourishing when done right. Perm her hair with a perm for children. Protect her scalp by putting vaseline on it before you perm, and deep condition her whole head after the perm. Keep her hair moisturized inbetween perms. And when you perm it again only perm the root (or hair near the scalp). If you have questions- feel free to write to me. Her hair isn't unmanageable, but you have to take a different approach to it.

What I do with my frizzz is that I wash my hair (condition AFTER shampoo) dry it, NO BLOWDRY....it just makes things a hell of alot worse, I just dry it by wraping a "towel-hat" on my head, and leave it for awhile, then I take it off and pput a SMALL amount of conditioner BACK in my hair. Brush, then style, then hairspray. All better :] Let me know how it works.

i use this stuff called elasta qp and its like a sort of gel, that seems to keep it quite nice...also if you add a bits of hair spray and glossing gel its works quite well!! :)

What also sucks is having to spritz my hair all the time to re set the curls; especially if you hate using mousse and gel like I do.
Although I hear Suave has a non crunchy mousse for curls now. It's getting rave reviews on makeupalley.

at least with wavy hair it is quite easy to style, you have a lot more options...i just wish i could wear my hair down without it frizzing out, i have to use soooo many products to get it to stay in place and look shiny!!!

everyone wants hair they don't have, I wanted straight hair but now I love my beautiful long curly hair ^^; I grew it out instead of constantly flat-ironing and blow drying my hair to death! You need to learn to love your hair because you were blessed with it. There is no such thing as ugly curly hair, all hair is beautiful you just need to know how to take care of it.

A bit annoying how she didn't go into much detail. After taking a close look, she took small sections and blow dried it straight using a bristle brush with no product. This gives it the "poofy" effect. From there, she set the curls using the hot rollers. Since her hair is thick and with a natural curl, the texture keeps the curl. Since her hair texture is like mine (except hers is a bit thicker than mine), I do the same thing but use a curling iron. The curls last for days.
