@LeshaAnn I wasn't referring to this song--if you read tigerjonn's original comment you'll see that he's opining that his favourite song, Mama Roux, is hard to get hold of. Just trying to help by telling him which album it was on.
The old Almonaster junkyard was pretty well established by the mid '70s. Kids used to drag race out there because it was so far out on the fringes of town. I'm thinking this was around 1970. Makes me feel OLD. But in a good way. I miss '70s New Orleans.
say no more ... knowing the song, seen this vides the first time ... kicked me right from my chair ... with the weeping guitar of mr eric c. in the back
Great video!! I live in Washington Heights, not the most fab local in NYC, and the other day, I ran into my neighbor...The Night Tripper!!! He was so cool, living in some regular apartment on a regular street. He saw my daughter and asked, "Is that your sprout?" I was truly in awe.
Ha! Great video! Regarding the comment below on Van Morrison. Thats very interesting, I'd never considered that before and it's very true. He hinted at it with Astral Weeks I suppose, but it dropped off with Moondance. The photo shoot with him and then wife Janet Planet for the Tupelo Honey album out in the woods and on the horse was a good look, he should of gone picking shrooms while he was out there!

Van always looked as though he was on the edge & needed a lysergic push into psych. With Astral Weeks sound, songs like 'And it Stoned Me', themes surrounding mysticism & album covers like Hard Nose the Highway (same artist did Herbie Hancocks 'Sextant') he was close. I suppose not going there he retained an individuality that made him the unique genre bending artist he was. Few can cross showband, soul, blues, rock, folk & psych elements into the 1 sound & his long & varied career is testament.
i think he's more like a face monkey blah blah, with album nyoose and swenton blam biop. don't you agree? and of course, one mustn't neglect to mention the vyooom nhgumyou and blonb-ba-mah. or am i being too academic?
The Dr. said, "Where ya at mule". The Dr. aka Mac Rebennack sings this on his Sun,Moon, Herbs cd. He has become a New Orleans institution. His voice sounds like he gargles in 100 proof bourbon. Besides having a unique voice, he is an excellent pianist.
oh yeah, what a fantastic music video... what a great trip
