You can actually download putty from putty.com it goes to that link anyway it's just a shortcut.

Hey Dazal, Have another go...if you follow these steps to a T, it will work. I guess you're using Windows, PuTTY and are connecting to Linux? Maybe you have some windows service turned off that you need, is another possibility, though an unlikely one, generally.
