  • I'm only 16 at the time, but when I can I am definitely getting one of these beautiful pieces of history.

  • Nice piece of military history there, and very cheap as well. Will you make a video shooting it?

  • I should add that the comment about the CMP obtaining rifles part of the lend Lease Applies to rifles such as the Garand, 1917 Enfield, 1903 Springfield and the M1 Carbine.

The CMP does sell modern fireams in the .22 cal range. In the past the CMP has also offered 5.56 AR15 rifles that were made by Bushmaster. They also sell .22 target rifles made by various manufactures.

  • I have a number of Garands - Outstanding Rifle!! Have to correct you on something, though - the CMP WILL NOT be getting any of the Garands from Korea to sell through their program. The Koreans plan on selling them to (a) weapons importer. The CMP does not import firearms. They only sell firearms that are transfered to them from the U.S. Government Arsenal.

  • welcome to Appleseed Doc! We always need more Orange Hats! :)

  • Great video except for the Obama bashing. He has not proposed nor passed 1 single gun law since he has been president. Don't buy into the NRA propaganda, it actually does more harm then good by dividing left and right leaning gun owners.

    Anyway, great video ! =)

  • @tr2899 Facts: Obama is the most anti-gun president in Am history according to Gun Owners of American. It is absolutely true. FYI presidents don't pass laws. However, they try to ILLEGALLY & UNCONSTITUTIONALLY with executive orders. Obama has passed executive orders attacking gun rights inclu illegal requirements on dealers. Also Fast & Furious. His supporters are anti-gun & he supports the UN gun ban. Wake up! Obama is Hell for gun owners! He is a puppet for the bankers who want slaves!

  • @thenewsurvivalist Fast a Furious was a total disaster, like most things our government does. How ever, i ask you to find 1 single gun law or executive order pertaining to gun laws that Obama has proposed or signed. I have asked many who make the claim that Obama is the most anti gun president in American history... I have yet to hear back from any of them.

  • @tr2899 F&F was traced all the way back to the Obama admin. He knew about it all along & supported it. (Bush before him was also involved in similar plans.) Obama is OPENLY AGAINST THE 2nd AMENDMENT. He has SAID SO in his speeches. Of course he has lied & lied & lied, but that is the one thing you can believe. He said he supports the UN small arms ban, which aims to BAN ALL SMALL ARMS IN THE US. I can go on and on. Anyone who doesn't know his stance on guns has been living in a cave.GOA

  • @tr2899 Remember the Korean War? We set the PRSK up with lots of M-1 Garands back in the early 1950's South Korea wanted to sell them back to us. Obama stopped this transaction from taking place. m-rifles/

  • @thenewsurvivalist I live in California. The Most gun suppressive state filled with shit eating iberals who Cannot tell their own head from their ass to think with. I really like your vid and plan on getting one. Especially that gorgeous case it comes with. I also want to get that box of ammo you have as well, I plan on paying a thousand for a mint condition rifle.

  • The CMP also operates two stores. The first store is at Camp Perry in Port Clinton Ohio and the second store is located in Anniston Alabama. At both of the stores you can sort through racks of M1 Garands and take one home with you.

Your visit will have memories that last a life time.

  • Damn, I want it! :-)

  • This is a great video, great job!

  • Damn, wish i would've seen this before i blew $600 on my 4595 highpoint carbine :(

  • My uncle is old marine. he has purchased about 6 of these over the last year from C.M.P. i love shooting these vintage weapons and just holding one in my hand i feel the history of the men who used them to fight for a real cause. love the videos you produce. they inspire me to be prepared. Your one awesome old man. keep the faith.

  • man i had a lee enfild ww2 surplus rifle i got it for 60$ i cit it down to 16 1/4 " and put it on a lathe and took a looot of weight off the berrel i could be efective all the way out to 350 yards but now i have a prob when i was younger i used a lot of drugs and was instatuanalized 5150 and now no longer can have fire arms i beleve i have been clean for 5 rears i would like to get a new rifle do u have any ideas i would like to do it leaglaly =3-

  • @xoxoXoieoxox You can legally buy a firearm from a private individual. Firearms do not have to be registered in this country. Dealers do have to do a background check. Private individuals don't have to do a background check but can simply sell to another individual. Gun grabbers call this the "gun show loophole." In reality it's called freedom. Go to a gun show and look not for dealers but individuals (without tables) who are selling their firearms. It is legal! It is liberty!

  • @thenewsurvivalist OMG realy and u dont think i can get in trouble just 4 having it i want a rifle so bad =3-

  • @xoxoXoieoxox If you are under a court order that says that you are not allowed to possess a firearm then you might get into trouble for having one. What I am saying is that if you are simply on the FBI or DHS's unconstitutional "No buy" list then that means that dealers, who have to do a background check, can not legally sell to you but private individuals can. A "no buy" list is not the same as a "can't possess" order. Check with a pro-2nd amendment lawyer.

  • @thenewsurvivalist humm u have given mea lot to think a bout (all good) maybe i can "posees one" ill have to find out my statis TY theres hope yet!!!! =3-

  • "the best battle impliment ever designed" -gen. Goerge S. Patton

  • You are a very lucky man what a beautiful grand gun

  • I have one of these Doc do you mind if I post a video response on the one I got. I live near cmp and had the chance to go to cmp and hand pick mine a few years back

  • @gunguru2012 Please do. Looking forward to seeing it.

  • @thenewsurvivalist Response video sent awaiting your approval sir

  • OH MY GOSH!!! YOU LOADED A WEAPON ON YOUTUBE!!!! Just kidding DOC, Thanks for the post Sir.

  • survival doc im not trying to correct u but give u a heads up its called m1 thumb, can this rifle be shipped to your house or does it have to be a ffl? i would love to pick one up one day to add to my collection.i always thought it would be awesome if the military would replace the m4/m16 and u could pick up a surplus one for around 500-800 dollars instead of paying over a thousand. btw thanks for all the great informing videos u put up!

  • @TheCrazywiteboy Yes, it is shipped right to your door by Federal Express overnight. (Shipped overnight but it takes 30-60 days typically to process your paperwork and order.)

  • You look very excited : ) Who wouldn't be? What kind of crazy fool wouldn't love an M1 Garand? Troops in Iraq & Afghanistan would love some of those around so they wouldn't get in dangerous situation with their pea shooters with some enemy weapons outdistancing their effective range by 100s of yards. Old doesn't mean inferior either. Love 8mm Mauser & K-31 & MAS 49 semi auto too, but M1 tosses 30.06 semi auto, beautiful. You have to pay through the nose new for similar quality of those old guns

  • No Appleseed events in Montana... Guess we all know how to shoot eh?

  • very nice! real men clear buildings w m1 garands!

  • Been watching the series 'Tales of the Gun'. Your video has great timing. :) That is a fine specimen. Don't know why but I have always loved reading/watching about the design and evolution of technology... tanks, cars, guns, planes., ect.

Great review, thank you for posting.

  • I <3 your beard

  • This is a great anti zombie weapon.

  • great rifle. had mine a few years now, best money I ever spent.

  • one of my own personal favs doc you will love that thing soon

  • Great video and beautiful rifle, I only wish Canada has some of the same perks as the U.S. Sometimes I feel like I was born in the wrong country. Thanks for showing us your new gun.

  • @MrMajunix A God given right a perk? You have them too... The only difference is the only rights you will keep are the ones you will fight and die for.

  • doc you said a good deer hunting round id go as far as saying with the right bullets in that rifle it would be great for any animal or mamial in north or south america

  • Thanks for the info. I think I will go take one of these courses. You can't beat the price!

  • man the CMP is a cool program from i just read! to bad congress doesnt focus on things like that anymore....

  • Beautiful Beautiful Rifle. If shit does indeed hit the fan, you have a weapon that will beat

    most of todays modern rifles

  • I dont think I'd feel outgunned in a Revolution or SHTF if I was rockin' a Garand and others had AK or ARs.

  • blkwulff got told...but there is something to be said for both rifles.

  • Very cool! you should show the process your gonna go through to re finish the stock.

  • That's what I'm talking about, M1 Garand!! Beautiful rifle.

  • after ww2 my grandfather could have bought several of these for $10 a piece

  • @dustinshawnbailey cause he is one of the ones who want to take our guns in the end, so we got nothing to protect our self's with

  • these guns are nice but way overpriced there is an almost endless supply of them

  • @cbr6864 over priced try to get a field grade rifle for less money then what these are being sold at, and if you do find one let the rest of us know were to get them

  • just sent off for my mail order catalog, thanks for the info i never heard of the CMP.

  • Good luck with you new rifle. When I was in Viet Nam I didn't see any US troops with the M-1. However all the ARVN troops were carrying the M-1 or the M-1 carbine.

  • "Get off my lawn!" I thought I heard the CMP got shut down, glad to see it is still going. It would be nice to have a Garand to go with my bolt action 30-06, always nice to have two rifles that can share ammo.

  • It was actually created in 1903 as part of the War Department Appropriations Act. It was administered by the Army until 1996. It's original intent was to promote marksmanship in case citizens were called to serve in the Army later on. Through the years, the focus turned to youth. Which is a fabulous idea. I think every US Citizen should learn how to shoot in case we are ever invaded. Thanks for bringing attention to the CMP! It's a very important part of our heritage.

  • @bigdogbuc I got that information right off the CMP web site, although I don't doubt what you say. Apparently they considered the 1903 program to be a different program. The federal law that established the current CMP was passed in 1996.

  • @thenewsurvivalist

Congress passed the law creating the CMP which is not run by Orest Michales out of Camp Perry Ohio and Anniston Alabama where all the rifles ship from. The responsibility was transfered from the Army Department to the CMP based on the change by congress.

  • @thenewsurvivalist I got it off the website too. ( = Wanted to verify the dates before I spoke. Perhaps with the enactment of the bill in 1996, they consider it "two different programs". Regardless, nice looking rifle and I love your videos! Keep 'em coming Doc. Which reminds me, I need an adjustment...

  • Why buy something out of date you can comPare this to ar15 like muzzle vs lever action

  • @blkwulff I guess if you can only have 1 rifle then the AR15 is 1 option. I have 4 rifles. There are many reasons to own an M1 Garand. If I have to explain it to you then you probably wouldn't understand anyway, so I won't waste my time except to ask: Can you kill a deer at 500+ yards with your small caliber rifle? I didn't think so. Your rifle is for close combat. The M1 is a full size battle rifle. Don't use a screwdriver to do the job of a hammer. The proper tool for the proper job.

  • @blkwulff FAIL. Go back to playin Call of Duty junior.

  • @blkwulff Try shooting anyone behind any type of cover with your 55 grain AR load and you are going to wish you had a real gun. Forgot stopping a vehicle by shooting the block with an AR, it probably won't make it through the fender.
