The arguement for not banning handguns is that handguns will inevitably get into the hands of criminals anyways, this is unavoidable, so what you can do for the citizenry is allow them to arm themselves to protect themselves. And to do that they need to be able to match the weaponry of the criminals...and the government. The second most important part is the "in case of revolution" idea,m being as armed as our government is a step to prevent them from dominating us with totalitarian force.

It shows again that the greed to curb is the executives, and not the corporations per se. They are screwing the people AND the stockholders. By controlling these aspects they have a perverse incentive. We need to have a check-and-balance. For example, a quasi-government, or private group that consults with the stockholders about salaries.
