  • Not trying to hate, it was a good race. But...had the passenger swapped cars and got into the gt for a second race, i guarantee the mach would pull ahead. Not playing favorites, just saying how it would go.

  • lol yall are dumb, gears and intake and exhaust can be a drivers race with a mach 1. Gears is what did it in this video. No cam was needed.

  • The 4.10 gears explain it. Great for launches, on the top end they are weak though. That's why you'll notice right before the video cuts off the Mach 1 starts pulling on it. Mach 1 has 60HP more, and lower gears.

  • nice run. i dont care what people say you out powered that 4valve. you pulled on him and he couldnt catch up both nice cars tho. for the money a 2 valve pi car is nice. friend had a sonic blue 04 with patriot heads and cams,intake full bolt ons,4.10s drag radials 5speed and ran 12.40s all day!

  • wow driver mod back when i was 12!!! i would have killed both of these fools both of yall spun out 1st and 2nd and short shifted to 3. i dont see how this is a race. no traction , bad drivers with a ton of mods .... yeah mods make the car fast but the driver makes the car faster its all about skills not everyone has em but u can start workin on em

  • tru enough the mach is faster and a over all better build then the gt,but with a lil work they can definatly hang with the mach..ive seen a few stock machs hit low thirteens and 12 90s so thats not bullshit there.there has never been a stock gt even hit low thirteens from what ive seen.anyways i have a full bolt on camed gt and will and have eaten the shit outa a stock mach 1..minor bolt on machs are a better run but still have pulled a few of those aswell..

  • @slow2v04 had both cars. 03 mach i had had 4.10 gear, h-pipe, flowmaster cat back bfg drag radials and took off front sway bar links for weight transfer. 1.78 60ft and 12.7 at 107. she was a fun one. divorce sucks.lol. just got me a nice one owner 04 gt. full bolt ons with gear and tires and sway bar link taken off to. 1.8 60 ft and a nice 13.2 to 3. not the fastest but yet fun and good sounding. Mach is my all time fav but this gt is fun as hell.

  • @slow2v04 track condiitons mean everything to. those are prime days. if more people ake them links off they would be shocked how much more of a 60ft they can get with gear and tires. not many people do that. on my 8th stang and do it to all of them

  • Mach 1s are extremely overrated. 90% of people who own them think they are faster than gt's just because they say "mach 1" I have a gt with cai, o/r x pipe, tune, and gears and it is way faster than stock mach 1s. Just cause its a 4v doesnt mean its better. The 2v's are really mean if you just do some very minor mods to them

    No, stock Mach 1s have been in the 12s. If the Mach and GT is a driver's race, then so is anything. The Mach is hands down the much stronger car, stock for stock or mod for mod.  There's really no comparison...

  • @snakestang100 I have a 4V swapped GT.  I don't have to believe anything, I've been there and done that...both engines in the same car. Went from 289 rwhp with a VT 2 cammed Bullitt intake'd full bolt on 2V to a stock cam 4V making 354 rwhp. There is no comparison whatsoever between the two.

  • @snakestang100 Hardly overrated, bolt-on Mach 1s - 330+ whp, bolt-on GTs, 260 rwhp. That bad part is the Mach 1 makes more everywhere, not just up top.

    With the same mods, Mach 1s are usually ET 1 full second quicker than GTs.

    Tons of stock cam bolt-on Machs running LOW 11s, I don't know of ANY stock cam GTs in the 11s period.

  • I don't see why people keep blaming the Mach 1 driver for this loss when he had an extra person with him (that by itself probably adds .2 secs on a 1/4 mile) and the GT is lightly modded (even tho 4.10s do make a huge difference). Give that GT stock gears and it would've been a whole different outcome.

  • ive had a GT.. i have a mach.. stock vs stock theres no comparison.. as for this vid a gt with his mods vs a bad driver mach and this is what ya get.. !! dont get it why people, even after they see the video, still question it and even doubt it... this is what happens when ya plug a bad driver into any equation when it comes to racing.. :)

  • @Rumplemenz haha. I run 12.7's in a stock 04'SVT just with DR's..so u assuming "I'm a bad driver" is quite frankly ignorant...b/c I was the driver in the Mach1. But it's not my car 1st of all...and we did the race with 2 dif drivers one being the owner & myself this race was the closest outcome. Also the driver (mach1) had missed 3rd one or two times & had said to me "I think something's wrong with my 3rd gear" so I made sure not to rip 3rd. 2ndly were

Last but not least the GT runs 13.4-13.6@104-106mph, while a Mach 1s best mag test I saw was 13.2@106.7 but norm is wait a min...13.4s@106! wait isn't that about the same? now add a Mach1 having

Oh & the staw the broke the camel's back here is the GT has 4.10 gears only inching ahead of us when he was about at the top of his 4th gear or in lame man's terms...past the 1/4 mile! ;-)

Hahahaha There is a 50 WHP difference between the 2 cars, and yes that is a pretty large difference. The only thing a GT needs to keep up with a stock Mach 1 actually is a SCT tuner. If you didn't know a Mach 1 is heavier. Ya a dohc 281 might be alot more expandable when you start to heavily modify but when there next to stock theres really not much of a difference. Once again too bad theres people like you.

  • I think it all depends on the driver. A few weeks back I smoke a mach 1 in my 04 GT. we raced twice and I got him. he was getting closer in third gear but that was it.

  • My mach with full exhaust and 4.30s with mostly all the boltons throttle 12lbs fly stg 2 clutch and upper/low control and a sct tune i run 12.5s at 113 on DR never seen a bolt on GT do that

I have an 03 GT, just with SLP cat back. my dad has an 03 Mach 1 and I couldnt touch him, I added a K&N FIPK cai, tune, 4.10s, o.r prochamber and ill add a 70mm tb and plenum soon. Hopefully Ill be able to beat him now

  • u can tell that the GT had at the very least some head work done to it by the way the air is able to flow from that 2valve motor so quickly...a gt with a full exhaust doesnt sound like that i would know i own 2 of them and a cobra

  • I'm the driver of the march 1 (not owner) I have known the driver of the GT for years, & been there through all his upgrades. The GT has a intake, thottle body, plenum, pullies, chip, & tune for Hp. But we found out later that the idiot that dyno tuned it after the chip majorly screwed his tune up. He went from 13.4-13.6 before the chip & tune to 14.0-14.3 after chip & tune..lol. It Also it has 295's, short shifter, & my unles old 4.10's :-) No head work ;-)

  • beat. I've seen hundereds of stangs run down the track with seasoned drivers. Never have I seen one stock run anything under 13.4 always 13.6-14.1. Is it possible for someone to get shot in the head a live..hey..it's happend. But then again there's proof 4 that. I'd love to see a stock stang run that time though! i'd make Mustang owners like myself smile! :-) till then I'm still waiting 4 that time.

  • I've ran a 13.52 in my 2004 GT with nothing more than a set of DR's. This was in the middle of summer at Atlanta Dragway. Best time I've ran completely stock was a 14 flat. Now I don't know how that compares to what the magazines tested them at but I hardly see any other drivers posting those kind of times where I live.

  • Unfortunately, good ol' Maxwell is mistaken about what a Mach 1 typically runs in the 1/4 mile. A 13 flat is possible, but highly unlikely and could only be done on drag radials with a great driver. Your average Mach 1 piloted by an average driver runs mid 13's on 245 street tires. That was a pretty quick GT, I would be interested to know all of the mods done to that car. Oh and by the way, I know all of this shit about Mach's because I own one (soon to be built on a 150 shot!)

  • Good'ol Maxwell was referring to a stock to the ties mach 1. Is it possible to run 13.0 in a stock Mach. I've heard of it. Never seen proof though. But possibility is more like along the lines of a factory freak. Here's a posting from MT 2003 Ford Mustang Mach 1 (5 Speed) 4.7 13.2 (MT Feb '05) They r pofesional 140lb drivers hired to run the fastest times by the the company. When the weather is at it's best, at tracks below sea level. Those times unless other factors r in play aren't going to be

  • 03CENTGT, the '01 Cobra and '03-'04 Mach 1's do not have identical engines. The Mach 1 engines benefited from better flowing cylinder heads, higher compression, and a different cam profile, producing considerably more power on a dyno in the REAL WORLD! Not by factory ratings. That being said, I would wager that the GT in this video is at least a full bolt-on car racing a "bone stock" as quoted from MaxwellReviresco.

  • I agree..I was the driver. I'm really good at racing & all. That's why out of the several races between these 2 cars I was the closest, but I've never drivin his car b4. I had a chane to do a launch or to. But I didn't want to throw a synchro, or mess up his 3rd gear over just havin fun. I power shifted 2nd, & 4th though :-) If it was my ride I'd obviously disregard worrying about doing anything to my boys car.

  • I agree with MaxwellReviresco. Weight makes a major diffrence in a drag race. I have a 03'GT with a couple bolt-ons and have beaten 01'SVT Cobras which have the same engine as the Mach 1's do with 2 passengers and me being solo in my car. Once at the dragstrip though its all about reaction time!

    p.s..Every 100lbs in a drag race = a tenth of a second in a 1/4 loss, which in simple terms is roughly a car length. So that said Myself 206lbs+230lb driver -170lb driver in the 01 = about 260 lbs. weight difference or about 2.5 car lengths ;-) sit on that & watch the other videos where he's got a passenger.
