My mom sad I was moving back in forth in the car, while my dad was trying to find a hotel we had to go to because we didn't have air conditioner. I just turned 1 on June 1st. I was still a baby lol
July 13-14, 1995....oh yeah. The Heat Wave that left a dark note on Chicago. Even for Ohio, we were up at 104-105F those two days. It has not reached that high since, but came close a couple of times in 2007.
I do remember the impressive hot weather on SAT 7/15/95....NYC was 87 degrees 5am..and Danbury CT hit CT's new record-high temp for the state...106 ~~! BTW..that very same morning...severe derecho-Tstorms raced across upstate NY..into MA, northern CT and RI..with 70--105 mph wind gusts and tremendous lightning. The next day...7/16/95..Newark DE had also tremendous lightning at 3am with nonstop thunder and 70mph winds......((I got a nice copied video of IT>>!!!)
Yiehss....you're so 100%-ly right about the ''derechos''...BTW..I made a posting of the such derechos ....check out my posting...you might find it really cool to read...since I have an excellent memory for dates of wild weather-events.
I found some surprising news and that is that 2008 is similar to 1995. This means expect heat waves, but most especially substantial snowfall at the winter of 08-09. :)

I remember how hot it was that day and how hot that summer was! If I am not mistaken, the high in NYC was 102 that day!

Oh wow it hasn't hit 100 in Pittsburgh since 1994 or 1995 and lets not have it come back!

That was the time of that deadly heat wave in Chicago that killed 800 people.

Interesting to see the original D flavor this far into '95. That was the first flavor to get changed in my area, even without a local update.
