Here's a little trick, right before the first stage boss appears, keep to the center, move to the top, and keep firing. You'll kill the boss the instantly.

Or just run the shield into the boss and kill it instantly.  But what fun would that be.

I love this game but it was always the music that really set it apart for me. The levels in the video probably have the best gaming music I've ever heard. I wonder what Serge Shishkin's up to these days.
