  • i love doing a form this way, clean and defined movements

  • This is the Showhun (sp) form, I went to China for a month and this is the form I first learnt. This fighter does it with amazing speed and energy.

  • Such speed

  • Guys, plzz.... Stop saying this art can defeat that art, that art is nothing compared to this art. All Martial arts, the principle and basics and ethics remain the same. MMA too is a good fighting art that has evolved, western boxing has its own prowess. I mean all Martial Arts are good in their own style and forms. Shaolin is more of a spiritual art. The movements that are practiced in Shaolin Forms are to vitalize and concentrate your body's energy.

  • @keerthibsp mma, western boxing, kickboxing, etc... = fighting sport

wushu, kung fu, karate, ninjutsu, etc... =martial art

    :) happy new year btw

  • idiot's. don't say stuff like kung fu is better then boxing. if you get your ass kicked from a boxer... you say it's not the martial art's fault. its you!

  • I love how people think that Wrestling is weaker than Kung Fu , the moment you underestimate your opponent its the moment you get your ass handed to you

Really , its not the martial arts , but the martial artist that makes the difference

I have practiced Greco roman Wrestling and boxing and i have fought with all kinds of Martial artist and to tell you the truth , i was able to pin a Kung Fu black belt but got my ass kicked by a guy who practiced kapoeira

In resume , deal with it

  • I wish i can make my form as powerful and crisp as his

  • I used to think MMA was better than Kung Fu, but after joining classes and watching my Shoalin Master demo some of his abilities, Kung Fu is hands down more comprehensive and effective than MMA. For all you MMA and wrestling fans... you can't win against a Kung Fu master who knows how to manipulate small joints and disable you with pressure points. These are not allowed in MMA, so MMA people can't defend against it. MMA is good for the common people, but can't compare wit the pros

  • @warriorbook you can't say it's martial art. you must say it's you. MMA can defeat kung fu to. it all depends of your skills.

  • the best video ive seen. no other video is better.

  • Comment removed

  • Nice clean and crisp form, I like it. They say that often others measure your skill and accuracy of your study by your competency of this form.

  • wow....a clean video of a monk doing a form. no music, no disco crap...just a clean video...where you can actually hear and see EVERYTHING...

    thank you!

    favorited.

  • respect but try to fight an mma artist .after the clinch . ....

  • @JosiahWarren the forms aren't for fighting, they are for balance, strength and coordination as well as getting the body used to the movements of fighting, for real fighting alot of them practice sanshou, which is used in ufc by fighters such as Cung Le

  • @JosiahWarren MMA fighters are good fighters, i can respect that, but you need to remember the word RULES. In mma there are rules and outside, there are none. In kung fu, there are styles that concentrate on striking places like the groin, eyes, neck, ears, and other vital points. This of course is not allowed in ufc because they dont want people to die or suffer even more dangerous injuries. comparing mma to this just doesnt work.

  • This is awesome!

  • WahrerDrache; yes it really is odd how robotic they make the forms look these days ! considering they were originally based around natural human movement & the natural movement of animals. i have not found 1 actual shaolin form to date on Utube....... but you might start or be thinking theres actually a reason for that !!! shao hong quan means flood or wave fist, can any1 see anything that resembles a flood or a wave fist in any of the modern versions ? 15 years later i still havent found 1

  • @fugoung1 You don't know what you're talking about. THis is little red fist not flood fist. And youtube only has a small fraction of all the forms in traditional shoalin. Go to China or learn some martial arts and stop thinking you know what your talking about from watching youtube videos and Donnie yen videos.

  • actually i agree this is without a doubt one of finest versions of Xiao Hong Quan ive ever seen on U-tube...... but for sm reason its still missing 1/2 of the form & 1/2 of the actuall aplications of the form

  • @fugoung1

Agree would love to see him doing this with not such much power but more expressions of the meanings of the form.

  • @WahrerDrache I thought this power was amazing. It shows his extreme athleticism and strength. I do some of those moves in Kung Fu class, and nobody can do it nearly as fast and as smooth as him.

  • @MrQbanD after everyday fer a few hours then yeAH

  • pitty its the wushu version & not actual shaolin boxing

  • @fugoung1 Really? You obviously don't know what you're talking about. This is an excellent performance of a traditional Shaolin Boxing form, performed with skill, power, focus and intent. The versions of each form vary from master to master, but I can assure you that it is a pure, traditional Shaolin form practiced by the monks themselves.

  • @BLITZEINHEIT

  • @WahrerDrache

  • @WahrerDrache

  • @fugoung1 everything we have seen since the 1940's is waterd down wushu versions of the actual shaolin forms. inparticular they are missing 4 out of the 8 fundamentals of martial arts. ? tho what is every1s (these days) phisical comparison for what is and what isant shaolin..........

  • @MrQbanD As long as you learn it and forget it as my Sifu would say. By this he means the techniques have to become second nature, so you'd do them without realising. Whenever you practice forms never let yourself become prisoner to set movements though. Vary your training between forms and sparring / training drills your fellow students or willing volunteers.

  • @MrQbanD well, the Hong Quan movement have become your habit in every fight then yea. If you're able to apply it without having to remember then you've hit the jackpot.

  • I love, this powerful form...and all that are like this

  • Great and beautiful !

  • Looks nice. But every pugilist I have seen will end up doing kickboxing in a fight.

  • @lesterado watch a wing chun fight

  • @lesterado You saying those moves where to complexe for a fight? Looked pretty straight forward to me compared to many forms. No buts, this is kicking and boxing.

  • you can really see his power, his kicks and punches have much fa jing

  • esto es en el templo fawang!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i always hated this form, oh my god... i spent too much time on doing it!!! =)

  • @donismail I am still doin it but i really share your mind^^ it is a very beautiful form to watch but just when another person shows^^ it really hurts after 10 times

  • When I practice this form, its about half his speed. Moving at this speed I wind up incredibly fatigued. His form is very similar to the Shi De Yang version, but there are more precise movements, and a few very useful techniques have been added or augmented.

  • thanks for posting!

  • Is shaolin Kung Fu effective for self defence?

  • If your master teaches you something more than tao lu, yes, it is.

But you need to know the applications.

  • if you use it correctly, all martial arts are effective.

  • depends, you have many schools when they only teach you these sorts of "fake"fighting( illusionary imponents)

but for self defence you have to search for a full contact school. when using full contact it's really effective but also the non contact version of kung fu gives you a higher knowledge of your own body

sorry for my bad english :D

  • wow this is insane. Superior speed, power, technique, real Shaolin training preps you for whatever that may come your way (at least in a hand-to-hand fight)

  • how is this usefull when in a street brawl?

  • Makes you agile, makes it easy to run

  • easy to run and agile

    that aint useful

i mean when i wanna fight back

but when is the right time?

  • Hey, if you're lookin' for fights, martial arts is not for you. Unless they have a gun, running and avoiding trouble is always the best option. Can't deal with not gettin' your little revenge? The world's not fair, but you gotta be the bigger man...

  • dude dont act smart......i need to know when is the right time to use kung fu....besides what is the use of when he bends down at 0:034

  • You don't need KF in life seriously, it's not for fighting, it's art with a fighting quality. maybe it used to be for fighting, but now we're more civilized. It's not up to me to decide when you use KF, maybe use stances to catch yourself when you trip on sidewalks. you'll know when you should use it-good KF comes out naturally.

If I'm not smart, you shouldn't ask me anything. Having studying KF, I can tell you 1 move = 1,000 applications. that maneuver at 34 sec. could be...

  • a. a low punch

    b. punch to the leg that blocks a kick

    c. ducking

    d. he's moving too fast in this one-watch another demo.; one arm punches down, other punches up = downward arm in front could grab instead of punch, drag enemy into the upward arm's uppercut.

    e. you decide~

    ...

    ...

    1,000 possiblities...

  • You can use most of the kick to open the doors. I mean when I carry a armfull of groceries into my house. After 8 years of Kung fu ( that more than half of my lifespan) I never used it once in a fight. Canada sucks.

  • WTF?!?!?!??!?!?!?!?!?!?!

  • veary lol

  • There are no one real way to practice Xiao Hong Quan or other forms in that case. Many forms are different but have the same name. So just because this form are named Xiao Hong Quan, You can not be sure it's your form.

  • I wish i could learn that form, the real xiao hong quan. The place I go to teaches a shortened version, not even half as long as this one. It also leaves out a lot of the cool moves too.

  • This is the way it should be done. Moderate speed and lots of power. Not fast and weak like those wushu guys. This form that he did looks a lot longer than the other xiao hong quans I have seen. Is this a different xiao hong quan?

  • Blllaapp! Blllaaap!

    That was straight up G!

  • Wow! hes moving so fast!

  • Xiao Hong Quan :) it's a nice, and a amezing form from Shaolin :) one of my farvorite forms

  • THATS MY FORM!!

  • Awesome, very fast, very powerful, very strong.

  • very fast

  • Overall very impressive, just lacks the chain-whip SNAP that is supposed to be at the tail of a right-angle double-punch (with rounded blocking arms after, BTW) and the open palm (which should also snap out and back, not really come to a such a sudden mechanical halt). I can't see much else I would touch, though.

  • It looks like y'all might actually be in front of Shaolin. Is that correct?

Mille fois bravo ! So great !! Mucho excelente !! Xiao hong quan shi hen hao ( Shaolin wushu rocks my life since i don't touch drugs. Can be a really good way to stop detroy my body and build a peacefull world !!! )!!! Xiexie ni ! Breathe in breathe out and enjoy life !!!

  • Okay, he's really really good... Tough hits and fast moves!!! Dios...

  • now that is sum nice xiao hong quan

  • very nice rendition of this famous shaolin wushu routine. you get 5 stars frpm masteringwushu . com

  • that is amazingly done!!!

  • awsome
