  • why are people so afraid to talk on their videos?

  • @King9419 on that day, it was cause i was really hungover and my mouth wouldn't work properly.

  • Haha a piece of ship? They are cheap that's true but they certainly aren't "ship". Have you ever owned one or just being bitter cause you spent 3 times the money on some other make?

  • @cladam81 quick question out of ten what would you give this rifle because every where i go ths gun chamberd in whatever has gotten great reviews (me personally i like 300 win mag) but what would you rate it?

  • @sabhacker101

i give it an 8, i actually prefer the way my rear hand fits the stock of a winchester 70 to these guns, but the weatherby functions perfectly otherwise

  • @cladam81 ok thx

    kyle

  • weatherby vanguard is a cheap piece of ship

  • @fredoabdoe Hahaha! You've apparently not had much experience with one.

  • nice rifle how much will it cost me. im looking foer one

  • Free floating barrel?

  • I just got me a 300 WBY mag for this hunting season. I drew a premier Wyoming tag and I'm not shooting unless it's going on my wall.

  • Im thinking of picking up one of these nice rifles. Just a quick question: Can you manually insert a round directly into the chamber?

  • @skidooshizel You should be able to. I used to have an old .22 rifle that I plinked with and you had to directly insert the round into the breach. I unfortunately dont have that gun anymore. It was fun but I wanted something with more kick so I sold it and bought a .22 mag Vaquero single action but its a bitch to reload. Makes a box of mags last longer though. I dont see any problem in directly loading the round into the breach but if you want to be sure ask the firearms retailer you choose.

  • @skidooshizel - yes mate you can feed rounds into the chamber.

  • Can you explain gun laws in australia for me please. I was under the impression the Oz had banned all private arms ownership.

  • @arizonaafield

sure mate, its a long winded response so ill pm it to you.

  • @arizonaafield if they did. id be moving to NZ the next week

  • Man, I should go hunting. I remember when I was little shooting my grandpa's metal bb gun and picking up shotgun shells at some park :]

  • is the action smooth?

  • Exelent..!!

  • I bought the .308 package with the scope mounted and the case. Nice deal. About $750 USD. Good gun. Too much kick for .308 cal. Should have bought a bull barrel or the Remington 700 bull barrel for a .308cal.

My favorite is my Rock River .223. OMG, that is swweet and I could shoot that all day. Check out some of my videos...

  • If you get a Weatherby Vanguard float the barrel before going to the range. The stocks are horrible and require a bit of work. But good quality guns.

  • how much did you pay for it? i want this exact rifle

  • @ibanezkid07

paid $900 australian for it, being that you are in the states you will pay much less , i was in wyoming a month ago and was totally blown away by how cheap your goods are over there ( and your gun laws make me so jealous also ).

  • @cladam81 yea im pretty thankful of our restrictions being very, very limited. but your dollar is probably worth a lot more than ours.

  • @ibanezkid07

our dollar is only worth about 90 cents US at the moment, cause your market is so much bigger (we only have about 20 million people in the whole country) pretty much everything is cheaper there. i went shopping in walmart for ammo in cheyenne and was blown away by how cheap everything else is, you guys can buy a large coleman cooler from there for like 50 bucks, we pay well over $200 for the same item. clothes are way cheaper also, i bought more clothes in a week than last 2 years

  • Did your gun come ready to mount a scope or did you have to get it drilled and tapped? Mine didn't come ready at all. I have to send it to a freakin gun smith to get it ready for a scope

  • @Outdoorsforum as did i, im 14 and that 1k i earned cuting grass goes into my vangaurd, but a good smith will have it done nice, and wont chip paint or scratch the metal so its worth it.

  • @Outdoorsforum

it came drilled and tapped, and the gunstore i bought it from offered to fit and bore sight it for me also ( i did it myself though ).

  • Just bought one of these ,cannot wait to fire it!

  • .243 are good for recoil sensitive people so no recoil will be fine.

  • My vanguard is a .243, and i get inch or better groupings at 350 yards. I love it because it doesn't have the recoil of a 30-06, or a .308. Granted it is a smaller round, but the accuracy makes up for it. Mine came with a OD green stock, with a 3x9x50 Pentax Gameseeker! Great rifle!

  • not enough to hurt. if you do get a vanguard, and youre serious about shooting, i suggest you get an aftermarket trigger for it. the stock is WAY too creepy..theres no warning, just a bang. aftermarket triggers are about $100 for a mid range one. Timney put out a good one. timneytriggers.xcom (minus the x) look for where it says weatherby/howa 1500. decent rifle otherwise...used mine yesterday..hitting tennis balls and coke can bottoms at 200yds with 80gr soft pt. Federal in the .243

  • @TruebluAussie I believe you are right i just got a 7mm mag vanguard and the trigger is suppose to come factory at like 3.2 pounds and adjustable but thats crap mine is squeeze and flinch and squeeze some more like ten pounds feels like and yeah its tricky.

  • witch one do you think is better this one ore a remongton 700

  • is the .243 Vanguard have much recoil?

  • @09Georgiegirl

ive not shot a vanguard in .243, but all the other .243's i have shot have very little recoil.

  • @09Georgiegirl i have a vanguard in a 243 and the recoils light, just a bit of jump but not much. more noise than anything

  • what type of ammo works best for your weatherby

  • Soo smoooth =]

  • Well, I floated the barrel, glassed the forestock, and reloading my own ammo (neck sized shoot Hornady .223 brass, 40 grain nosler balistic tip, 26.4 grains AA2230), and I'm shooting a sub half inch group. I left a raggedy hole at 100 yards that was the size of a nickle. Good gun!

  • Is the package deal for this gun in which comes a scope and a case good? Are scopes that come in package deals good in general?

  • I bought this rifle in .30-06 about a month ago. I have yet to shoot it since I am waiting to get the scope I bought mounted, a Nikon Prostaff 3-9x40 mounted with Leupold base and rings. Btw, I paid 350 for the rifle, and 212 for the base, rings, and scope, Cheaper than the package deal, and a better scope to boot. Look around and you can save a little money, although it does come with a sling, and a hard case.

  • I have a Vangaurd chambered in .270 and so far i love it :D Keeps 1 inch groups easy at 100 yards and doesnt kick to bad at all. I have a 3-9x50mm Nikon Prostaff scope on it, all in all spent just under 700 for it and its a very accurate rifle. Only complaint is when you load the magazine make sure the shells sit all the way to the back, i didnt do this one time and had a round try to jam, it didnt but could have if i had slammed it into the chamber quickly. Other than that great rifle.

  • I'm looking to buy my first long ranged rifle and I'm stuck between the Weatherby Vanguard and the Remington 770. I've read nothing but good for the Weatherby and a couple of bad things for the 770. Any suggestions?

  • hi mate, i cant comment on the rem as iv'e never fired one, but i only have good things to say about the weatherby.

  • The action looks superb. How's the average grouping?

  • ive never measured a grouping out i dont take it that seriously like the BR guys ( plus i dont claim to be a civvy sniper like a lot of youtubers ), its a working gun thats why i went the synth stock. can sink em all in the centre ring ( not in the bullseye but the ring around it ) most times out to 150M, beyond that i reach the limit of my cheap scope but still put everything reliably on target standing at 200M

  • the 770 is the new version of the 710 which i have DO NOT READ THE REVIEWS ON 770

they are mostly from people who do not own or have shot one

the 770's bolt is a little sticky but buy a little bottle of rem oil squirt it on the bolt, work the bolt 10-12 times and it loosens right up

but it is your choice hold both rifles and get the one that fits you better and just seems right at home in your hands.

  • remington 770 aint bad for the money but you cant compare it to a vanguard. the weatherby is a very smooth action the 770 is very ruff. but the vanguard cost $150 with a wood stock. but no scope. you sould go to a local shop or walmart and cycle some of the actions. savages aint bad either but they aint in the same catagory of rifle as a weatherby.

  • @blitzhalo the Vanguard is a much better rifle then ath 770, the 770 has had alot of problums and the Vanguard/howa 1500 is a very well made rifle for the money.

  • The Vanguard had a recall just like the oldder Rem 710 did. Remember the Remongton shotgun barrel lawsuit/recall back in the 1990s? All big-box store issues. I will only buy a .22 from a big box retailer like Wal-Mart. Gander Mtn. is ok though.

  • Man, I love mine. I have one in .308 Win in the green synthetic stock and a Nikon Prostaff 3-9 X 40 scope. I wouldn't trade that baby for anything. Nice Rifle.

  • It is accurate to a T. I'm getting less than a .10 MOA at 100 yrds with 40 grain hornday factory loads and penny sized groups at 200 yrds. Pretty much I'm sending the round through the same hole with deviance due to jerking or heat swells. Trigger is crisp. I put a cheap barska on it too. Spent like $530 total. Dealer sold me the vangaurd rings. I'm waiting to do handloads and go varmit killing come spring. One thing dude, The sticker is a little limp wristed. It's a good gun at all levels.

  • yeah i had my best results with winchester factory varmit ammo, i just loaded up a bunch of handloads and am about 3 weeks away from a trip shooting pigs and roo's so im eager to christen it.

i went cheap options also, tasco scope on Leopold aluminium mounts and rings, and the rifle itself was like $850 ( our dollar was getting 60c US at the time )

i know the sticker is dodgy, but i like it for some reason ( maybe its just i dont like plain stock, currently its wrapped in camo- form tape )

  • Lol, I'm going to leave mine with the plain color. I did sand down the mold ridges. My opinion about optics is most of the time it is the shooter's own eye site. I have lots of coyotes and large ground squirels to shoot. This would be the gun I would take if I was to go on a boar shoot in the southern US except I am go 55 grains in the head. Weatherby is a good product for the price. Better than the savage, howa, and remmington BB. Keep shooting and happy hunting.

  • I was getting tight groups with factory hornady 40 VMAX ammo. Winchester is suspect with the smaller rounds and from what I hear always has. Handload is the way to go. Get what you want and cheap.

  • maybe i lucked out and bought some fluke-ish decent winchester then. im heading to the range tomorrow to resight for the handloads ive made up.

  • Tomorrow I'm going out hunting for mule deer and elk. I've got a Ruger in a .270 winchester for those.

  • how did you go mate, bag any muleys or elk?

  • Filled my deer tag on a 30 inch 3x3 muley. He was out at about 200 yards. Tagged him right behind the skull on the neck. After I shot him, I came down with my scope and couldn't see him laying in the sage bushes. Dead on delivery hit. When I got up to him, he was still doing some nerve kicks but was done. Nothing like a 150 grain Nosler going 2700 FPS. How was roo and hog hunting? Roo have got to be a little tough to hit.

  • nice work! i had to put the trip off untill the 30th on nov ( i was supposed to have left yesterday ) due to weather interrupting the harvest and also mulesing the sheep, so i havent been yet. ill let you know how it turns out.

  • roos go down easy. The .17hmr knock them over easily up to 150m and .22lr will knock them over up to 75 or so metres

  • I've got a .17 HMR. Does fine on prarie dogs and foxes. 200 Yards I'm good to. Beyond that the round is ineffective. I bought the .223 Remmington for longer range shooting. Coyotes don't like coming in close.

  • yeah ive taken 6ft reds with my stirling .22LR at 50M, havent got a .17 yet but im keen to try one out

  • cant say ive really seen any wild reds but i shoot the eastern greys and have shot one western grey

  • hahahah, read the description you stupid cunt, they are SNAP CAPS not live rounds, the stickers there cause i like it and it shoots plenty straight.

  • hahaha.....feel kinda stupid?

  • no, do you?

  • Have you tried shootin with it? how is it? Im thinking of gettin a rifle with same cal. but cant decide if I should get this one, or a remington with a cheaper scope.

  • hi, yeah ive put about 400 rounds through it at this stage, shoots very nicely. for an entry level gun ( its pretty much the cheapest weatherby ) i was suprised at how accurate it is.

  • Nice, i'll probably get one this fall/winter then :)

Bugs bunny better watch out xD

  • i have the same gun but a diff scope

  • Was that 'Weatherby' sticker supplied with the rifle as standard or did you have to pay extra for that?

  • it came in the box when i bought it. i had nowhere to stick it so i put it on the stock. it also had some uncle mikes sling swivels in the box with it.
