@bdemare00 It seems that finger-touch is automatically disabled when the stylus tip is within range of the screen, and re-enabled when the screen no longer detects the stylus tip.
the cintiq12wx is purely made for drawing with its sensitivity and points per inch. those are different things but i ratcher want a cintiq12wx without connection to draw aswell
Thank you so much for this video. I was looking for an artist's perspective on it, not a PC reviewer, who would just complain it was underpowered and overpriced (ignoring the fact a Cintiq 12WX is $999 new and requires a computer for use). I have been hoping to purchase an EP121 to help me art away from my desk, as I can't sit here very long due to back pain.
Hey dude you answered some questions a while back. I'm starting to do some freelance through odesk. Not much but is getting me started. I am looking to funding my own asus through it. However the Slate 7 from samsung came out. Have you seen it in use? Some say it is more powerful than the asus and faster, but the dimensions and give on the screen is not that great.
@spicejustin You can disable it. but, from what I saw, it's disabled automatically when the Wacom Digitizer comes close to the screen anyways. And re-enabled when it's further away.
(bishoplynx) hi bishoplynx, i have a question, i like to draw and i have a wacom bamboo, id like to upgrade, but the price of a cintiq is to much for me, do you think this pc is a good option for people whoi dont have money to buy a cintiq or is upgrade to a intuos? please answer :)
I think you should change the title Artist Developers Tablet Ep121 with mini wireless Keyboard wireless, Im not a artist, also I have no mini keyboard instead I ve created a button controller on the screen with the Itouch Chessware, actually I have 3 key keyboards of my own creation, includimg lins for hotmail, ebay, etc
What kind of pen were u using and how is the pressure sensativity on this tablet. I'm seriously considering purchasing one. In your opinion is it worth getting one.
ni i had to buy on amazon fir £999 :( but then got it one day later and it runs cs4 suite faster than my sony viao laptop. with touch sensitivty makes it well worth the price
Hey Bishop, I use Zbrush with my Eee Slate all the time. Works great. Have you thought about using a wiimote for hotkeys? Thats the solution I came up with when I needed the extra buttons. Works really well and you only need one hand. Nice Review!
Yeah the battery life doesn't bother me too much because after three hours sitting somewhere I'm ready to get up and move and can generally find a plug if I need too, like at a coffee shop or bookstore.
im wanting a tablet to use for my MCSE MCIPT study and think i should go for this or should i get an acer a500 w500 as i only need the tablet for reading video or should i get a hp2730p as i do IT support and also need something for the road hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
True the Cintiq is awesome but how the hell can you even compare it to the EP121 as a "Poor Man's Cintiq"?
The Cintiq is wired to a computer while the tablet is mobile. Yes there are obvious differences with the Pen pressure, resolution etc but if you want to use a Cintiq then purchase a Cintiq.
@ZeeDeveel19 They really are very different products, though. For students, a Cintiq would be somewhat useless. Or for people who like to draw in the park or whatever as well. I can easily see why someone would want a portable tablet. If you only use it at home, sure, it's a poor man's cintiq. If you use it on the move then Wacom doesn't really make anything that lets you do that. I'm never out of the house, so I got a 24HD in the mail :D
fucking Jealous. The Cintiq is next on my list of home studio purchases. The more I use the Asus on the go, the less I want to use the Intuos when I get home.
@bishoplynx Yeah, the leap between intuos and cintiq is pretty massive. I used intuos for ages, then I got a 12WX for cheap and suddenly realized how important hand to eye coordination was. Seeing what your hand is doing in relation to what you're drawing is vital. I'll get my 24hd in the mail in about a week. That's when the shame kicks in. Cause my drawing skills are WAY too crappy to justify the price of a 24HD.. But.. The heart wants what the heart wants... :P
Most people who own Cintiqs like myself also own a Tablet PC like this Asus because we don't want to be tethered to our desks. In fact, if I had to choose, I would give up the Cintiq before my Tablet PC.
man i have got to stop using those crappy wacom tablets. they are so out of style every time i animate i have to be confine into this little 5.8 x 3.6 inches i think, i got to get me one of these. is this a laptop how big is the screen? and how much? in US dollars
Hi there! I just sent my ep121 for repair, and while i'm anxiously waiting, I found this application that might be useful for you owners of ep121. Have you ever thought you wanted to use both, stylus on the other hand while using on-screen keyboard with the other? :D well, check this out: watch?v=LTHbCNiUpK4
oh yeah, and if you check the forums when you follow the links, you will learn that you can DISABLE the fingertouch, and still have the on-screen keyboard touchable. Then you can safely rest your palm on the screen while drawing, yet have a functional on-screen keyboard. In Addition, you can push the BUTTONS and use STYLUS AT THE SAME TIME. The buttons are also configurable via slight simple scripting with memopad++ or alike. Hope you find this useful, cause i really did. :)
You have the ability to turn the touch screen off so it doesn't recognize your hand. It's supposed to ignore your hand when using the pen but it's a little "touchy". I keep it off unless I need it since I use the pen 99% of the time.
I use an Rii keyboard like in the video. But I've since been introduced to
"rawinputcontroltest.ahk" google it. It's the first entry.
tap into googles "translate this page" if you can't read it.
I'll be posting soon regarding this little on screen gem. But other than that I still have the Rii mini keyboard that I use for Zbrush, PS and any other program. Maya is the only one that bothers me because the Wacom pen only has one switch on the side. You can work around it but it's annoying.
Hello, I have a noob question, please help - how do you use Zbrush without a keyboard? I would like to get a tablet pc for commuting, but I assumed I wouldn't be able to use 3D programs (zbrush, 3dsMax, Maya) because one is relient on keyboard buttons for moving the camera, etc. Is there a work-around?
The display for this is WSVGA (1024×600) I was wondering how the resolution looks for you personally? It's hard to tell from the video, so I am curious how clear details are to see?
How do you feel about it's use with photoshop CS5? I heard from another video, if you are someone who uses more layers it starts to lag. I've been really considering this for Photoshop, Illustrator, and zbrush. Also, is it easy to get used to the 12.1 screen while working? Sounds quite small.
I haven't felt any lag so far but at the same time I haven't created any final pieces on this yet so it's a little hard to say. the size doesn't bother me. It's not meant to replace my macbook so aside from the 2d animation projects that I can run start to finish, I generally use this as a way to work when I have to be more mobile and to start projects I can later pick up on the macbook. And it's great to bring into a meeting with a client.
@bishoplynx Okay thanks. Btw, do you know the difference between what you have and the "ASUS Eee Slate B121-A1" model? Don't know why that one is so much more expensive.
hey buddy! What is the last prog youve used? I´m looking for a good Animation-Prog (flipbook-style), too. I´ve tried "pencil" nor "toonboom animate" but those didnt fit my workflow. But the prog you showed did! Please tell us the name. thx
Thanks heaps, your video made me order one! I just had to make sure photoshop/zbrush and maya worked well. Next would be to buy that Rii when I get some more money in :P
Many Thanks for posting this. I really wanted to watch a good artist using this tablet since many months ago. When it gets 200$ i'm considering buying it as an art tool.
Do you know if the screen still detects your hand when the stylus approaches the screen?
If yes it will make conflicts between your hand and pen when you draw

I want help on wacom bamboo tablet.....
As i am character artist & work with zbrush & need to deal with 2 to 3 mil polygons to get fine details....
So which pressure sensivity is best for zbrush sculpting
512 or 1024 Or any other

To get fine details you're going to deal with way more then 2 to 3 million polys.
Get an Intuos 4 over a Bamboo in my opinion.
