A VISION OF BEAUTY, EMBRACING THE WORLD! I love how evocative this story can be, how you can clearly feel the passion and desire of the protagonist while at the same time sympathize with Kouji and the shattering of his pitiful notions of a reasonable world.
I don't understand what is the problem with sex. It's an adult game. With adult themes. Be adult about the content too. I would hope most of you who read this were adults when you did.
Beautiful song! I loved it during the ending where Fuminori kills himself, especially the scene where he was just standing there and saying "Saya...", it send shivers down my spine. I agree with most of you that the sex scenes - although with a purpose - were too frequent and have gone too far, implying them would have been enough. This way I can hardly recommend this to anyone, even though it's the most twisted and sick thing I've ever seen. And surprisingly emotional.
It's a story about two complete monsters with no concept of human morality in a tragic love story: the only way they can be together is by ruining everyone else.
if a anime was done it would have to be carefully directed, as with some lovecraft works its much better when the horror is only glimpsed and shown off screen
Maybe she did do the right thing. Who would want their beloved ones to judge them because of what they looked like?
They fell in love with their eyes closed, meaning without judgment and they accept each other. But if he were to open his eyes and see her for who she really was, who's to say that he will still love her in the end if his beloved truly is a horrible monster?
I don't see Saya as a monster. Just too beautiful and astounding for Human's to understand, which is what drives them insane.
But, for Humans suffering from Fuminori's branch of agnosia, it can lessen her beauty and make it comprehensible to Humans. When her life is finally done, and she intends to remake the world and continue Humanity onto it's next plane, with a new form, it was like a gift from a god.
Even though he gave up everything, and is tortured everyday, I'd want what he has.
@LordOfTheFridge Saya is an Eldritch abomination straight out of a Lovecraftian story, but like her 'father' Ogai, Fuminori is able to see deeper than looks. He figures out why Saya looks human to him, but dismisses it, because he's already beginning to lose his mind. Saya is the ultimate irony because she keeps him from complete insanity, while also being a hideous entity which drives others to insanity at just the sight of her.
@HackedStats No way, you mother fucker. She may be different than Humans, but she's just a million times more beautiful. Beauty is measured in power and how close you are to omnipotence, since Saya comes from a higher race than Humans, she's more amazing and beautiful than anything.
@Computerbugs Yeah, for some reason the link breaks for no reason. Pasting it into the address bar makes it add extra characters and makes it not work. If you plug the link into google it works just fine.
Nah, dude "too beautiful for humans" with the word beautiful being through and through connected to human aesthetics? Let's calm down a bit, her true physical appearance is abominable for humans. But that's not what's important with her I think, the real importance lies with her actually being able to adopt human emotions, even love. And that was touching and gave her profound beauty.
But unlike Saya, who doesn't know better, Fuminori is a real dick and not to be envied.
@KokoroNoShiroOkami Visual novel. A "game" in that you can interact with it at certain points, but ONLY at certain points (read: two), and that's only to make a decision that affects the remainder of the story. It reads as you would a novel except the dialogue is voiced and portraits appear behind the text so as to help better visualize the story.
If I woke up on my bed, still drowsy because I have to wake up early for school, and realize the guts and blood all over my house, I destroy my logic and go back to sleep.
This music sends a shiver up my spines every time I listen to it, especially from 0:16, when the violin starts playing. It's arguably the most fitting soundtrack for the overall mood of the visual novel.
But , come on , you had to agree that their love are so move . At least let them live without being interfere , it don`t had to end like this , man . Like they can live in the forest , eating animal , live happly ever after , that does`t sound bad .
In the end , I really want to cry , cry alot for their love story . She is not just a monster , she is more human than any human in this world , and her love is so great that she is willing to die for Fuminori `s sake . Fuminori too, love her deedly , they should not be never be separated . Damn , Damn ,Damn ,Damn ,Damn ,Damn ,Damn ,Damn ,Damn ,Damn it all
The "Bloom" ending - that this music went with - was insanely depressing. Sure, I'm not talking as opposed to any other of the game's endings, but all I could imagine was Texas Stadium morphing into a huge lung while demons straight out of "Constantine" did the Blade thing forcing their way out of people's mouths.
This song actually made me shrug off a bunch of my friends when I was finally at the ending of the game where she spread her spores around to infect humanity .(yeah I was playing this when my friends are all doing their college projects. I was there with them as an advisor, and only when my advice is needed will I speak)
This song is perhaps one of the most hauntingly beautiful songs I known done for an eroge, if not the most hauntingly beautiful song I have ever heard.
@HackedStats But if you choose to stay with Saya Fuminoru will realize that Saya isn't human and that she's even eating human meat. Fuminori isn't an idiot, he understand that while his condition made him an outcast, getting rid of this illness will force him to leave Saya. Despite learning the truth he decides to sacrifice his own humanity for their love.
In my eyes Saya no Uta is a story that shows how blind "normal" humans can be and how supposed insanity can open you eyes to inner beauty
@azgan123 You should know better than reading comments in a video about a VN or an anime before having actually finished reading the novel. It's your own fault, really...
Sex scenes are generally just tacked-on for the sake of fulfilling certain VN-players. Most of the sex-scenes were fine, but the two rape scenes, especially the torture one was badly out of place.
I enjoyed how the game leaves much of the actions in a tragic gray zone, leaving you to decide who was right and wrong, but Saya raping whats-her-face was character-breaking for me. It nearly destroyed my ability to empathise with Saya and Fuminori, its a scene the story could have done without.
@Sneakysneaky88 Fuminori explains why she did all that to Yoh. It's because Saya has become "human", and the darkest part of any human is enjoying the suffering of another.
Saya gives Yoh to Fuminori despite the fact that she hates her, because she thought Fuminori would like a pet who looks human. The sexuality of Saya no Uta is essential to Saya's "blooming"-- after consuming enough human sperm, she can alter every human in the world into the same being. And they'll look human to Fuminori.
@Sneakysneaky88 Also, Yoh's role was to allow Saya room to experiment.
As I recall, Fuminori actually does have mixed feelings about the sheer cruelty of what she did, but Saya's slow and progressive corruption of his mind allows him to eventually see things her way-- so he 'uses' the 'toy' Saya 'made' for him.
It's all very fucked up, but you have to keep in mind neither of these characters are mentally stable, and Fuminori has long abandoned 'empathy' or 'morals'.
this game was so GREAT! the story was just so great i wasnt bored a single second while i was playing it XD and the music was just so wonderful this has to be my fav visual novel XD
True, the rape scene is important, but they could change the rape into violence (him trying to strangle her for example).
Saya's true form would be easy to avoid as 90% of the time she's around, you see her through Fuminori's perspective. The other 10% can be done in the very same way the VN did it - only showing the victim's face of terror and possibly a few tentacles similar to what you see in the CGs.
@Chaos0Seraph I disagree. The rape scene(s) were really tacked on and unnecessary. (SPOILER) When Saya was the rapist, it was character-destroying for me. It was no longer emotionless necessity to survive, but was actively indulging in torture to satisfy a whim. It ruined the ability to empathise with her (and Fuminori, after his reaction), and cut them straight into just 2D monster antagonists, destroying the beautiful grey area.
The rape can be lampshaded over. No sexual content needed.
yeah, the sex-scenes were SOOOO out of place it's not even funny... it breaks the mood you know, and even for those who want to play a VN and uhh... masturbate, how can you feel pleasure from such a sad story? anyway... it would be awesome as a anime.
@Vexe1 Gore should be just fine for anime. Sex doesn't have to be shown, it can be implied and Saya could even get her tits out. Elfen Lied did it, after all, and that was very popular. I too would love to see an anime of this.
@Vexe1 H-Scenes, especially when used how they are in SnU, can be extremely important to the story. Just cause you feel all high and mighty about yourself doesn't make this statement right.
The same applies to you. What part of that post makes me seem conceited? All I did was state my opinion - that none of the sex/gore scenes are important (read: easily replaceable without affecting the story). Replace the rape with violence, be very vague about their food (gel, fridge contents not shown), etc.
For example, look what happened to the Rin sex scene in the Unlimited Blade Works movie.
@Vexe1 i think you must have a vast misunderstanding of the english language, because everything you've said to me makes absolutely no sense. How am I a hypocrite for thinking the h-scenes were important, and what exactly is the "same" that applies to me? Also way to use one of the worst example in recent memory for trying to get around H-scenes that i can remember, I literally laughed out loud when I saw it (it's also the exact same thing they did in the actual anime however many years back)
@Vexe1 Also I certainly hope you aren't implying one of the notoriously worst examples of trying to circumvent hentai in an anime as a "good example"(referring of course to the exact same thing they did back in the actual anime whenever it aired with Saber) Guess what? That scene made me feel nothing for rin, or for shirou, or for their relationship at all, which didn't even exist in the UBW movie..they should just not have even had that scene in there at all. And why were they naked? What?
Not at all. The sex is important in the plot. They can easily make it just look like it happened, though.
But this would be freaky enough only if they kept Saya's real appearance out of the screen. Showing her up would spoil the story's atmosphere. Gore is rather common in the screen.
I just doubht it would go really go past the Tokyo Loliban easily, since in Fuminori's perspective she is a 10 year old girl.
@AstralSword They never explicitly state how old Saya is in his eyes; She has breasts, so she would be at least 12 or 13. Which is at least a little better. And she's technically the Spawn of Cthulhu anyway, so how do you even define that?
I was being over dramatic when I said 10 year old, but 13 isn't a lot better IMO.
And there is indeed Lovecraftian reference here.
But Fuminori actually could bypass this by not seeing her real appearance (which is the whole point of Cthulhu not being perceived by human cognition) so I guess we can define her age, or at least try, according to Fuminori's perspective.
@johncmcham But even so, some scenes are needed to be. Like rape of the Saya by that neighborhood, and first sex scene, i think, cause its show a lot of feeling of Fuminori to Saya , but after there begins a group scenes all the plot transforms in the porn comedy... Pity, because of that i was glad that lovers are dead in the end.
I thnk it better end the story with Fuminori in Asylym.
@Mazgid All the sex scenes in Saya no Uta had a purpose. The reason they show Fuminori raping Yoh along with Saya is to show not only that Fuminori has lost touch with his humanity and become a Complete Monster, but also that Saya's personality has a duality to it. Saya isn't morally bankrupt but in fact knows nothing of morals at all. She wants Fuminori to praise her, and Yoh was a tool she used to gain his favor. The scene displayed how low he's fallen from Saya's influence. His mind is gone.
@Mazgid I still think the scene with the neighbor assaulting Saya was one of the most hilarious ones around since only half a scene earlier she easily overpowered him to do her freaky brain experiments. And suddenly she's not able to hold him back, just 20 minutes later? Come on, bad writing. I was rolling my eyes. The only explanation that I accept, is her wanting to be saved by her lover, because of sth she read in one of her novels.
Saya only scare and trip him at first. on the second encounter she wasn't expecting him to attack her. Plus at that point she think that all people are nice, she was just naive at that point.
@Vexe1 The sex scenes are very important, even though you can get the story without it . If you look past the fact they were sex, and observe the themes of all the scenes, you'll see that they symbolize something. The first scene was done out of the main character's loneliness in a warped world. As the story progresses, the sex scenes become increasingly violent and graphic, to the point of rape. The sex scenes represent the main character's deteriorating psych.
@Vexe1 I was thinking the same thing when I was close to finishing the game: that this should have an anime--preferably an OVA.
I would recommend this to someone, not because of the sex scenes (because I'm really indifferent towards them), but because of the great atmosphere and story this game invokes. I would say the biggest factor is because of its amazing soundtrack.
I think the gore is important, though. Removing that is like removing the soul of the game.
@Vexe1 To be fair, the sex scenes did contribute a little bit to the taboo atmosphere. It made Saya's spore babies possible, and it was used as a great lead in to Fuminori's comment about "deep within the darkest parts of all human beings, is the need to ruin something beautiful." Well he said something like that I think. The sex can be made less shown-more implied though so that it fits on television. Agreed on this being an anime. Human loves supernatural creature DONE RIGHT!? Yes Please~
@kar00z I completely skipped over the Sex Scenes and I dont think I missed anything important. An anime could be good, and they could very easily make episodes for each ending. have the episodes end on the point the decision pops up, then make episodes that follow up on each decision. there was only 3 endings and you cant really just choose the "Good" ending to run the anime with
@jawsTeh Sex itself isn't as important as moments after and before. There's a very "human" part of Saya's dialogue, for instance, when she tells her little tale of a blooming flower in the desert. Did sex need to be shown? No, but I think it still needed to be implied for setup. Sex may seem gratuitous, but there's much more meaning attached to it in stories if you can let go of social stigmas. Seen both versions. Censored works just fine, but it was nice that they didn't ignore what happened.
@kar00z yeah, when I skipped the Sex Scenes, I only skipped the actual Sex parts of it. Saya and Fuminori talking together just after they had Sex, I read that dialogue. They could easily make an Anime out of Saya no Uta, they do turn alot of Visual Novels into Anime, including Fate/Stay night which was originally an eroge
@jawsTeh I wonder if it could. I'd certainly get myself a hard copy if it ever came to America (fat chance haha), but I think the irony is that featuring someone of saya's perceived age with an adult is even more taboo when done in a reserved down to earth way than when it's just straight up hentai. One can dream I guess. btw I remember Fate/Stay night. Never read the eroge so there was a certain scene near the end of the series where I had to say 'wait. what?' A friend explained later heh.
@kar00z lol, I havent seen Fate/Stay night myself, I just read the wiki on it. Btw, there WAS an american Comic version of Saya no Uta called Saya's Song. I wonder how it is. *quick hint, it seems about as accurate as Dragon Ball Evolution and I came to that conclusion from reading one Synopsis and Review*
@jawsTeh Do NOT read it! If you have any love for the original as I do, it will only serve to make you weep. It's what you'd expect of the American take on horror. Saya's less of an innocent lost creature clinging to empathy, and more of your femefatale, that practically screams "I'M SECRETLY EVIL!!!" in every panel from what I'd looked at. Nevermind the one where she's got Fumi slaughtering a hospital with an axe. I swear, deep down, some comic makers just want to ruin something beautiful...

I have a question about this game, where can I find the good ending? *SPOILERS AHEAD*
one ending has Saya Die and Ryoko is slowly turning into the monster she wants to destroy
Another has Fuminori in a Mental Hospital, never to see Saya again
and the last has Fuminori and Saya dead, with Kouji descending into insanity
Wow, Fuminori and Saya cant catch a break, can they?

Saya no Uta is a story about love that transcends perception. After all, Saya knows that she is a monster-- and no one can love a monster.
She can't even show herself to Fuminori in the "good" end. She's too afraid. She wants him to remember her as he saw her when he had Agnosia.

xzaxwarudox 1 year ago
The sex scenes aren't exactly unimportant either. They're part of the plot, as Saya is trying to reproduce.
Terralventhe 2 years ago 3
yeah, the sex-scenes were SOOOO out of place it's not even funny... it breaks the mood you know, and even for those who want to play a VN and uhh... masturbate, how can you feel pleasure from such a sad story? anyway... it would be awesome as a anime.
DavetzWin 2 years ago
@Vexe1 I agree, the sex scene can easily be excerpt out and you still have a REALLy thought provoking story to tell.
Lithiel 1 year ago
@Vexe1 Gore should be just fine for anime. Sex doesn't have to be shown, it can be implied and Saya could even get her tits out. Elfen Lied did it, after all, and that was very popular. I too would love to see an anime of this.

@Vexe1 H-Scenes, especially when used how they are in SnU, can be extremely important to the story. Just cause you feel all high and mighty about yourself doesn't make this statement right.
sibbie1023 1 year ago
@sibbie1023
Hypocrite. Just because you feel all high and mighty doesn't mean others do.
Vexe1 1 year ago
@Vexe1 yes im very high and mighty about me enjoying porn. what? did you even think about what you were going to say before you said that?
sibbie1023 1 year ago
@sibbie1023
Vexe1 1 year ago
@Vexe1 i think you must have a vast misunderstanding of the english language, because everything you've said to me makes absolutely no sense. How am I a hypocrite for thinking the h-scenes were important, and what exactly is the "same" that applies to me? Also way to use one of the worst example in recent memory for trying to get around H-scenes that i can remember, I literally laughed out loud when I saw it (it's also the exact same thing they did in the actual anime however many years back)
sibbie1023 1 year ago
@Vexe1 Also I certainly hope you aren't implying one of the notoriously worst examples of trying to circumvent hentai in an anime as a "good example"(referring of course to the exact same thing they did back in the actual anime whenever it aired with Saber) Guess what? That scene made me feel nothing for rin, or for shirou, or for their relationship at all, which didn't even exist in the UBW movie..they should just not have even had that scene in there at all. And why were they naked? What?
sibbie1023 1 year ago
@Vexe1 well probably the sex scenes were necesary to make a stronger bond between fuminori and saya
AvatarTTfan 1 year ago
@Vexe1 And hopefully, if they do they will keep the original soundtrack
Tubarulz64 1 year ago
@Vexe1
AstralSword 1 year ago
@AstralSword They never explicitly state how old Saya is in his eyes; She has breasts, so she would be at least 12 or 13. Which is at least a little better. And she's technically the Spawn of Cthulhu anyway, so how do you even define that?
HackedStats 11 months ago
@HackedStats
AstralSword 11 months ago
@Vexe1 Sex scenes - the only thing, that makes this game bad and crushing all of the atmosphere.
Mazgid 1 year ago
@Mazgid yeah, some eroges aren't meant to have them
johncmcham 11 months ago
@johncmcham But even so, some scenes are needed to be. Like rape of the Saya by that neighborhood, and first sex scene, i think, cause its show a lot of feeling of Fuminori to Saya , but after there begins a group scenes all the plot transforms in the porn comedy... Pity, because of that i was glad that lovers are dead in the end.
I thnk it better end the story with Fuminori in Asylym.
Mazgid 11 months ago
@Mazgid All the sex scenes in Saya no Uta had a purpose. The reason they show Fuminori raping Yoh along with Saya is to show not only that Fuminori has lost touch with his humanity and become a Complete Monster, but also that Saya's personality has a duality to it. Saya isn't morally bankrupt but in fact knows nothing of morals at all. She wants Fuminori to praise her, and Yoh was a tool she used to gain his favor. The scene displayed how low he's fallen from Saya's influence. His mind is gone.
HackedStats 11 months ago
@Mazgid I still think the scene with the neighbor assaulting Saya was one of the most hilarious ones around since only half a scene earlier she easily overpowered him to do her freaky brain experiments. And suddenly she's not able to hold him back, just 20 minutes later? Come on, bad writing. I was rolling my eyes. The only explanation that I accept, is her wanting to be saved by her lover, because of sth she read in one of her novels.
march88 11 months ago
@march88
Saya only scare and trip him at first. on the second encounter she wasn't expecting him to attack her. Plus at that point she think that all people are nice, she was just naive at that point.
XxOakxX 10 months ago
@Vexe1 Absolutely, I would love an anime based on this, I'd even buy it rather than download.
Dottboyrpg 9 months ago

Removing that is like removing the soul of the game.
theshredder 9 months ago
@Vexe1 That would be a really, really short anime.
Kelohmello 6 months ago
@Kelohmello
OVA / Movie, yeah.
Vexe1 6 months ago
@Vexe1 To be fair, the sex scenes did contribute a little bit to the taboo atmosphere. It made Saya's spore babies possible, and it was used as a great lead in to Fuminori's comment about "deep within the darkest parts of all human beings, is the need to ruin something beautiful." Well he said something like that I think. The sex can be made less shown-more implied though so that it fits on television. Agreed on this being an anime. Human loves supernatural creature DONE RIGHT!? Yes Please~
kar00z 5 months ago
@kar00z I completely skipped over the Sex Scenes and I dont think I missed anything important. An anime could be good, and they could very easily make episodes for each ending. have the episodes end on the point the decision pops up, then make episodes that follow up on each decision. there was only 3 endings and you cant really just choose the "Good" ending to run the anime with
jawsTeh 5 months ago
@jawsTeh Sex itself isn't as important as moments after and before. There's a very "human" part of Saya's dialogue, for instance, when she tells her little tale of a blooming flower in the desert. Did sex need to be shown? No, but I think it still needed to be implied for setup. Sex may seem gratuitous, but there's much more meaning attached to it in stories if you can let go of social stigmas. Seen both versions. Censored works just fine, but it was nice that they didn't ignore what happened.
kar00z 5 months ago
@kar00z yeah, when I skipped the Sex Scenes, I only skipped the actual Sex parts of it. Saya and Fuminori talking together just after they had Sex, I read that dialogue. They could easily make an Anime out of Saya no Uta, they do turn alot of Visual Novels into Anime, including Fate/Stay night which was originally an eroge
jawsTeh 5 months ago
@jawsTeh I wonder if it could. I'd certainly get myself a hard copy if it ever came to America (fat chance haha), but I think the irony is that featuring someone of saya's perceived age with an adult is even more taboo when done in a reserved down to earth way than when it's just straight up hentai. One can dream I guess. btw I remember Fate/Stay night. Never read the eroge so there was a certain scene near the end of the series where I had to say 'wait. what?' A friend explained later heh.
kar00z 5 months ago
@kar00z lol, I havent seen Fate/Stay night myself, I just read the wiki on it. Btw, there WAS an american Comic version of Saya no Uta called Saya's Song. I wonder how it is. *quick hint, it seems about as accurate as Dragon Ball Evolution and I came to that conclusion from reading one Synopsis and Review*
jawsTeh 5 months ago
@jawsTeh Do NOT read it! If you have any love for the original as I do, it will only serve to make you weep. It's what you'd expect of the American take on horror. Saya's less of an innocent lost creature clinging to empathy, and more of your femefatale, that practically screams "I'M SECRETLY EVIL!!!" in every panel from what I'd looked at. Nevermind the one where she's got Fumi slaughtering a hospital with an axe. I swear, deep down, some comic makers just want to ruin something beautiful...
