Ok first off what in the world are you doing with a thick ass rug lol? Might as well have carpted the whole floor. I hate those carpets easy to even trip on. This is actually insulting the Roomba. Obviously it's not for everyone. So dont say it failed, more like you failed to realize your carpets are 2inches thick lol and the roomba clears like 1inch. I wanted to buy one , but cant because of too much clutter ( thickish carpets, or to many thing sin the way) Anyways Boo to you.
The Roomba was advertised as being able to handle transitions from bare floor to carpet with ease. They shouldn't have made such claims. My carpets are only about 5/8" thick, these are typical rugs. I hope this video discourages people buying the Roomba if they have complicated floor surfaces.

My Roomba (510) tried three times to get on to my rug...so it ran away and the n came back to a different edge of the rug and finally got on, lol.

I agree if you have too many tigh places and complicated carpet placement this isnt for you.
