  • RES also like goldfish mine eats them like crazy

  • are they full size?

  • how big is this aquarium?

  • Fish gladiators the last fish alive gets his freedom and by freedom I mean... Get put in the lizard cage.

  • What's the name of the fish you are feeding them? I want to give my sliders some live as a treat :)

  • @shannasweeney rosy red minnows

  • I'm getting 3 RES turtles I was wondering what size tank u recemend

  • @Kitten7543 honestly as big as your house can fit in cause eventually they'll get pretty big

  • @cross7fu wat kind of fish are those b cause my turttle is getting tired of pellets and HATES veggies

  • @cross7fu how many gallon water can your tank contain

  • @sheeptalk: yea mine ate large guppies when they were younger than 4 months

  • im gettin a red eared slider soon

    :)

    cant wait

  • What is the temperature you keep the water at?

  • @dksharktooth 24-28 in summer, 22-25 in winter

  • @cross7fu so basically room temperature in Celsius

  • @cross7fu how to you keep your water that hot when ever i change my water 2 days later it turns cold i have a ten gallon tank with a ten gallon regular water heater BUT HOW DO U KEEP YOUR WATER SOO WARM

  • @cross7fu mann your tank is so clean i thought it was a tank for lizards etc. lol

  • you should get a 50 gallon tank yours is good its just the gallon has alot of space

  • im keeping my two turtles just so i can watch them chase feeders like that!, great set up!!

  • Awesome dude. I have 2 of these But I just don't know where to get rid of them or keep them. Theyre so cool. But they're a pain once they get older.

  • yeah im thinking about a bigger tank myself. my turtles are fat and over fed. sigh sigh

  • the goldfish massacre

  • and I thought turtles ate pizza! god damn ninja turtles are sooo misleadin!!!

  • Ha ha they fighting ova fish. is it ok for 4 month old turtles to eat fish cause i got 2:)

  • that was so cool! loved watching them eat :)

  • what else do you feed them?

all my turtles eat are the pellets and chicken but i want to start feedind them some live fish and vegetables

  • @kagomekikyo100 mostly pellets, sometimes a little bit of chicken, beef and shrimp

u could try fish and vege, but most young aquatic turtles dont eat vege

  • @kagomekikyo100 or crickets

  • what type of fish its that

  • @dummy395 rosy red minnow

  • I wish my turtle did that, all it does is wait for me to put the pellet by his mouth

  • @dtrainduran lol, then stop doing that and give it fish instead, after they learned to catch fish u can feed it both

  • @cross7fu so I tried it aaaaand he's not ready yet, he was afraid of the flippin fish. Im gonna wait ill he gets bigger

  • @dtrainduran lazy ass turtle...i wanna know how to make a home made turtle deck

  • do you have a uv light for them? im new to taking care of res turtles. some sites say to get just uvb and some say get both uvb and uva light for them.

  • @YawningBoy I got a exo-terra UVB bulb and a spotlight for heat and UVA, u don need to buy a reptile use UVA bulb, its the same thing actually

without heat, UVB is useless, and heat is one of the power sources for reptiles, spotlight also provide certain amount of UVA, which makes them become active

  • okay thx.

  • i went to a local pet store and they said you don't have to get them a light but i put the light anyway

  • @orthacanthus1234 i'm doing that too because I had mine for about 2 years and his red ears aren't red yet. I'm guessing its cuz he's not healthy. His ears are orange. I just bought 2 clamp lamps and a uva bulb and i'm waiting for a uvb bulb in the mail.

  • @YawningBoy their body color is just like ours, people have different skin tones, its normal, but sometimes it is slightly affected by UV light and food, not to mention turtles skin color gets darker as they age and RES can mix with different turtles which makes different patterns and colors

  • @orthacanthus1234 they do need a basking and UVB lamp when they're indoor

  • whatt tipe of tank do you have

  • @dummy395 what do u mean?

  • mannn how do u keep that tank so clean, mines kind of cloudy

  • @7ItalianStallion sump tank filtration, its awesome

  • tank is to small filll the water up to the top

  • @mydogeatspeople they are living in a 3.5 feet tank now

  • @cross7fu thats good i like that thing in thare do the turtles go up on it much

  • how big is your tank?

  • @rocools its a 2 feet tank

  • great turtles! am planning on getting a res but l wunna get 2 is it ok if l keep 2 together like 2 males or either 2 females..........

  • @nidal23 theres always risk to put turtles together, but RES usually do fine together as long as in same size and the tank is big enough (they kinda need their own territory)

  • how did you make the basking area what is it made outta?

  • @xxsnipamonxx its made of plastic egg crate, its suppose to be installed to the ceiling to divide light, u can find it in hardware stores

basically I cut out some pieces, put them vertically as support and horizontally as platform, if u are gonna make one make sure to sand the edges so its safe for your turtles

  • Fuck my Turtles wont eat jack shit!!

  • @omes7922 eat what?o.0

  • @cross7fu NVM Its cause I bought the turtle food today so now their eating its all good now

  • You know putting stones at the bottom of the tank helps keep the water clean for longer cause it takes the waste in the stones and also stores food for him to eat later

  • @MarkDunne1698 hahaha turtles don stores food, I believe u mean they look for the food that sank into the gravels

well the waste goes inside the gravels doesnt mean they are vanished and dont produce ammonia, I have gravels in my tank now just to make it look natural, but actually its not good for turtle tank

u can see the water in this video is crystal clear coz I didnt put gravels in it, anything that drop to the bottom are removed by the waterflow

  • look at 1:17 the turtle looks so cute it tries to fit itself under the rock.

  • @dashina17 when they were small the cave can fit 2 of them lol

  • @cross7fu how long did it take to get them that big?mine is 3 inches. i keep him in a 15 gallon tank. he costs 5 dollars.mine ignores fish pls tell me how do you feed then fish. LOL

  • @dashina17 in this video they were around 9.5-7.5cm, and 5 months be4 that(when they first arrived) they were about 4cm

this tank is 15gal as well and it was pretty big for them in the first few months(but as u see it was already overcrowded 5 months later lol)

turtle pellets as main diet, water level is as high as possible so they have room to exercise and grow, also heat lamp to keep them active

turtles need time to get to know about new food, just put the fish in, he'll eat them eventually

  • dud i got a resd eared slider how old does he have to be to eat a fish

  • @oriongonzalesz to me it depends on the turtle's size rather than age, anyways I put shrimp and fish into the tank since they were like 5cm long, those were ghost shrimp and tetras meaning two-bite-size to the turtles at that time, I wasnt sure whether they would eat them or not but one day they were all eaten by my baby turtles, which means u can give them fish anytime, when they are really to eat fish u'll know, and remember the size of fish has to be proportioned to the turtles

  • @cross7fu oh well watch my video it has my turtle in it and tell me if u think hes big enough

  • @oriongonzalesz oh, its big enough for tetra and minnow, and never feed your pets flies or cockroaches, they may contain virus, insecticide or parasite, and I know a person who fed his turtle a fly and died not long after

  • @cross7fu alright well i wont but if i buy a bug from the store can i feed him

  • how many turtles do you have? what size and age are they? and gallon tank size?

  • @h8hax now I have 6 turtles, the RES are 13cm, snapper is 9cm, reeves turtle about 7cm, RES are about 2.5yrs old, snapper 2 yrs and rev around a yr

the tank in this video is 24" long, I guess its a 10gal, now Im using a 3.5 feet tank, not sure how many gal

  • Dang i wish mines would chase them in the light !!!

  • @cross7fu its a RES and thanks :)

  • Ok, my turtle is pretty small now but what do i do when hes "pond" size...i might be able to build a pond but if i dont what do i do. also, when or if i do build a pond, what do i do in the winter, do i bring them in? what size tank will fit MONSTA turtles. thanks plz reply

  • @UnknownGruunt first of all wt kind of turtle u've got? If its RES like mine then u can get a pre-formed pond or rubbermaid stock tank. Get a powerful filter depends on how many water your pond contains, u need a basking dock and UV light if the pond is indoor, if its outdoor then u don need any lighting, and basically thats all u need to do, it sounds simple but its not that easy when u actually doing it, so be4 it gets big u've got time to do the research of making a turt pond, hope this help

  • I love red ear slider turtles soo much! i hope to get some soon.

  • @HelloTravis23 hope to see yours on youtube soon

  • @cross7fu you will when i get some.

  • yeah things things are awesome. have 2 myself put 5 goldfish in woke up the nect day and they were gone

  • man my turtle is small its about small as a quarter I was wondering when can i feed it fishes and what kind of fishes

  • @omes7922 u can feed it fish when it doubled its size, the smallest feeding fish as I know is minnow, and its too big for your turt rite now

however due to the nutrition minnows are not the best feeding fish, guppies are better and really easy to breed, and most of them are smaller than minnows, easier for small turtles to eat

  • This is Good Way To Let Them Exercise As Well As To Eat. Great Job! =D

  • that is a horribly small tank for four turtles, you do know how big they will get right?

the rule of thumb is ten gallons per 1 inch of shell length.

  • @0oturtle yes i know, I've upgraded their tank now, and planning to build a pond for them

  • @cross7fu Wonderful! :)

  • good setup!!!, you say they are 2.5 years old now, how long are they now???

  • @gazza3112 thx, they are 13cm long now

  • Damn, they are so fast!!! I put some in, and my turtle just met them, and then they were lunch. Try some ghost shrimp, those suckers are fast too, so fast the turtles wouldnt even know where they went.

  • Wow they must be so fucking hungry to chase feederslike that, why would you exploit you little RES turtles like this?

  • @89vision89

i didnt, I feed them well wif pellets, they are just so crazy about fish

  • u can buy a regular spotlight(50-60W) at home depot to provide heat & UVA to your turtle, for UVB u must buy the UVB bulbs thats made for reptiles, u can find it at petstore, the best brands are exo terra and zoomed, 5.0 or 10.0 are best for turtles

  • what size tank is that it looks like a 40 gallon short and wide

  • im not sure I guess its 20 gal

  • Today was the first day I fed my turtles live fish. They were noobs at hunting LOL now the bigger one got the hang of it. The small one was mooching off one of its wounded prey.

  • lol cool

  • Thats awesome, I'm in the market for a single red eared slider. This would be fun to watch in real life.

  • nice, remember to get the set up ready be4 u bring it home

  • WoW cross7fu, your tank looks fine but you cant possibly keep 4 turtles in one tankl that size and they are all girls which means they will get HUGE, and you shouldnt be feeding them feeder fish because they have very little nutritional value and are usually loaded with a parasites. Your turtles must have been starving to go after the fish like that, whichwould imply that you are not taking very good care of them.

  • I know the tank is too small so I've upgraded their tank, pls check out my latest videos

Also they are all male, their claws hadnt grow long in this vid coz they were still small, u'll see their long claws in my other vids

Feeding fish are all CB so it is nearly impossible to have parasites, I fed them pellets every 2 days when they were that small, they were so crazy about fish becoz I rarely feed them fish

Plz watch the whole story be4 u judge anyone

  • Dude, how are you going to tell him what to do with his turtles, you dont even know anything about how s/he takes care of them. Thats the best turtle tank ive seen, their all healthy if they can swim that fast and have that much energy, and feeder fish are meant to be fed to things and if some do have parasites, they wont transfer to your pet unless its living with the fish for a few weeks. cross7fu isnt telling you how to take care of your fish,so y r u tellin him how to take care of his pets.

  • do u take them out of the tank for walks...is it necessary to do that i heard they become lazy if you dont..is it true?

  • it is not necessary to take them out for walk, they need both land and water, but swimming is their major activity, land are for basking and laying eggs mostly

if they get really big and your home cant fit in a tank thats big enough, u may get a baby bath tub as swimming area, wood board on the side as a ramp, so they can get into water or walk on the ground, but water thats deep enough to swim is essential, u cant keep them out for water for long time

  • I only take them out once a month for body check and record their sizes and weights

  • How old are your turtles?

  • they were about 1 yr old in this vid, they are about 2.5 yrs old now

  • i have two.why do they bite each others arms?

  • They just do that without reason(sometimes becoz of curiosity), u should sepreat them:\

  • what kind of fish is that?

  • rosey red minnows

  • how much do those fish cost???

  • $0.17 CAD each

  • how big of a tank should i have for my single turtle

  • depends on the size and species of your turtle

  • a 4 inch res

  • at least 20gal, they are great swimmers, u can put as much water as possible into the tank

  • My turtle won't eat the fish. If I leave them in there long enough without feeding him other food will he figure out to eat the fish?

  • if your turt is not hatchling then yes he will

  • my turtles are the same eating fish crazy lol

  • shit it's like rush hour in that tank. my turtles are lazy slow fuckers when it comes to fish. wtf. only one of mine can catch them.

  • lol

wt kind of turts are they? Try to hand feed them, they'll love it and chase after them

  • How big is your tank?

  • 24"

  • oh nice loving it.....I see you love RES like me that awesome!

  • at approximately what age/size should i start feeding my 2 res and how many fish they are either 1 or two months old i think

  • in my opinion, u can feed them fish whenever they start hunting them

I tried to feed my turts earthworm when they were like 6 months old, they were sooo scared of it and had no intention to eat the earthworm at all, then I put fish and shrimp in wif my turts, one day they realized those are food, since then they will go crazy when they see something moving in their tank

I feed mine twice a month, about 20-30 fish for my 4 RES, I think thats good enough

  • thanx for ur help.. ibought them minnows and they started goin for it in like 2 seconds like theyve had it be4. i think they rlly enjoyed it

  • ive been doing research and thinking about getting a RES should i really be nervous about buying a baby because of disease....and stick with buying one thats over 4 in.? Or is the disease thing really just a scare

  • it is a good idea to start wif an elder turtle becoz of higher resistance, but in my opinion RES are really easy to take care of, as long as u provide appropriate enclosure and diet to them they'll be just fine, but if u fail to do that, even u start wif an adult its still gonna get sick

  • haha, cute. i just got two baby RES. Ive got some neon tetras and guppies but my Red eared sliders dont chase them y?

  • well it takes time for them to realize those are food lol

there were neon tetras and shrimps in my tank as well, one day half of the fish and shrimp just disappeared, then I saw one of my turtles swim across the tank wif half a shrimp inside its mouth

  • thats exactly wat my turtle does he always get that fish the first time he sees it.

  • how big is that tank

  • aboyt 20 gal

  • Is that the size of tank they stay in all the time or you just do feeding in there?

  • This is where they live, gonna move them to a bigger tank soon

  • hey i had a res but it died, before he was goin to die some kind of bubble like liquid was cumin out of its mouth what could be the reason?..i have kept my turtles in a plastic container (a tub) and they get natural light as i have kept them near my big window.

  • when did it die? maybe it had a cold

  • it died 6 months back...anyways i have a new one now i feed them turtle food(pellets) what shud i feed them with which they can grow faster..they are abt 2 to 3 inches now.

  • u may also feed them feeder fish and shrimp, sometimes they eat vege too but mostly only adults are interested into it

its not a good thing to let them over grow, one meal per day for babies, one meal per 2-4days for sub adults and adults is good enough

  • so u mean i shud just feed them once a day....and how many pellets shud i give them per serving?

  • yes

about twice of their head size

  • How old are these RES? ABout 2 years?

  • they were about 8 months old in this video

  • hey how much did all that cost...plz answer back ,.... i will sub u

  • u mean the turts, turts+tank, or turts+tank+filter?

  • yea

  • Thanks for the vid and all of the information. I have a red ear slider that is about 6 inches long. He's always eaten pellets and dry shrimp. I have been hesitating to feed him fish but I now see that it should be fine. Best to you and the shell gang!

  • thx

your RES is really cool, its about the size of mine but yours look much bigger lol

  • whered you gett the cave thingy at 1:17 the turtles going into it.

  • @ petsmart, u can find it in most of the pet shops

  • i have a red eared slider turtle i hav it 4 a while now 2 day i got it a new big fish tank (24 by 12). i feed it twice a day (normal turtle food... if i start to feed it fish what kind how often and how much

  • my large one got a furry (i don't know if it just food or not but to make sure) substance on it neck (think moss underwater)

and the other question, can turtle sleep underwater, because my parent's bill are very high and we we don't have a lot of money so we didn't get them a platform, we just leave them water (about the same height as yours) and let them swim and they are comfortable there

  • The moss like thing on your turtle is some kind of mold, let him bask more often, and make sure the water is clean

wt kind of turtle is it? only a few kinds of turtles don need platforms

my red eared sliders are like most of the turts they need platforms to bask and support in the water to rest, they do sleep underwater but it would be more comfortable for them if they can sleep in the shallows wif the nose stay above the water to breath

  • hey man my red-eared slider has a lump on it's left side of her face, whats wrong with her?

  • its tympanitis, u have to take her to see the vet

    good luck

  • my uncle owns a pond he gave my some fish to feed my red ear slider the fish was a blue gillbaby i bite it the used there claws n riped it apart true!

  • can baby sliders eat fishes like that???

  • yes but if u give them alot of fish be4 introducing them to the babies they will get scared, and it is alwasy better to feed both pellets and fish, not just one kind of food

  • isnt sometime bad to have that much water?

since they struggle to swim up for air and how woudl they sleep?

cuz my tank is only filled just above their shell and when they sleep their heads are above water

    how does ur turtle sleep?

  • sliders r great swimmer, as long as u give them platform and place to rest and take breath u can put as much water as u want

they used to sleep on the platform on the back and right side of the tank, then I added another platform on the left side, u'll see it in my latest turtle video, the water depth on the platform is same as the thickness of the turtles, so they can stay warm in the water and just stick the nose above water while sleeping

  • cool yesterday i got my slider a mix of both comets and rosy reds there are still a couple of comets still left lol

  • I keep one comet goldfish as pet fish, it goes really fat now lol

  • do you feed your sliders comet goldfish? cause i do

  • just once, not gonna try again anymore...

they are too big for my sliders, they have to tear the fish into many pieces be4 when they eat

i watched a goldfish got snapped on the throat, blood came out beat to beat till it died...so i just feed rosy minnows now, they can usually just swallow them, besides goldfish is not the best choice of feeder fish

  • what kind of feeder fish do you reccommened?

  • I do not recommen goldfish and pleco, coz some breeders use chemicals to make goldfish more colourful, and plecos got hard and pointy scales

  • Also Cyprinidae(goldfish, carp), Corydoradinae(catfish, pleco, cory) and minnows contains Thiaminase, it will break down vitamin B1 and cause paralysis. And turtles may drown to death. But turtle food has variety of nutritions, so it only applys to turtles that eat fish mostly like snapper and matamata

Tetras, guppies, swordtail, platyfish and mollies has no Thiaminase, they are better feeder fish for turtles

  • how long can they live?

  • 20-40 years

  • how old and how big r they?

  • They were about 7-8 months old in this video, about 8cm in shell length, they are now about 1.4 years old and reached 12cm

  • yeeaahhh what a fight :)

  • do u have a fliter?

  • Yes, I use trickle filter, pipes are on 2 back corners of the tank

  • what size tank is that . 20 gallon?
