"Why is the US more religious than other industrialised countries?" Personally, I think one reason is poor education. Poor school education (some schools still teach creation science!!!) and then extremely expensive tuition costs for further education means that the education standard is unfortunately low in many parts of the US. The more educated a person, the more open they become to the idea that science trumps archaic books of fiction, but not every kid gets that far!
@littlemckay It's going to take a boost in education and then another generation or two to get a better religious balance. That's just my two cents. And I'm talking from experience: I went to school in the US and upon moving to UK, I was told I'd have to be put back 1-2 years to compensate (thankfully I was a dweeb who did a lot of extracurricular study and passed the tests so I didn't have to do that).
I think it's interesting that you make excuses for Obamas religious beliefs, and your grandmothers religious beliefs, but Ron Paul doesn't get the same leniency. You say "he's just playing politics" and "my Gmoms an old lady, what do you expect"...... Well let me remind you that Ron Paul is a 76 year old republican in Texas. Realistically he would be sacrificing whatever little election chance he has if he were to speak out against religion.
There's myriad reasons to want to slap Obama in the mouth, and there's a fair number on the actual left who feel the same. However, if this whole bloc neglects to vote for him, the US (and by extension the rest of the world) may be in far bigger trouble. For the love of all that is good in us, don't you fuck us over.
Pt. 3. How are people influenced by you? Look at the G.O.P. and what they Say, they'll cut "Medicad and Medicare", Social S. cut back the regulations on "Wall St.", the regulations on the E.P.A. etc. ANYTHING that is in our best intrest to have including the infrastructure the we need repaired but bacause the G.O.P {Say's} "get him out" the G.O.P followers overlook cutting off thier own nose's dispite their face's. Thanks for your time and as always I appreciate your videos.
Pt 2..I just wanted to comment on your comment and view about the President and the N.D.A.A. If you have followed everything that he has done and you can see that this man is Nobody's dummy or a wannabe dictator then you Know in the back of your mind if nowhere else that it is Not his intention to have this bill carried out and stick, that he is trying to get it to the courts Now before the Republicans can get a hold of it and Really make it stick.
Hi "GenerationXeroFilms" pt.1. I'm hoping that you will retract your statement about "not knowing if you'll vote for the President" because you give the mis-informed, the bigots and the idiots a reason to doubt all that he has accomplished and as you do have viewers you can influence them and at this point, Every vote counts and to Not vote for him is to just hand your vote over to the clowns that want to run our country. For truth in politics watch M.S.N.B.C. On to part 2.......
Tool is absolutely AMAZING! seeing them live the first time is the closest thing to a religious experience im ever gonna have, and good choice on "Right in Two", but i have to say "Lateralus" is my fav by far (not that anyone cares)
Obama is the most religious president we have had since Carter. He named his autobiography after his favorite sermon. he regularly quotes religious passages in speeches and uses New Testament examples in making his case for programs.
I left comment and u ppl have been email'n me all kinds of stupid shit. Stop I watched this vid just to c what u ppl had to say. Didn't like it, left a comment that's that so don't reply to me
@csaver Don't think so. Lot's of european country have laws addressing freedom of belief, in much the same terms than US 1st amendment. But, except right wing extremist our polititians don't play with religion in politics anymore. Because religions have screw us over since the fall of the roman empire.
US polititians play with religions like T. J. "King" Kong (Dr Strangelove) riding an atomic bomb like rodeo cowboy ... people follow & are religious. At the end it goes Kboom.
@frenchatheiste Most European countries have a history of an "official" religion, while the United States does not. And YES, we do enter areas of grey when describing what can be attributed to the influence of LAW and influence of CULTURE.
The United States has been a swirly melting pot of ideas with no official guide from up high, so while European religion stagnated, American culture has been intensely religious.
If you want to answer "How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?" respond with "As much wood as a woodchuck could if a woodchuck could chuck wood."

Black Jesus on the community church wall - amazing after stink fest that arose when Madonna did a video featuring a black Jesus. or perhaps because of it.
Decent Q&A. I recommend watching some of 'The Atheist Experience'. Those guys have been doing that show for many years; their arguments are quite sound.
Though I agree w/ most of what you're saying, I don't think only religion is responsible for atrocities. Take what you said about the head-cutting, psychopaths do just that and ironically enough, they're not motivated by religion. Even Hitler himself was driven by a personal outlook on life and what he thought was the source of society's ills, not religion per se.
Dude, that's nothing. On the street I live on, there are 2 churches side by side and another directly across the street from them(one baptist, one pentecostal, and one presbyterian) . And that's just on my street. And my city is very fucking small. A population of just under 5,000 people. Here, there are over 325 listings for churches and other places of worship. It's both sad and pathetic. You can look it up if you want, Hazard Kentucky.
That's so sad that you seem surrounded by religion so much, I think I could count on one hand the amount of people of my generation that were ever religious that are friends of mine. The norm in the UK is to be athiest as far as I'm aware.
Also from what I've seen the candidates for the US election seem quite shocking, I feel sorry for politics. I remeber being so wound up that here in the UK we even allow religious people to get anywhere near politics. Great videos btw :)
Thanks for answering my question. I live very close to roughly 8 churches, and in my 13 years of being a working stiff, I've only came across 2 people I know who are atheist. It's always been a challenge to 'hide' my atheism as a professional, as it's been the reason I've been fired before, and the reason I've been alienated to the point of quitting before. Most of the people I know are devout christian. The internet is a respite from being forced to be what I am not. Keep up the good work.
my take on religion is that it's a life long imaginary hostage negotiation with a psychotic figure that wants you to love them unconditionally & get as many people as to love them as well, or eventually you'll get a bullet to the head, I don't hate religious people I just feel like they have stockholm syndrome.
I remember a girl told me, when I said I was an atheist, with such pleasure and excitement in her eyes that I would burn in hell for eternity. That sticks with me.
@James1803 Quote from Wil Anderson (Australian comedian and atheist): 'For an atheist, a Christian threatening you with Hell is kind of like a hippy threatening to punch you in your aura.' :)
@James1803 That's sick, man; sorry you were treated like that. I've been dumped because of it and I remember a girl cursing me out in 3rd grade. I think to some Christians, we're less than human.
I found this video related to Obama's religious views "Barack Obama Versus Fundamentalism & Religious Sectarianism". Damn, I miss that guy, too bad he couldn't be our president.
I guess my question "Why is the US more religious than the other western industrialised nation?" wasn't particularly easy to answer but thanks for including it.
@MrBlackatheist I didn't, and I'm a huge Ron Paul fan. And I'm not American, I just want the USA to stop fucking around, just like your military does. Listen to those guys talk and you know enough.
"Riding Ron Paul dick"? Very poor choice of words.
If I may ask another question(s): What are your views on us inhabiting a new "Earth"? Should we only allow people with an IQ above "God did it"? Should we ban any, and all Religion from occurring?
