I have little interest after it gets to the final four, usually by that time the best performers have been eliminated and it is no longer worth watching, with the exception of the insane loss of Adam Lambert in the final to Chris...God, I can't even remember his name that is how "Great" he turned out to be.
I love how powerful and controlled her voice is. She's a incredible singer. She's someone you can listen to for hours. I wish I started watching Idol in season 6 instead of season 7 because I know I would have loved that season with her on there. She's awesome. I think she's better than all of the winners and everyone I can remember since season 7.

Melinda, in my opinion is up there with Ella & Sarah Vaughan in the jazz genre. There are very few transcendent performers that have appeared on this show. VERY few. Melinda's obviously one of them. I mean, holy God...she takes a song from a musical from the 30's, decides to take on R&B legend Chaka Khan's version, and turns in a jaw-dropping performance, positively bleeding with passion and soul.
Clay Aiken made the hair on my arms stand up a couple times during his run on Season 2, and it hadn't happened again...until Melinda. Just...wow.
In AI history, 9 seasons, there have been less than a dozen performances that make you say "oh my gosh wow!" This MFV could be the greatest performances of all time in AI. This song brought MD into prominence.

Everytime I think back to the show & how she didn't win I feel sore.... but then, I thought that Elliot Yamin was great & he didn't get to win either ! Thanks for posting this ... as others have stated it is without exception the best AI performance.

I listen to Milenda when i need cheering up. This is the best performance and singer American Idol has ever had. Deep, rich and filled with soul.

There are very few transcendent performers that have appeared on this show. VERY few. Melinda's obviously one of them. I mean, holy God...she takes a song from a musical from the 30's, decides to take on R&B legend Chaka Khan's version, and turns in a jaw-dropping performance, positively bleeding with passion and soul.
Clay Aiken made the hair on my arms stand up a couple times during his run on Season 2, and it hadn't happened again...until Melinda. Just...wow.

In AI history, 9 seasons, there have been less than a dozen performances that make you say "oh my gosh wow!" This MFV could be the greatest performances of all time in AI. This song brought MD into prominence.

How can any reasonable person dislike this performance. This was not only the BEST American Idol performance ever, but the best rendition of this song ever. And there have been some greats that have done this song...
