  • Palo de Mayo is not a Nicaraguan dance; but, GARIFUNA CULTURE. Gariruna are the descendants of the slaves that the English brought to the Caribbean (19th cent). The Garifuna took over what was one the Miskitia Coast of Central America. There are very few miskito Indians left, or any of their culture, in the Eastern Coasts of Central America. The Palo de Mayo dance was a poor choice as a dance representing Nicaraguan culture.

  • @nicanote1 i heard that Graifuna Music was Punta which is big in Honduras and Belize and by the Garifuna Communities of Orinoco Nicaragua . but Palo de Mayo from what i hear was the music of the English Speaking Creole people of the Atlantic coats who are mixed with Miskito as well . and i heard that the Miskito People and Culture still have a big presence on the Atlanic coast especially in Bilwi .
