This entire aesthetic began in Japan in the late 70s with Kansi Yamamoto, if anything Owens and Julius follow that lineage. By the way Owens is a fab designer now, but in 2003 he was like a student, just like you!
@vandykv You mean Kansai, but I still don't see the connection, yes he was rock n roll but it has nothing to do with Rick Owens, maybe just in androgyny but that is very broad. And I am talking specifically about Julius, it's nothing but an Asian rip off of Rick Owens; there is nothing original here at all.
@paradigmshift7 This collection is from 2011, and they CLEARLY ripped what Rick Owens has been doing before that off, look at the collections leading up to it. Rick Owens comes up with better clothes/ shows and is cleaner and more luxurious. Julius tends to look too middle of the road androgyny/ Rick Owens knock off for no reason.
@rvggarcon I think you're delusional, there is no connection. Aesthetic of both lines is similar, but still think Julius is edgier (and superior). Look 2009 a/w "perfecto" jacket, Rick's is just a "good" perfecto, Julius did their own thing rounding off the collar and lapels, ditched the epaulettes, and made it look more raw and grimy (good). The last thing I saw Rick put out that actually impressed was Exploder line, after that... ZzzzZz Rick TRIES to rip Julius, get it right.

Again how do you rip off something that existed BEFORE you? Julius has no direction? They are paving the road that Rick walks along sir, only his creations are rather a diluted concoction. Julius precedes Rick Owens, therefore Owens follows Julius, you cannot argue that logic nor my arguments, and so even your wit is failing you. Julius still copies what he has done before in this collection. I see what kind of person you are, we're just different people. I'm into minimalism. Julius doesn't do it for me, it's too middle of the road, middle of the road is probably the best thing to describe it as, we've seen all this before in other recent collections, nothing new.

Julius has a lot of remarkable pieces in my book, recently Neurbanvolker/Goth_ik, whereas Rick has never surprised me. Why? Because I've seen Julius do it before (and better). If you want to talk about middle of the road, why would Rick put out a Perfecto (Strutter) and not update it?

Julius existed before Rick Owens -- It's the other way around. And IMHO,present day, Julius is cut better and edgier than Rick is.
