  • I don't understand something. Why does it seem that deaf people are highly concerned with what 'hearing people' think? It's like there's a culture war or something, when nobody I know talks trash about 'the deafs'.

In fact I rarely ever see anyone signing or know any deaf people in real life. Where are they hiding? And why does it seem they either have a grudge against hearing people, or they think we hearing people see them as 'retards'?

I don't, nobody I know does, so what gives?

  • @RandomShellAccount

It is sort of like a culture war, since hearing people are always trying to "cure" deafness. Did you know that 95% of the children who are born deaf, their parents are hearing? The parents usually know nothing about deaf culture, seeing deafness as a disability, the children are implanted with a cochlear implant and taught to speak. They grow up usually not learning sign language. Now sign language is dwindling, thats probably why you dont see many deaf people using sign.

  • this is better... those who are interesting to watching video... that was amazing and funny..

  • The counselor on a deaf community Deafornot dot c om said that "People who may be defined as clinically deaf (unable to hear spoken language) may or may not be members of the Deaf community."

  • signing may suck to u but it is very usefull

  • I guess then I'm like Kauboy84, the Negator hater.

I'm bitter about the deaf comminity and sign language doesn't help the situation.

In HS we played the Deaf School every year! lol Hahahah! Totally not fair! Blow out! everytime! Not a chance.

Our football team in the 12 years in that system never got within 30 points of the Deaf School. They were bigger, tougher, crazier. and a whole lot better. The huddle? pfft suree

  • The signing pisses me off cause it will be another language of three years study that I won't f'n get.

So Im petty and vindictive, those are ma good traits.!

  • bom legal

  • niice commerical! wow.. i see below that people are actually sad they are Deaf. come on! cherish your culture and heritage. I am Deaf, sign ASL and came from a Deaf family. One thing i have learned is that if you dont accept yourself and love your culture, then how would you expect other people Hearing or Deaf to accept you?

  • hahaha " its not polite to singe with your hands full" rofl!!! great!!!

  • I grew up with an hearing family, went to a deaf school but didn't like it, then moved back to hearing schools. I treid making some freinds but they didnt like me cuz of my hearing. the whole school was behind my back for my deafness. I didn't know that. until someone told me abt it. for hearing ppl: how would you feel if you were deaf, having to go thru these things, and ppl were judging you for no reason. think abt that. being deaf or not, we're normal ppl.

  • GO DEAF PPL!! i'm a 14 yr old deaf grl.. i'm rly proud of the pespsiEnabled to show that. but i was wondering why they didnt show it on the superbowl. really being deaf isn't the problem, its a part of us having to deal with it. all you heaing ppl doesn't know what it's like to go thru this. sometimes i wish i was hearing sometimes i dont. but its a part of me i have to deal with. I take speech thearpy.

and i talk very good like a hearing person. I have CI and hearing aid to help me hear.

  • how it dumb?

  • He did..........

  • Butterflyhazel70...You didnt't miss it. The companies decided not to showed them on television for thier own reason. However, I caught the news station being at the Deaf Club stating that it was an opportunity, great challenge and a chance to show the deaf community that they are simply human. I wished it was televised as well. :-)

  • Sad...those who say "dumbass, super retarded commercial, sucks" are those who can't see beyond reality. Probably on a ego trip, stoned or just simply self defensive. Truly sad to see those who doesn't get it at all.(tsk tsk) Even though!...I know the commercial was friggin long however I get thier point. Do You?

  • YES The GIANTS really SHUT the PATRIOTS UPPPP!!!! WOO HOOO!!! SORRY i m not the GIANTS FAN neither PATRIOTS but can't have them 19-0

  • Come on you guys! Appreciate what DEAF try to succeed in humor or good plain video. That shows you tried!

  • LOL! Great 2 know DEAF can succeed by trying. NO matter how good or bad we do in videos. Keep Trying! Smile

  • WATTTTT

  • new york sucks yankees and giants... bostons the best i dont care if they won the superbowl that was lucky

  • Why deaf men old Fashon??? normal and old clothing not as poplure new fashion?

  • What men act like as sissy is out beep.

  • this commercial dosen't suck...its just too long

    and new york won bitches....lol

  • I've seen morning news reports that were more exciting than this.

  • really bored ads could you guy give me 4;21 back??

  • all of u who think this commercial is a dumbass, it's just cuz u don't understand what they are saying.

  • Dumbass commercial? You mean you don't understand it?

  • shut up. it's a great commerical. u dont understand it? which means ur dumbass!

  • Did I read Racist? We are all the same...we don't point fingers at someone saying or thinking such thing...we just simply keep it ourselves and move on rather than pointing fingers, yelling and get angry. Move on...why complain? By the way the commercial is neat since just about everyone from all kinds of backgrounds are everywhere except us standing behind all the angry yelling people looking for satisfaction for themselves.

  • fuck u. ur dumbass!

  • I can't remember where I saw the previews of the commercials (or talking about showing the deaf pepsi commercial) where the guy beeps the horn and everyone in the neighbor hood turns on their lights. All but one didn't so that obvious the deaf person lived there.. DId they ever show that commerical on superbowl. Most of my friends looked for it and didn't see it.. Did we miss it??

  • yeah, I was eager and looking forward to see that ad but it didn't show up. I wonder why!!! I think the TV station don't want Deaf ad to put on TV.. That's my opinion. TV Station Staffs are very rude.

  • It was during the pre-game!

  • fuck gally! some white deafs and some white hearings are racist at gally!

  • I never like that guy, more lip reading than sign??

  • comment the sic commercials

support the sic thank you -KingPinn

  • You know, it's rude to talk with your hands full...

  • talking with your hands full... i never thought id hear, uh, read someone make that joke

  • as someone who is hearing and very curious about the deaf community, i must say..I LOVED THE HELL OUT OF THESE COMMERCIALS. Hearing people need to be exposed to deaf people more. This is a great way. The language is so beautiful and expressive. I value this. Thank you PepsiCo!

  • I liked the other ones better. :(

  • heh i know what all he said without the subtitles.

guess what 9 years of sign language does for you when you're still hearing :D

  • yep

  • These are pretty good lol

  • I'm such a dumbass, didn't realize that it was literally deaf comedy. Still funny and the body language was perfect, great job.

  • funny i so agree with stormspinner1 i mean it is so funny

  • It isn't polite to talk with your hands full: gotta love it. :) BRAVO!

    *Storm* in Texas

  • I <3 Keith Wann.

  • lol its not polite to talk with your hands full

  • I saw that coming a mile away, but it's still funny.

  • I LOVE THESE SPOTS!! As a hearing viewer, I think we need to see more of these spots in mainstream media. I think this is the most beautiful language we, as humans, have. I am signing impaired, but the beauty of the language really inspires me to learn.

  • I liked these spots. :)

    *Storm*

  • how cool, watch his facial expressions!!!!!!!!!! he looks like jerry sienfeld lol

  • Facial expression is important to ASL :o)

  • ok LUV this, its freakin hilarious! these dudes know how smack talk in sign language! cuz it made me lol, :) they need more videos like htis one, except without the silence rock on Pat's youll win, NY SUCKS< PATS ROCK OUT LOUD!

  • Hahaha new york won! u sucks!

  • aweeeesome!

  • the deaf community is AWESOME

  • i don't see how you can have a heated argument, where people usually get loud and interrupt, when it takes you half a minute to "say" one sentence.

  • It takes me about 3-5 seconds to sign a full sentence

And it is perfectly possible to have a fight, an argument, and even "talking trash" in ASL. The signs are usually "louder", meaning that they are larger and more aggressive.

  • These guys slow it down A LOT. Most true users of ASL do it very quickly and in an abbreviated way... This commercial had to keep it slow to try to keep listeners who don't use/know sign language up to speed.

  • It is just a difference in languages. We have English sentences that it takes a natural signer ONE SIGN to sum up.

  • hmm, interesting, I looked up 'invention of the football huddle', the result was Herb McCracken, deceased at the age of 95 in year 1995. It was said that he invented the huddle.

Then I put "Paul Hubbard" in quotes, he was a college football player in 1985.

Then I added the word, huddle to Paul Hubbard, and I did find what was said in the video, it says it was invented by Paul Hubbard in 1894 from Gallaudet.

Some one needs to straighten out the McCracken story,as date lines shows that Paul is it

  • GO NY GIANT

  • I love this!!! I hope a lot of ppl tune in to the pre-game so they can see this as well. Both actors do very well in it. Does either one travel? I am a sign language interpreter and I live in a town with a Deaf school and a very VERY strong Deaf Community. Way to Go!!! Good Job!!

  • that's all soo funny i love it =]

    and um no go giants

  • great vid for the sign-impaired! posted by a Hearrie

  • no, it is not sign-impaired. Whateva! Some people know sign language and they are good!

  • some hearing people that have posted here and on the Pepesi Super bowl ad site who don't sign and are just miserable. I have seen posts that called Deaf names, same kind who do racist posts on AOL. I hear, sign, and have Deaf friends. There are different philosophies on different cultures interacting. Some Deaf do not acknowledge PSL, Signed English. It's Deaf culture, and I have no right to impose my own needs. Some hearing folks need to open their minds, though. Just my opinion, though.

  • woohooo go pats greatest team in history going 19 and 0 baby.
