i put the newspaper on my nail first then used a q-tip soaked in alcohol on top of the paper and it worked out perfect... kind of like those temporary tattoos

@sunshinebabys I keep my nails moisturized, lots of lotion & cuticle oil & I also take a biotin supplement – check out my Nail Maintenance vid in the Tips & Trick playlist for my full routine. I do occasionally get a tear or break but you can check out my tutorial on silk wrap patching for how I save those nails =) I do "Naked Nails" posts on my blog every month or so where I talk more about like all the specific products I'm currently using.

I did the newpaper print on my nails before and Ive watched other turorials for it. Instead of putting your finger in the rubbing alcohol you can put the piece of newspaper in it and I think it might come out better. Im not sure because I never tried putting my finger in the alcohol thats something new for me but its just a tip.

To make the newspaper nails to stand out more just dip the newspaper writing you selected into the rubbing alocohal for about 15 seconds or 10 then place it on your nails and press it down for 10 seconds

I've been watching videos for the same nail look but done with water instead of alcohol. Have you tried this manicure with water? You just soak, then press it onto nail and wait 45 sec. Then apply topcoat. No rubbing off sticky/bumpy stuff!

@Sugarlandnatural the polish doesn't really matter - you could probably even do it on a bare nail although I haven't tried it. You just have to use a good amount of alcohol & press very firmly on the design =)

i think the reason why the patterns aren't transferring well is bcs you take too little time pressing down on the news paper, and perhaps you need a little more alcohol.when i want to create the newspaper pattern on my nails, i leave my finger in alcohol for around 10 secs and i press the newspaper to my nail for another 10+ secs & i sometimes try to add a few more drops of alcohol on top of my nail with the newspaper just to make sure the newspaper's ink REALLY transfers to my own nails :)

for me personally, i usually have a cottonball dipped in the alcohol and have the newspaper cutting on my finger, that way when the alcohol touches the newspaper all of the ink will be transferred.

What if you printed words out backwards on an inkjet printer? Then they would appear correctly on your nails (like a t-shirt transfer), but would the ink from the printer work the same as the newsprint? Don't have a printer set up or I would try it myself. ^.^

I did this a few weeks ago with sheet music, and it turned out great! Everyone on my nail Tumblr loved it.You actually don't have to use newspaper, for me regular printed paper turns out nicer. The thing I also did which I feel like made a big difference, is I patted some more alcohol on to the back of the paper when it was on my nail in order to get the paper soaked through. I haven't directly compared the effect of adding that step or not, but I have a hunch it really helps!

U need to put some more alchohole on a cotton ball or pad or the roll that u like to use then instead of applying the pressure with ur finger u do it with that I got perfect news paper nails on my first try by doing this method and I think it'll really work for you also don't rub around like u did in this video just apply the even pressure right away!

lighter background colors makes the top "design" more "readable" and instead of dipping the nail on the alcohol, try dipping the paper instead...i tried so many ways to do this and this way has been the best one for me....also use a cotton pad soaked in alcohol and press it while the newspaper is soaked for more than 15 seconds

I quite like the 'patchy' effect of the way you've done it. Personally I think it leaves areas that could be further enbellished with gems etc. Don't be so hard on yourself - these things are just 'Happy accidents' that can often send you in another creative direction. xx

This was an amazing idea! :3 I've done the plain backwards letters on my nails a couple of times. If you place like a drop or rub a little bit of alcohol on the newspaper instead of dipping your whole nail, I've found it ends up with a bolder transfer. :) Try it out. Haha.

it helps alot to do this: after you wet the nail and put the newspaper on it, put a drop on the newspaper when it's on your nail and press down

I'd suggest putting the newspaper into the alcohol instead of your nail. Also, paint your nail first and wait until the nail varnish is almost dry and then put the newspaper onto it. I tried it that way and it worked out perfectly :-)

What I've learned with doing newspaper nails is that if I hold my nail in the alcohol at least 15 seconds and hold the print down for at least 15 seconds the print kind of transfers better...also while the paper is down I re-wet it a little bit with the alcohol it has also helped with the transfer........also the thicker the paper is the more "wet" the print needs to be
