No, I obviously have preservation preferences different from yours and offer a viable need and reason for it! BTW: More and more untouched "Original" judging classes are emerging in the collector world and at a premium I should add.
Preservation First ... restoration as a last resort! Look at that original engine paint. It's wonderful. If everyone with a rattle can mentality must for the sake of it, Paint, ... then where shall the "calibrator" or "meniscus" standard for original come from?
BTW: You can now high temp, matte finish, clear coat original paint to preserve it, chips and all.
Perhaps the owner does not want to rape and blunder an excellent original existing example of OEM engine bay with original engine paint and attached items. But the guy talking completely misses this.
@antaresplus Excuuuuuseee me! A detailed engine compartment increases the reliability of the mechanicals, and is an important component in judged auto shows. (the guy talking)
@cheddyrod Hey, Chester! I agree..the best thing since switching from 6 to 12 volts! The colors on this car are definitely not the run of the mill...very upscale! Thanks! :) Jack
I prefer the 1956 Buick, but this isn't bad. My grandparents were Buick people. They drove everything from 56-57 Buick to a 1971, maybe a 72 Buick LeSabre. I love the wrap around rear window. Nice. I love the colour combination.
@Seattlecarnut Hey, Jason! I think the three piece rear window is the most distinctive part of the car! The 56 would be my choice too...a little less decorated, a little less "heavy" looking. Buick really was great at attracting a loyal ownership. When growing up, the neighbor across the street was a Buick mechanic...that's all he drove..he drove the old ones! Thanks! :) Jack
@Seattlecarnut Hey, Jason! The 56 is just more refined than the 55 in my opinion...the principal of the high school drove a brand new 56 Buick Century hardtop...black! Very cool! Thanks! :) Jack

No, you're still missing the point here.

The introduction of alternators sure cured a lot of problems. Wonderful colors inside and out.

@raconter1 I like the 56 grille. It makes the front end (in my personal opinion) more attractive than either the 57, the 58 or the 59 Buick.

@raconter1 I agree. I've never seen a 56 Buick in person, but I've seen plenty of pics and I've seen some on YouTube.
