  • its good but bug animation is very poor.. in original he has many little legs

  • where'es part2?

  • I love the music and how you picked the best part of the book, the animation is gorgeous, and you took care of small details such as the portrait. A great impulse to start reading Kafka, but be careful, you might become addicted to him....

  • this book was sooooooooo goooodd. omg thnx kafka. does any one else like saying his last name except me?

  • perfect

  • Where is the part 2

  • Good story, read it last semester in World Lit.

  • thumbs up if the ricky gervias show brought u here :)

  • i had to do this play at gcse btec but we all found it quite difficult. not many people understood and for our first ever script i think it was a bit of a silly choice

  • Wonderful, haunting, brilliant, beautiful...

  • Oh my God. The artistic direction of this film is phenomenal!

  • Thumps up if you think this type of art is great and shouldn't be ruined by the stupid sci-fi characters

  • Philosophy that will never die ...! Is the philosophy of life! Each of us is a bug...

  • If a bug fell out of my sons room I would be screaming that A GIANT FUCKING BUG ATE MY SON.

Who the fuck would think that their son turned into a beetle?

  • But did you hear about Blue Zoltan getting fired?

  • don't you just hate it when you wake up and have become a monstrous vermin?

  • Very well done, sir. Thank you for that.

  • Gregor looks like something out of "Starship Troopers" XD

  • for some reason when I read the metamorphosis I thought that Gregor was a centipede ... lol

  • @warmvanillasugar1 haha so did i actually up until near the end when the cleaning lady calls him a little dung beetle or something along those lines anyway.

  • Nicely done, is part 2 coming anytime soon?

  • "I hope it's not that nasty bug that's going around." Haha. Irony.

  • @LesMis931 There are many nasty bugs going arround that make poeple sick and tierd being in the working enviroment.............

The father actor : Karl-Heinz Teuber

  • What animation did u use? Will there b more parts

  • What animation did u use?

  • i get a feeling that Tim Burton should be directing this movie

  • @spazfall right he really should

  • how cruel =[ but that's all part of the story i suppose

  • So,,,, Saaaaad ;(

  • This is exactly how I imagined the novel.

  • as usual, the book was better. why hasnt anyone tried to make a descent top not film/cartoon out of this?

  • This story remindes me about people getting mental disordered and the family don't have a clue what's happening. Have you ever thought about how it would be if one of your family members would become mentaly ill and act like another person one day?

  • @LiliumXIV You are totaly right. ... This is a story from Franz Kafka.

I am the voice actor , playing the Father. Please check out my YouTube

and please watch the other characters. Good luck to you !

    Thank you ! Karl-Heinz Teuber

  • @KarlHeinzTeuber what happens in the end of this book

  • @KarlHeinzTeuber its based on a story by Kafka but the thing strated differently in the book Gregor was able to talk... but even if the movie is short and not very like what happen in the reel bok, i liked it. i love how the characther have been made, they kinda look like how i've imagine them in the book...great little movie thanks

    Karl

  • Mrs. Samsa: "He's not feelin' well... oh, I hope it's not that nasty bug that's goin' around...."

  • Are there any additional parts? If so, what are they titled? For example, the first one is titled 'The Metamorphosis: Part I'.

  • Deeply disturbing! (althought movie itself was interesting) but why the hell would a english teacher make her childeren read such a book? Frankly, I might be afraid to fall asleep now :P

  • @emiliomendez6612

children probably don't get it but i can understand the teachers that want their pupils to read it... it's a great book.

  • @emiliomendez6612 I agree. In fact I found it extremely hard to read through the entire story because the impact of the first line was so huge it as a complete detraction from everything else. It still surprises me how little people comment on the horror (as opposed to the absurdity/surrealism) aspect of it.

  • Meet Gregor Samsa.....a man whose life is about to change......he has just crossed over into the Twilight Zone!!!

  • Wow I just happened to come upon this short clip and I have to say I was delighted to see that someone had made a short animation! I read the book in highschool last year and although it cunfused me at times with the reactions of the family and him being a bug it was a great story. I have to say I enjoyed the movie too! I really wish there was a part two!

  • thank you for the upload. Enjoyed the video. We are studying this story in class. Poor Gregor.

  • esta buena....!!!

  • Thank You !!!!

    Karl-Heinz Teuber

  • this is really good. :) Great job :)

  • excellent

  • i have to make a presentation in school about this book. and this video is going to be the perfect thing to show to my class. thank's!! :)

  • We did this video years ago. I played the Father........Charlie Ramos the director, moved away from here and I do not know his new address. Please try to contact him through IMDB or GOOGLE. Best wisches KHT

  • where is part 2, what is the book about?

  • Gregor's familt is horrible. They are far less human than what Gregor has become.

THEY are the real vermin, not he.

  • That's the Real metamorphosis, not Gregor's

  • @ReverendSyn I think that's what the story is suppossed to imply.

  • @ReverendSyn I would go one step further. Kafka intended to show that his society objectified and dehumanized people by its insistence that each person was but a tool for labour, an asset, not an individual. And if you lose your ability to work, you are useless; you are equivalent to an insect. Don't blame Gregor's family, blame society.

  • @4fitter27

I don't think Kafka was trying to blame anybody. With Kafka, the main character is inevitably the guilty party. The absurd laws that society, government and nature lay down for the individual are taken as infallible. In this way, the story stays truer to real life (in a sense).

  • @4fitter27 Wow, that is a really Marxist interpretation. Damn interesting, but pretty strong. I wonder what Kafka's background/thoughts were on the subject...

  • @Wuzupshamu I agree that was probably too strong, but consider this: Kafka was the eldest of six children. To help pay the bills, he worked as an insurance officer, a job which he hated but performed diligently. Sound familiar? In 1912 (The year Metamorphoses was written), he developed tuberculosis, requiring him to take frequent breaks from his work. We can only speculate as to how his family felt about this.... There is definitely more than one interpretation to this story, though.

  • @4fitter27 No, I definitely enjoyed your interpretation. Better than the one I was given in Lit class a few years ago. The background info about Kafka's life makes it even more interesting. I had never really considered that, but when put that way... Hmm. I think I'll do some freestyle reading/research on this now. You've piqued my interest. : )

    Peace from across the internet.

  • @Wuzupshamu Glad to hear it. Funnily enough, the interpretation I put forth was based on the one I was taught in my Lit class a few months ago. The info on Kafka's life is key though, there are undoubtedly autobiographical elements to his stories. I have to confess, though, I found that info on wikipedia haha.

  • @4fitter27 Actually He was the eldest of 4 children. First came Franz, then two brothers that died in infancy and then three surviving sisters.

  • @ReverendSyn dude, wtf

  • That was an odd adaption

  • I think this is a brilliant piece of animation. Too bad a second part was never made, but this is good enough as a stand alone for me. Beautiful music aswell!

    x

  • where is part 2?

  • I am sorry to say that part 2 was never done. I had intended to make this a 15 minute film but due to lack of time and money..it never happened. the production company moved to galicia and began working on animated tv series.

As far as the music, the composer´s name is Jaume Carreras. I lost touch with him a few years back but I am sure he is doing great things in Barcelona.

Karl!..thank you for posting it. I hope all is well with you.

    Charlie

  • please go to Charlie Ramos FACEBOOK

    he is the director.

    good luck Karl-Heinz Teuber

  • Das Buch hat mir sehr gefallen.

  • I am so sorry, I can not help you. Please find Charlie Ramos the director on the internet ( IMDB ) because we did this movie more than 10 years ago and I do not know where he is living right now. I played the father

    Karl-Heinz Teuber Happy 2009

  • Where is the rest?

  • This 2000 animation is the work of Charlie Ramos and as far as I know is without follow-up. Karl provided the voice of Herr Samsa. Charlie Ramos himself has posted this take on Kafka's novella over at Spike.

  • omg who plays the music in the beginning??? it's so beautiful! please i need to know!

  • I am so glad that you found KAFKA again on youtube.....Charlie Ramos is the director and I played the father.

    Happy New Year, Karl-Heinz Teuber

  • i'm so glad i found this after watching it on atom films so long ago.

  • really outstanding seriously. I always felt sad for the story, and this was just perfect to watch. You did a great job

  • Thank yo so very much . I am glad we made you happy. This short film was done many years ago, by Charlie Ramos.

I played the father, Hapy Holidays

    Karl-Heinz Teuber

  • Have you completed the rest of the story? I can't find any other parts of your wonderfully animated version...

  • This is the work of Charlie Ramos and as far as I know is without follow-up. Indeed, the short, for which Karl provided the voice of Herr Samsa, looks to be featured "as is" in the upcoming Annecy09 International Animated Film Festival in France. A brief filmography of Ramos appears on IMDb.

  • love the imagery presented the environment, as well as the symbolism that each character made evident through their facial expressions, attire, and tone of voice. good stuff!

  • wow...nice. i liked it alot

  • I am glad we made you happy.

Karl-Heinz Teuber (Mr. Samsa, the Father)

  • that was awsom!
