I love this song , its my favourite of all welsh songs , we used to sing it in our school and in the millennium stadium on rare occasion, and i still remember it all. This song means so much to me :)
I ask not for ease and riches Nor earth's jewels for my part But I have the best of wishes For a pure and honest heart. Chorus Oh, pure heart so true and tender Fairer than the lilies white The pure heart alone can render Songs of joy both day and night. DON'T KNOW THE REST IN ENGLISH BUT VERY VERY GOOD I WOULD LOVE TO PLAY THE HARP
hmmph lol, it means pure heart but not 100% theres diffrent types, but the english lyrics are not 100% correct ,and will never even be as unique as the welsh lyrics
Well that's pretty obvious isn't it? No translation from the original can be 100% correct. Shakespeare translated into Welsh would not be 100% correct either.
Sweetly sung and beautifully played. I only know this melody from the film HOW GREEN WAS MY VALLEY and enjoyed hearing a gentler version (although I loved the Welsh choirsters in the film too). Thank you!

When I was a child, we used to holiday in Rhyl, and I remember Rhyl Silver Band playing this each Sunday evening. Good times!

We used to sing this on route marches. Second battalion SWB, We never sand this well and we didn't have a harp.
One guy had a fabulous tenor voice. He was from Abergavenny.
