I worked on a video specially dedicated to my very very close friend and end up getting the audio disabled and that friend was seeing me freak out cuz of the audio. He was really upset from it, same for me. :(
It's not YouTube's fault that copyrighted audio is pulled from your videos. If you want to blame someone, blame the greedy music industry. I think it's silly that they get so worked up. It's good publicity for their artists and besides we all know the audio quality on YouTube is not that great. It's not like someone was going to buy a CD and changed their mind because they heard a small percentage of the CD on a YouTube clip.

This is getting absurd. My son made a really cute little movie with pictures of him and his girlfriend and used a song which is one of her favorites. He didn't even use the whole song. The video was uploaded and published. He checked the link, everything looked good, so he shared it with Facebook for her to see and bam.....no sound.

why does Youtube post full names of people without there permission and when flagging them they seem to create a new search link instead of deleting it....i've seen nice peoples names defamed by this site so becarefull check your own name on google search link it might be used on youtube and if it is they will never take it down !!!

Best way to copyright something on the cheap... copy your music/video to a CD then put it in sealed envelope, send it to yourself by registered mail. Keep all the receipts for registration at the post office and even the cash receipt with dates all intact etc. When you get your item put it somewhere safe and DON'T open it.
If you think about an artist taking time to write, sing and produce a song which may cost him/her considerable time and money then someone comes along and steals it for their video, it's not fair, is it? Most video producing software now has 'royalty free' music for you to put on your video, if not do a google search and get some, there's lots out there for free with no restrictions. Don't steal other's music to sell your video! The video isn't good if you need pop music to sell it!
There's this amazing amv maker, "pwilliard" here on youtube. He made some of the best amv's i've ever seen. His account was deleted by Youtube recently... there was a disclaimer in every single one of his videos. Youtube is SO STUPID right now.
I hate to break it to ya, but it's not just YouTube. Believe me, I tried. I've tried so many sites, and they all ended up busting my vids just because of the copywright problems. It seems there are two ways to "keep" the music, one is using the dispute claim, and the other is "chimpmunking" the music. I'm thinking of trying the latter, but I don't know if it'll work. @TriforceWarrior with your video editor,,,you can adulterate the audio. raise the pitch half or full tone, add delay effects, etc. This works 80% of the time. (particularly for OLDER music) However, I have tried almost everything on an EAGLES music video and they catch it ALL the time. the only thing would to put huge echo effects on or raise the pitch TWO tones,,,,that completly ruins the audio

My video was first muted, then disabled 3 days later for copyright claims by a corporation called "Zoo_Land Music"!
The song was "Stamp on the Ground" by Italobrothers. It had various clips of anime dancing scenes. I made it for two friends on their birthday.
The sad part is, there are other videos on Youtube with the same song and content that is not disabled or muted. Why is my video so different? I gave credit to the artists of the song and anime creators.
I worked 8 hours on a video only for the audio to be disabled. What's worse is, it didn't say which song was in violation so I have no way to fix or change it. I hope a new video site comes soon.

@pyroninja27 i don't care what they do... they take off music and people aren't liscened to use it without paying for it. it's not a perfect world but atleast the people uploading music illeagally get what they deserve. i highly doubt they would steal and if they would then get away with it but that's not the point. the point is that people know the risks and that it'll most likely be taken off. that's why if people want music, there is music availabe with liscened agreement.

I have a video on YouTube that was posted today, of me on a montage on Combat Arms. And it took me about 4-5 days to create the montage. About 6-7 hours to edit. And about 15 minutes to sync the audio with the music to make it a clear shot. But then I get this "Your audio has been disabled becuase it's not authorized by WMG." And I'm like, "WHAT?!" It took me SO LONG! And I couldn't wait to post it on YouTube. And I put the name of the song and everything! I was so depressed after seeing that.

Personally there is a lot of music that i find and buy from seeing/heaing it on youtube, many of whom i would have never heard of if NOT for youtube. I do not listen to the radio andI do not have cable TV. If not for Internet I would never find most of the stuff I buy. I find it so STUPID these companies do this, I for one refuse to buy any music from companies that I find have muted/removed all their artist's music from youtube. So, their "plan" has the opposite effect than what they intend.

I think this copyright nonsense is stiffling the creativity of the users. I have seen some FANTASTIC people on here who do AMAZING video edits (such as funny edits or crossovers of two completly different movie, music videos etc) who have the potential to have a career in film editing, who can't practise their skills and get feedback since youtube won't let them post anything. Some of these people lose motivation and stop, and their wonderful skills are lost forever. Screw youtube.

And half of the creativity comes from music! I think YouTube should make it that at the end of the video or beginning of your clip, you label the music that you put in your video and the group it came from to make it a legal video.

Musicians are against allowing music on youtube; enjoy it while you can. Why do you have the right to put a song that isn't yours to a video you made or your family's vacation and put it on youtube servers for the world to see. It's one thing if it's for your friends and family's enjoyment in your own home. If you want music to a video make it yourself... oh wait you can't so you have to PAY someone for it.
The reason for allowing music on youtube is this is how people DISCOVER artists. I have a list as long as my arm of artists I discovered on youtube, who I would never otherwise have heard of or paid. And while we're on the subject of payment, I have ordered a stack of tracks on iTunes for those artists I had not heard of, including tracks that were not even on Youtube, and for the best performers I now keep my eyes peeled for their next concerts (I believe it's all called PAYING somone)...
...So youtube is effectively for free promoting those artists to people who don't know they exist. The audio quality on youtube is so bad you would not use it anyway as a track. Its a forum for discovering talent, not a copyright issue. As long as people reference who they're playing, so you can go out and buy the music, then it's all good.
I have no problem with sound clips. But you and I know that people use youtube for music and don't download. Just because you do doesn't mean everyone else does.
And how is it not a copyright issue? There are songs available for free on youtube that are copyrighted that aren't put up by artists but by "fans". How is being able to access every Metallica song or every U2 song considered "discovering bands"?
Well, firstly those who download cheap substitutes for tracks off youtube - you won't get money out of them anyway so nothing lost! Those who do have money and will pay it you will lose that custom. Ultimately, when you put a music track onto your video without permission from the artist, it is not you the artist is most worried about, because you aren't going to make any money or profit from doing that. It's YouTube they're worried about, as the more popular the video and the more hits it gets, the more money YouTube makes (per website hits etc). The artist can sue youtube but youtube can sue you, so to save a futile attempt in sueing a million people, they just disable the audio.
You just need one horrible overplayed irritating audio track its called dreamscape and put it on all your videos like everyone else on utube.I would love to see this song go away.

I got this as well. I only record game play videos, and parts of those are copyright because it includes the cut scenes from between fights. One being the intro Wow cut scene video when you first start a new character race.

@TriforceWarrior with your video editor,,,you can adulterate the audio. raise the pitch half or full tone, add delay effects, etc. This works 80% of the time. (particularly for OLDER music) However, I have tried almost everything on an EAGLES music video and they catch it ALL the time. the only thing would to put huge echo effects on or raise the pitch TWO tones,,,,that completly ruins the audio

My video was first muted, then disabled 3 days later for copyright claims by a corporation called "Zoo_Land Music"!
The song was "Stamp on the Ground" by Italobrothers. It had various clips of anime dancing scenes. I made it for two friends on their birthday.
The sad part is, there are other videos on Youtube with the same song and content that is not disabled or muted. Why is my video so different? I gave credit to the artists of the song and anime creators.
What more do I have to do?

I have a video on YouTube that was posted today, of me on a montage on Combat Arms. And it took me about 4-5 days to create the montage. About 6-7 hours to edit. And about 15 minutes to sync the audio with the music to make it a clear shot. But then I get this "Your audio has been disabled becuase it's not authorized by WMG." And I'm like, "WHAT?!" It took me SO LONG! And I couldn't wait to post it on YouTube. And I put the name of the song and everything! I was so depressed after seeing that.

Personally there is a lot of music that i find and buy from seeing/heaing it on youtube, many of whom i would have never heard of if NOT for youtube. I do not listen to the radio andI do not have cable TV. If not for Internet I would never find most of the stuff I buy. I find it so STUPID these companies do this, I for one refuse to buy any music from companies that I find have muted/removed all their artist's music from youtube. So, their "plan" has the opposite effect than what they intend.

I posted a video of me talking about a site called Gaia online and they muted my Video, there was no music, and only me talking.
They Screened my videos and muted all videos that even started with something like a song or something
If course I got it back also adding a nasty letter to them telling them how stupid and communistic they are for trying to mute my work, which is against my freedom of speech.

I think this copyright nonsense is stiffling the creativity of the users. I have seen some FANTASTIC people on here who do AMAZING video edits (such as funny edits or crossovers of two completly different movie, music videos etc) who have the potential to have a career in film editing, who can't practise their skills and get feedback since youtube won't let them post anything. Some of these people lose motivation and stop, and their wonderful skills are lost forever. Screw youtube.

And half of the creativity comes from music! Eg. If I post a vid with a Hans Zimmer audio track on it and it gets 5 million hits, do you think YouTube will be left alone - no, they would be open to litigation.

The reason for allowing music on youtube is this is how people DISCOVER artists. I have a list as long as my arm of artists I discovered on youtube, who I would never otherwise have heard of or paid. And while we're on the subject of payment, I have ordered a stack of tracks on iTunes for those artists I had not heard of, including tracks that were not even on Youtube, and for the best performers I now keep my eyes peeled for their next concerts (I believe it's all called PAYING somone)...

Ultimately, when you put a music track onto your video without permission from the artist, it is not you the artist is most worried about, because you aren't going to make any money or profit from doing that. It's YouTube they're worried about, as the more popular the video and the more hits it gets, the more money YouTube makes (per website hits etc). The artist can sue youtube but youtube can sue you, so to save a futile attempt in sueing a million people, they just disable the audio.

It´s a pity that Youtube don´t watch such videos to
understand us. Maybe that will have an end if they knew how we feel because of this injustice.

UMG/WMG sucks. I uploaded a video TODAY of Intro/Apocalypse Please by Muse. It got deleted automatically, which sucks, just like WMG/UMG. Don't buy their albums. Don't listen to their music. Just give up on them. They'll realize it sooner or later.

I got this as well. I only record game play videos, and parts of those are copyright because it includes the cut scenes from between fights. One being the intro Wow cut scene video when you first start a new character race.

they keep copyrighting my montages for music. and they all have background sounds. i dont why you would try to steal the music from a video that has random explosions and gunfire in it and people talking. fucking stupid asshole youtube. i tried searching for a site thats not so gaytarded and its sad that there really isnt any.

youtube's a dick. im tired of the copyrights and ive got my last account banned and suspended just becuz of the videos that i uploaded. now i just recieved a copyright from youtube today and this is my new account. im starting to hate youtube...

We uploaders actually ADVERTISE our favorite artist but we don't get any benefit from it except the great feeling when you have the knowledge that you're somehow helping your favorite artists.... i really don't get copyright. I mean, are we stealing or something? do we get money from youtube? Like, how is that even possible?!

copyright is soooo stupid. If you put the names of the songs/ artists in the discriptions, you should be able to keep the audio. It's like promoting it on youtube anyways, if people watch the video, people buy the song. I watch sooo many videos, and then buy the songs on iTunes.

What we should do in every video that we put a good song of we have to say at the beggining Warner brothers music group dont mute this or you suck and start threatening them at the start and the end of the video

I don't even post videos with decent music anymore thanks to the friggin' copyright junk... My last account got disabled with no warning to explanation! (Though I assume it was copyright infringement). It's so grrrrrrr!
