  • Your hair is nice in this video

  • :O!!!!!!!!!!

  • So does that mean, since I have oily skin, that I should always get oil-based face products?

  • @Ketchme17 No. You should stick to water based foundations etc because if you use oil based products, you are putting more oils on your skin! Understand?

  • @XLadyOX But he's saying not to combine oils with waters. If I used water based products, they wouldn't stay on my skin since my skin is oily (according to what he is saying).

  • @Ketchme17 No, you're missing the point -__-. He's talking about oily moisturizers and foundations, NOT SKIN. If people have oily skin, they should AVOID oily moisturizers, therefore oily foundations as well. You should stick to water base.

  • @mimirr14 Well, he was basing his point off of chemistry which says that oil and water doesn't mix. That would lead me to believe that water based foundations would not stay well on oily the skin.

  • @Ketchme17 He never mentioned to avoid it if you have oily skin. Besides, I'm sure everyone produces a certain level of oil, so it wouldn't make sense for him to be referring to skin types.

  • This makes so much sense and just like you said, I never thought about it. Thank you so much!

  • Thanks Wayne I'm shame to say that I am guilty of this. I combine my oil base moisturizer with water base foundation.

  • can you do a apartment tour? :) love the windows, know this isn´t make-up related but hey!

    Loving your tips <3

  • what are some good oil based foundations???

Thank you so much for drawing attention to this!

  • Thanks!

  • what if you have oily skin does a water base foundation work or last 16 hours like the bottle says... what kind of foundation should ppl use if they have oily skin.. water base foundation or what can people use to keep it on longer

  • @jrockercutie06 I have oily skin and i use a matte mousse foundation, works better for me then liquid/water base foundations, but thats just me.

  • please can u suggest me some nice primers I can use with occ foundations, that i am gonna use with a sponge/brush n not with an airbrush system.......please people thumbs up so wayne can notice it...

  • all your videos was very informative, i really like all your instructional make up videos, thank you much, your are very smart!

  • i learn something new from your every video!

  • Oh wow! I never thought of this! lol Thanks!!

  • You are so awesome!!! I'm watching all your videos lol I'm hooked on them :) keep up the good work

  • wow ur amazing!

  • how do you know if your moisturizer or foundation is oil or water based?

  • @angiefinn69 if oil is the first ingredient then it is an oil-based foundation. If water is the first ingredient then it is an water-based foundation.

  • @BoboMelone ok found out my moisturizer is water based. need now to find out if my foundation is the same thanks bobomelone

  • @angiefinn69 correction: i meant oil-based/ water-based moisturiser. But that is the same for foundations too :)

  • thank you so much for this video i cant believe how much it has helped i am guilty of everything you said not to do cleanse tone eye cream moisturise prime the foundation and wondered why my makeup looked good when i did it then 2 hours later it looked shocking thank you

  • youtube is finally good for something, thank you so much for your videos, i feel a bit silly to admit ive done sooo many of the things you've told us not to haha

  • At 0:21 I thought u said "that dumb people will finally understand.."

Lol i was a little offended until I realized what you actually said!

  • you look like david beckham <3

  • this was great. I never thought about this way. So so so simple, thanks a million. You just saved me tons of money and frustration. Thanks again. Really enjoy your male perspective on makeup :)

  • Great info! Thanks

  • I tried what you said, looked at what base my lotions and make ups are. Because I do have that problem at work, it starts running off and looking funny. I use Clinique washes, lotions, and treatments, and I use Make Up For Ever foundation, Clinique concealer and powder. But all of them are water based. And it still runs.. So I'm very confused. Those products cost A LOT and I don't want to spend so much again. Help me please!

  • So I have oily skin so would I just put primer and foundation or the moisturizer as well? Thanks for making these videos your so helpful

  • Check out the video when he talks about oily skin. Greetings from México :D

  • This is ingenious.

  • You look SO handsome!!! Really like your hair style today!!! <3

  • so does hairspray work?

  • Thankyou! I was going to get Yaby liquid foundations for my pro kit and didn't know if they needed a silicone based primer (they are silicone based), but you just told me! Thanks :D

  • brilliant.

  • this makes SO much sense! you're bloody brilliant, you know that?

  • wow, that makes so much sense. i have a oil based moisturizer that i put on before my water based foundation. who knew??

  • you're hot

  • @TheRexyawkwardkid Love the beard!!!

  • I LOVE YOU, omg this make sense now! thank you soooo much

  • I have learned so much from you ! Thank you for your amazing videos

  • Thank you so much for this video! A wealth of information.. I subscribed today. I am pleased with your professional, well put together videos, also you are so personable.

  • Goss, thank you so much. I've been wearing a water based primer and foundation on my dry skin, but this has all been going over a heavy moisturizer (i'm recoiling at the "essential oils" description as I read it now) and promptly melting off my face. Looks like it's time to change up that step!!! Thanks again. Your videos are indispensable.

  • a quick way of knowing weather your foundation is water or oil based is to put a small amount on our finger and try to rinse it with water, right? If it rinses it is water based, if not, oil based.

  • I am now officially going to Wayne's School of Makeup...your tips are on point. They make so much sense, things we makeup junkies never knew or thought of. Starting tomorrow, I will start class and view all your videos...10 a day. After that and with much practice...I will be a pro and ready to go apply at MAC as a MUA. All thanks to you...wish me luck!! I just adore you.

  • @scarlet0997 I am doing the same!! Good luck! :D And thanks to him ive learned so much already and i barely found him today!

  • I love you, WAYNE! You keep your videos short, simple, yet to the point! I could watch your videos all day.....I actually do! Keep up the GREAT work!!!

  • Love how your videos are short, but so helpful and full of information! :)

  • love u i always had thought it was kinda weird how much products go on the face before ur makeup did but still did cause everyone said too thank you thank you thank you

  • ahhhh ur so smart

  • I'm so happy to have found you! I had been told for my oily skin to apply a water based cream before foundation so it absorbed the cream and not my foundation, of course this did not work. I feel sad and foolish now but also happy that you explained this (one last time)! Lol!

  • hmm...he seems straight

  • nice!

  • I had seen people use scotch tape to do the same thing like these one. Just buy a roll of scotch tape cut the shape and put it on your eyelid

  • I live how the tags for thus vids talks about concealer then names a bunch of singers then at the end it says "bubzbeauty" lol

  • The tags on this video don't relate to the actual video at all...lol

  • Gracias!!

  • thanks for the tip

  • I did not know this. Thank you so much for explaining how to make the makeup stay. I'll be checking compatibility now. =)

  • THANK YOU!!

  • Oooooooh!

  • I never, ever thought about compatibility before I watched this video. THANKYOU.

  • Great video, I love how you look so frustrated saying these things lol, I have oily skin and right when you said oil and water don't mix I felt stupid and ran to check my foundation as well as my moisturizer..ha!

  • This answered so many things for me

  • can I mix my moisturizer with my primer before applying?

  • what does YOUR TATTOO THATS ON YOUR Wrist MEANS??

I LIKE IT BUT I HAVE TO KNOW TTHE MEANING BEHINED IT

  • what is the best foundation for oily skin? you talked about dry skin but my problem is that my make up melts away after my skin gets oily throughout the day

  • you are a life saver! Thank youu! <3

  • i love your little wink when you say bye ;)

    great vid by the way

  • Great tip, thank you

  • I'm in love!! Ur awesome!!

  • @gossmakeupartist if u use fix+ from mac is it necessary to set with powder? or does fix+ replace the need for powder

  • Your awesome! Thanks for that tip

  • Hey Wayne these are all good tips but my makeup always get onto my clothes especially my collar coat or shirt and when I hug my husband it gets onto his shirts. Do you have any tips on makeup not smearing onto clothes.

  • Why do you put lady gaga,Justin bieber, miley etc. in tags?to get more views?cheat

  • What is the difference between oil-based, water-based and silicone foundation? Or what kind would be good for what skin type? That should be your next video.

  • damn, my foundation is made in korea..cannot understand any of the writings

  • I just realized that this could mean that my superoily skin might need oil-based foundation.

  • owwhh now i need to buy oil-based foundation (&concealer?) to go with my foundation primer... any recommendations anyone?

  • How is this exclusive? You posted it for the world to see.

  • I know you have made mention of this subject often, but I have been waiting on one thing you had not previously mentioned. How do you tell if your moisturizer or foundation is oil based or water based? Thank you for answering that. It seems like an obvious answer, but it totally isn't to the average person. Thank you for clarifying!

  • @KianteWench he already said that at 3:23 -_-

  • @mtx019 I know. I was saying in previous videos he had not specified and that in this video he had and that it was helpful. If you are confused, please reread my comment above. Thank you.

  • just found you and sub. you are an amazing teacher. love the realness and common sense of your vids. Thank you!!!!

  • This is incredible! Wow! Thank you!

  • Im blown away! you are FANTASTIC!

  • What about mineral foundations in powder form? They're neither oil nor water based...

  • hii. check out the... bieber leaked vide0 that i moved for my pr0fiIe

  • Great tip, never thought of this!

  • i absolutely love your channel, you are a real makeup guru, great advice, cant wait for you to launch your website =)

  • Thanks for the video!

Also wait atleast 15 minutes after skincare to let your moisturizer to absorb

  • God! You're a genius...

  • u need to read the description. u must use silicone moisturizer. stop asking him again

  • it is so nice to have found your videos! thank you!

  • NEVER SAY NEVER in the description! Ohh yeah this man has swagg! Justin Bieber will be so happy ;) haha great vid

  • Your amazing ...

  • I wish there was dislike, like, and love options because I would choose the final - loved this. Thank you!

  • Than you! This was very helpful!!!!!!!! First time I hear this info.

  • So, I have CHRONIC dry skin, and have to moisturise before foundation so I don't look like a monster, would you suggest using a oil based foundation (and if so which one?) to go with my oil based moisturiser? Much love!

  • Thanks so much for repeating this tip, I've finally learned something that I didn't already know. Out of all the Makeup books and magazine articles I've read, and videos I've watched, there's never been a mention of this. I must have just been lucky......I compared the ingredients in the foundations that I use, to the primers I apply underneath them and they're all compatible ! Thanks to you, when I try a new foundation in the future, I'll be sure to check to make sure they are too !

  • where is that list???

  • Super helpful!! Thank you

  • I love nothing more than sitting back with a coffee watching your videos - I seem to learn something new and extremely useful every day! Thank you for sharing your knowledge and talent.

  • Can I use makeup Clinique repairwear (they wrote there it's oil free) with La roche posay rosaliac uv riche as a base? Does La roche is good as a base? I have a dry skin

  • Thanks great video...

  • thank you so much. it was very helpful that you explained how I can tell if it is oil or water based but how can I tell if it is silicone-based?

  • finally, something that actually makes sense. so going to ensure compatibility now!! thank you soo much. xx

  • so simple but so BRILLIANT!!!

  • thank you for all your tips :) you have made my make up life much more easier

    your videos are amazing

  • This is what I needed! Thanks!!! Xox

  • Very informative! I have always wondered about that. I only wear a light moisturizer or an oil-free sunblock before applying foundation and my (very cheap) foundation lasts all day. But I have friends who have far less oily skin, wear primers and over-priced foundations and they complain that they must reapply throughout the day and evening. Now I know why.

  • Thanx, that's really insightful!

  • you are super amazing!

  • Wayne, I was wondering when you were going to upload this list to your website? I check every day

  • does anyone know if laura mercier silk creme is oil free? or whether studio fix fluid is? or whether estee lauder double wear is? thanks xx

  • @englishgirl1988 Check the packaging (if you still have it) or the page the product is featured on the company websites, all ingredients lists and "oil-free" features should be listed! Sorry but I don't own any of the products you're asking for..a simple check on their sites would be best to be sure.

  • THIS WAS SOOOOO HELPFUL! definitely subscribing :)

  • Excellent video!! You are awesome. Wish I would have found you a long time ago, I am really enjoying and learning from your video's. Thank you

  • Can you do a video on using cream eyeshadows? Thank you

  • Love your posts. Always learning. I am a airbrush make-up user, currently dinair and my skin type is oily. Is there a primer you might recommend to help the foundation last longer? I am also considering Kett Hydro after your recommendation so how do I best prep my skin?

  • Where's the list?

  • WOW, quality advice.

I had a DOH! moment while watching this video lol. So simple and purely common sense lol

My foundation never lasts I would apply it with whatever method mornings before school and it would disappear by noon. this advice coupled with your video on how to apply powder with a powder puff rather than a brush has noticeably improved the longevity and texture of my foundation. thanks!

  • Thank you!!! I found this to be very helpful!!!!

  • OMG, you're wonderful =D I've wondered why this same thing happens with all my foundations LOL. Ty so much <3

  • I know it's off topic but my eyes get really watery so it gets hard for my eye makeup to stay longer I use nars eye primer but it smudges. Also when I put my foundation around my nose and I sneeze my foundation wipes off! Wat do you suggest? Thanks xoxo

  • is the list on the blog yet?

  • Do I have to use foundation as a base? I never do. I put moisturizer on my face one or two hours before I apply my powder.

  • what is your view on BB creams...they seem to be getting alot of talk.I know they are supposed to be "all in one"...they seem thick, but i just dont see how one shade could match everyone?would you apply a foundation over a bb cream?

  • I am very sensitive to sunscreens...only have been able to find one or two that doesn't irritate my skin or cause breakouts. However,it is not a primer and is quite slick looking (Kate Somerville serum sunscreen spf 55).So,would using a primer or sunscreen be better? i think spf for the health of my skin, but it does feel like my smashbox primer helps deslick my combo-dry skin prior to fpoundation.I usually use a vit c serum first, moisturizer if needed,spf,primer...seems like too much?

  • This makes so much sense!! Haha..when you were saying about a primer with SPF the Clinique City Block is a primer with SPF 40 or the Sheer City Block with SPF 15.. You probably know that already but just for other people too. Love your videos! Really helpful! :)

  • Well said.

  • I absolutely never knew that. I have oily skin (mostly) and only moisturize at bedtime. In the AM I cleanse, but I do use a primer. I'm now going to check it it's loaded with oil. Or if my foundation is. This is great news because my foundation never, ever lasts, and it's always sliding off. I DO dab on Vichy dermablend but isn't that designed to stay pretty put? I'm going to be reading labels now for sure and make wiser choices. Ditto Wayne, you need your own makeup line. I'll buy from you!

  • Dahhhh!!! Lol I wish everybody on mua would watch this

  • sooo smart! this has helped me tremendously

  • wow this is really really informaive wayne! thank you for sharing! we really appreciate all the information! more vidz like this please!

  • Thanks

  • This makes so much sense to me! I've been searching about why my concealer creases even when I put primer under my eyes and NEVER thought that it was because I always put moisturizer before I do my makeup, THX! I didn't even consider it. Duh!

  • would powder mineral makeup be oil or water based?

  • @muimui150x Powder mineral makeup does not contain oil or water, it is mineral based. Mineral makeup is best for normal to oily skin as it looks more natural after it has absorbed sebum. Also, you do not have to worry about mineral makeup sliding off your face.

  • @muimui150x .. It's a powder lol I don't think so

    It's dry xD

  • @muimui150x powder is powder but if the first ingredient is aqua water then its water based

  • Best Foundation Primer, PLEASE!

  • Best Foundation Primer, PLEASE!

  • i dont use moisturiser or anything and my foundation STILL doesn't last! i haven't found a good foundation for my skin yet :(

  • This is soooooooo smart. Thank you for the video. I would never have thought of that "like to like" but you are so right. I have also always noticed that my makeup applies much better and stays on when I do less skin care and let it wait 5-10 min to soak in before I do my foundation. I think that is why I always think it looks better when I do my own makeup instead of MAC, because they always load up the moisturizer first.

  • Your a genius, i had never even thought about it :-S

  • How do you keep brown?

  • *wink*

  • It's just like painting a room. You can't go in with an acrylic paint over an oil based paint! You always have such good sense Wayne. :)

  • How do I know if my foundation is water-based?

  • ...iloveyou... Can i borrow your brain? :D

  • I just found this site today and I love it! Used to use model in a bottle everyday for about 2 to 3 years. I had noticed the changes in my skin, but it worked so well I kept using. Well I ran out and no longer needed everday I wasn't wearing makeup as much and I do see a difference in my skin. What do we do about transferance for everyday wear I hate makeup on my white clothes. I was buying it from a popular retail TV show and they stop selling I wondered why, but I guess now I know.

  • This makes so much sence. and your so right .. we dont think about this thing. water and oil will never mix.. thanks!
