hey how aout you actually try to kill stuff so you can get better weapons and instead of the plasma storm just upgrade your pulse cannon. first level on LORD difficulty is actually quite easy still

Is there a particular reason you used hypercam to record and not dosbox's built-in recorder? You don't get the stupid tag or the edges of the window either. Just a suggestion...

Wow, this is pretty cool. I love Tyrian, but the best I've been able to do is suicide difficulty. Guess you guys have more skill than I.

Today I started a run on suicide difficulty. Beat tyrian's boss without any plasma storms, got 60k off of soh jin (probably cheating but hey), got asteroid? off of asteroid1 and got stuck there. The needle ship duet at the end is augh - and once I got a strategy for dispatching them down, I keep dieing in the ending gauntlet. I know I can do it, I'm just not managing it.

I got stuck there too, and sort of stopped, but then my friend found the file and he tried it out and he eventually got past, even though my ship was kinda shitty

i used to play it on lord difficult on my old Pentium 133... then i got a new computer, awesome and all... and this $#%#@%@%@ keyboard CAN'T type L+O+R+D >____>

try running setup.exe in dosbox and mess w/ it until both sound and music work

I did this one time and recorded it using the same tactic but I can't find it. Then I did it again and bought some weapons and the custom Gencore generator. It was just as difficult except for the boss battle which was MUCH harder. At the end of the level though, if you go the weapon route you get a lot more credits.

If you don't get the plasma storm you can't go to bubbles though. It's kind of a trade off.

One hint: Plasma storm is a must. In the first 2 episodes you will hardly be able to kill anything. But in some areas you have no chance of survival without destroying certain enemies. For that Plasma storm is perfect. It does insane amounts of damage in a very short time. Also many bosses can be killed instantly with the 12 charges you can have.

If you got stuck at a level it's probably because you sold your Plasma storm at the second video.

I just managed to beat the game at Lord difficulty.

At first I had doubts if it's possible with 'normal' human (non-inhuman) abilities... your video convinced me that it probably is.

The hardest levels are the first few ... and a few hard ones up until episode 3. Some of them took me probably 30-50 tries... had to memorize it completely and then still be lucky.

Once you get the laser in Episode 3 things get a lot easier though.

Hey guys I have a question. There are some secret moves in the game, some specific for a ship, some specific for a mode.

For example if you press [down arrow + fire] while flying one of Gencore ships you will trade whole shield bar for armor repair.

So here's my question - Does anybody know if there is a list of those moves in the net? I know - these are spoilers, but I just HATE to look for those moves in the game. And in super-tyrian mode these moves are practically your main weapon.

I finished LORD difficulty on many many tries. It took me ages to get trough the Gryphon stages. Even with LASER and ZICA sidekicks on full strenght and SONIC WAVE on rear it took me almost 2 weeks to get it all done :P

Nice work, I don't think I have even done the first level on Lord difficulty, though if I did, I would have had a lot of trouble on it.

A little tip, if you change the graphic settings to low, it removes the cone field of view and most of the clouds so you can see the ships underneath them.

Yes, they are the same, unless if you were holding down the Scroll Lock while typing ENGAGE in the main menu (in which case the difficulty would be Suicide).

they realy need to make keyboards that have that triangle patern of keys pressed = dont accpet entry thing disabled that are specificaly designed for gamers.

it's an old habit, cause if you are firing a lot your generator gets too busy generating shots rather than healing your shield
