can anyone help me? i have a optio e50 and the zoom/ sticky out bit is jammed. the second part that slides out is slightly pushed in but it HAS NOT been dropped. It can turn on, but it just says "lens error" then turns off. HELP?
I bought my A20 in 2006 which worked ok till yesterday. It failed to retract the lens while making funny sounds as if a motor was jammed. Recharched the battery but that didn't helped either. It even didn't want to start-up and I feared something bad happened with the firmware. Came across your vid, opened my A20 and noticed that the motor of the focusing mechanism was making the strange noises. Closer look showed sand particles on the screw thread.
yeah!! okay I've got a the same camera, and I took it apart to replace the screen, now I put it back together, and it turns on for about 3 secs then turns off, it also makes a noise, which it didn't before, I think something might be stuck like yours, is that what got?? The sound is like a cog, clickling by the way
Sounds exactly right - as I remember, it's at the bottom of the unit, under the screen - I just fiddled around with the mechanism a bit while turning it on and off...hope that helps!!!
The video just shows the steps for disassembling the camera - I'd already fixed the problem prior to this. The thing I'm pointing at with the screwdriver is what was jammed in my case.

To finish the story, carefully cleaned the focusing mechanism, reassembled my A20 and it works fine again. You saved me a lot of money! thanks bro!
