i dunno wtf you're smoking but montreal isn't the worst place at all. we have everything at the tip of our fingers. if you live in the countryside, takes bout half an hour to get to a store to get food or somethin. in montreal? 2-3 minutes. both by car, btw. montreal's an urban center, just like many other places, and it suffers some disadvantages, but doesn't have as much as advantages.
In Montreal though, you don't need a car. It's one of the very few big cities in North america where you can walk. One of the many reasons it is also among the best cities in N.A.

Tell me that when you buy, outright, a lovely house downtown or close by with no mortgage (if you played the Vancouver housing game well in the last 15 years) :-)
With the money you're not spending on housing, get a condo in financially-strapped Florida and do what Quebeckers do: spend at least two weeks down there every winter.
When I win the lottery, I am *so* going home to Montreal! I miss seasons.
Montreal is a great city-I was born there, so it's my hometown, and I have been back to visit many times, both winter and summer.
But I've been here for 20 years, so this is a hard thing to do. You know that winter there is harsh and soooo loooong. I do have a house in the 'burbs waiting for me though.
when and if it snows in van. it stays for the afternoon. when you are used to that anything else is harsh and looooong. for sure. although a nice sunny day with the snow crunching underfoot, not bad i must say, and yes it does beat the gloomy, rain, but enough is enough already.

wow i remember helpin my mom shovelin the car lik dat lol wen i used to live in mtl lol. i feel so sry for the people that has to take lik 30 min to shovel the snow from thier carn while here in brossard its easier.

To thornton19toews who keeps harping about Quebec separatism: quit it. If everyone were a separatist, Quebec would have been a country ages ago. You sound juvenile and uneducated. Go to Quebec, you'll see it's an inclusive, tolerant society and that separatism is on the back burner.
Great clip, I've had to dig my car out a number of times, so I can sympathise! To those interested in Quebec, please come visit the province. It's a great place! Just expect crazy amounts of snow in winter!
Thank you for your comment. I really want to move there. There is so much culture there. I love the buildings. Plus I speak French so I think I will love it here. What can you tell me about life quality there on average?
great life quality, the best in north america is in quebec city ive heard but i also heard montreal is 3rd best so i take it to be pretty awesome here , when theres big storms like this theirs always the metro and stuff wich run pretty much anywhere, you should search information about montreal and go visit there before moving but i think that after the visit you will like it so much that you will move there definatly =)
Well to tell you the truth I have been reading and searching for information on Montreal since a year and a half ago. I already know many things about Quebec in general. However, I am concerned because, even though I speak French and I like it, I am originally from Havana (Cuba) and I see almost everywhere people saying that quebecers are particularly racist. Is that true at all?
no dont worry montreal is a very multi etnic comunity, i have a friends some of them are black some are hispanics, the only people remotely near racist are some living in like the country and are particulary old, this might be me only beeing 16 but i have never seen anything remotely racist living all my life here, theres problems on the reasonable way to act towards people from other religions since some people think its going to far but again, old people so i wouldnt say true
There are racist idiots in every fucking city in the world...wake up! I lived in Montreal for 10 years and NOT ONCE did I witness or hear of anything close to racism...so it can't be that bad. Geez, give me break.
At 19 years old, you couldn't recognise a seperatist if he/she came over and knocked you on your ass! And besides, most seperatists are in fact quite tolerant and very open to other cultures. The Fete Nationale parade includes all ethnic groups to showcase themselves so we can't be that bad!
Quebec is quite the contrary a very tolerant place. Especially Montreal which has every race imaginable. Remember that what some people call racism are isolated incidents. I have been to many large cities around the world and it's incredible how everyone just gets along here. It's not perfect but good. The people who live in the small towns outside in Quebec are more traditional and they are more racist. But there is never violence and if so, it's an isolated case.
I would love to hear how that list you got that info from defined 'quality of living'... . I know that *that* is pretty much killed by housing (rental *and* buying).
If you're not part of a stable dual-income partnership or making +$50,000 a year singularly, you're hooped 'round Vangroovy.
If you can handle the French easily, Montreal, hands-down, has a better standard of living in my experience.
omg i live in rosemont i know exactly how you feel , shoveling all day sucks but at the end of the day its still worth it living in such a great city like ours ^^ go montreal!
tell me about it. it was some harsh weather outside. i had 20 something meters in the west islands. it was white as far as the eye can see. so i hired a snowblower to clean my drive way.
lmao yeah definetly a slap in the face of a shock for us that Storm was. It was totally unexpected that storm...(on a meme pas eu de l'ecole a cause de la tempete):P
ohh man i used to live in montreal haha i know what that guys going trough crazyy Vive Le poutine and vive The montreal Canadians {aka: Roy, Leubau, Damphousse, Savard, Etc....

C'est déprimant de constaté la mauvaise qualité du langage dans les commentaires en "français". C'est vrai ce que dit Foglia dans la Presse. Excellent video en passant.

good to know your points of view, thanks. I can't wait to move in there. Attends-moi Montréal!
new2ici 4 years ago
Damn, can't you people stop talking about separatism all the time? LinxEyeDotCA made a pretty cool vid and even here it's always about this subject.
Knock it off, Montreal is much more than this debate.
pignonMZ6 4 years ago

What can you tell me about life quality there on average?
new2ici 4 years ago
great life quality, the best in north america is in quebec city ive heard but i also heard montreal is 3rd best so i take it to be pretty awesome here , when theres big storms like this theirs always the metro and stuff wich run pretty much anywhere, you should search information about montreal and go visit there before moving but i think that after the visit you will like it so much that you will move there definatly =)
ngfrost 4 years ago
Well to tell you the truth I have been reading and searching for information on Montreal since a year and a half ago. I already know many things about Quebec in general. However, I am concerned because, even though I speak French and I like it, I am originally from Havana (Cuba) and I see almost everywhere people saying that quebecers are particularly racist. Is that true at all?
new2ici 4 years ago
no dont worry montreal is a very multi etnic comunity, i have a friends some of them are black some are hispanics, the only people remotely near racist are some living in like the country and are particulary old, this might be me only beeing 16 but i have never seen anything remotely racist living all my life here, theres problems on the reasonable way to act towards people from other religions since some people think its going to far but again, old people so i wouldnt say true
ngfrost 4 years ago 3
Racism against hispanics, no. Racism against Europeans, no. Racism against Blacks, yes. Racism against Asians, yes.
It all depends really.
Dublian 4 years ago
There are racist idiots in every fucking city in the world...wake up! I lived in Montreal for 10 years and NOT ONCE did I witness or hear of anything close to racism...so it can't be that bad. Geez, give me break.
marcbelisle 4 years ago
i guess you are deaf. i live in montreal and this guy is probably a separatist
thornton19toews 4 years ago
At 19 years old, you couldn't recognise a seperatist if he/she came over and knocked you on your ass! And besides, most seperatists are in fact quite tolerant and very open to other cultures. The Fete Nationale parade includes all ethnic groups to showcase themselves so we can't be that bad!
marcbelisle 4 years ago
Quebec is quite the contrary a very tolerant place. Especially Montreal which has every race imaginable. Remember that what some people call racism are isolated incidents. I have been to many large cities around the world and it's incredible how everyone just gets along here. It's not perfect but good. The people who live in the small towns outside in Quebec are more traditional and they are more racist. But there is never violence and if so, it's an isolated case.

Good to know your perception. Donc, attends moi Montréal, j'y irai dès que je le pourrai!
new2ici 4 years ago
Vancouver has the highest quality of living in the world. Toronto is third, and Montréal is fifth.
Dublian 4 years ago
must of change
ngfrost 4 years ago
I would love to hear how that list you got that info from defined 'quality of living'... . I know that *that* is pretty much killed by housing (rental *and* buying).
If you're not part of a stable dual-income partnership or making +$50,000 a year singularly, you're hooped 'round Vangroovy.
If you can handle the French easily, Montreal, hands-down, has a better standard of living in my experience.

I know it's not easy to do this almost every morning, I also live in Montreal. But on the other hand, we're not fat.

I too live in Cote des Neiges, know exactly how it feel. But I love shoveling anyway.
fh5516 4 years ago
omg i live in rosemont i know exactly how you feel , shoveling all day sucks but at the end of the day its still worth it living in such a great city like ours ^^ go montreal!
