  • Stall is at 2800, Trans is the factory 46RE with a transgo shift kit. The trans damaged itself pretty quickly after the build and I had a place called Auto Trans Design rebuild it. Not a problem since.

  • nice. stall? maybe 150

  • Is it just me,or does that thing sound like it has a powerglide in it?

  • I was thinking about swapping a new 6.1L HEMI (370Cu.) in my 2002 Durango. Would this be cheaper ?

The motor im looking at is $5,100 + someone to install it for me..

  • Damn that thing sounds mean! I had ear buds in and when you first started it up I thought my ear drums were gone!

  • Awww shoulda stood on it man lol nice job on the motor.

  • slow

  • id love to see the first mustang attempting to race that

  • sweet ride dude! check mine out!

  • my 4cyl nissan versa would smoke that.... 6 speed

  • It sure sounds good.!

  • hey if you dont mind would you send me your complete build sheet? just pulled the motor and tranny in my 1996 indy ram, dunno what parts i should use for the 408 build. Thanks

  • click... your welcome

  • I totalled my Dakota during an Icestorm in Northwest Arkansas man do I miss that Truck it was a 1996 not best truck in snow

  • take that truck to California and you have a sleeper that you can make $. judging by your video it looks like you live in Iowa with no smog check crap?

  • nov2529 where have u been r/t dakotas are all over the place.

  • never heard of an r/t dakota

  • Nice! I am not a MOPAR person, and I still like this truck. Good job!

  • love your truck!

  • where can u find an air cleaner like that?????

  • @bishopdone its just a K&N filter man .. im pretty shure they sell htem at walmart for god sakes

  • Fucking awsome!!

  • is this one still throttle body or is it carbureted

  • Awesome r/t man, It's nice to see a clean 408 r/t. Not many like that around. Good job on the build, and let us know what it makes on a dyno if you get it tuned..

  • omg yummy! 408 strokers FTW ! nice work man nad beautiful truck :-)

  • ive a got a 2000 dodge dakota with a 360 in it and ive been wanting to build it into a 408. about how much does it cost to do it?

  • Look up on Ebay they have the kits plus your engine has to be bored out and crank line bored good luck finding a machine shop to do that

  • Look up on Ebay they have the kits plus your engine has to be bored out and crank line bored good luck finding a machine shop to do that but you could find a crate motor already done for about 3 grand or more

  • Thats badass!!!

  • I'd love to get a 408 for my Dakota... And that MBRP muffler kit with the cuda tips. :)

  • throtle body my friend

  • carboureted?

  • Nope, that's fuel injection.

  • oh ok itd had the top air cleaner so i thought it wasnt fuel-injected

  • @bcschanen What's up with the old skool air filter then? lol

  • @94EglVisionTSI No it just typical Chrysler behind the times crap.

  • I hope civic cracker is not serious about getting a spoiler for more traction from a stop.

  • Very nice truck. I'm doing a 408 stroker on my 86 dodge ram. Back pressure? on a motor like that? lol its not a damn civic. Anyways, take it to the drags and see what it gets, throw some slicks under it first though lol.

  • what did it take to stroke ur 360 to a 408

  • What kind of headlights are those?? Im Trying to find some for my 03 Dodge Dakota, and don't what they are called..

  • They're called "clear corners". The main portion of the headlight on my truck is stock, the corner & running lights are aftermarket. I purchased the clear corners off of ebay (search for "dakota clear corners") along with the sylvania running lights/turn signals- they look blue when off and yellow when lit... pretty cool actually. Anything else I can help with?

  • Nah im good, thx man

  • actually ya i do, when i was lookin for the headlights i typed in dodge dakota clear corners nd all it shows is the bottom part of the headlight and turn signal, it doesnt show the whole light??

  • That is correct. The parts you found are the ones on my truck. The main portion of the light on my truck is still stock. I only replaced the bottom part (running lights / turn signals) and the corner portion.

  • I had an exaust hanging like that for a while lol. No cat, no muffler. Sounded badass, but slow due to no backpressure.

  • Haha if I'm losing power to the backpressure I don't notice it right now, at the moment I can't hook up through all of first gear. Was that setup on your excalade?

  • lol I don't have an Escalade, that's just my screen name. I actually have an '89 S10 Blazer.

Since your engine is modded, you may not have any issue with backpresure. Mine is stock, so it feels the backpressure pains a lot lol. Oh well. I'm building my own true dual exaust on it, anyway.

  • not just the dakota sports but all of them have 5 speeds

  • You poor uneducated soul, my only hope is that some day you will be able to use your God-given talent, and LEARN.

No dakota r/t's came with manuals.

  • where are you getting your info from?

  • here's a source for ya: w w w . dodgedakotart . c o m

  • yeah thanks vette for saying the same exact shit that BCS said. its real helpful.

  • He does not have a damn clue what he is talking about. Yes, regular Dakots's did come standard with a 5 speed, but it was an option to get an auto. The R/T came with an auto from the factory. Simple as that. hahaha

  • @RedHohner fucking dumbass

  • besides, why the hell would you buy an after market 5 speed rather than getting a stock OEM trans from the dealer but they wouldnt need to anyways because ALL Dakotas from 97 to 04 came with a 5 speed standard EVERYONE OF THEM!

  • Please, just look up your information. Be sure that you are searching for a dakota R/T, not just a normal dakota. Every single dakota r/t came from the factory with an auto. An oem manual trans would not handle the power that my truck has, nor do I really plan on putting in a manual trans any time soon.

Is it possible that you are confusing my truck with a dakota sport? There were quite a few of those that came with 5spd manuals.

  • not every one ever made most came with a 5 speed

  • i love how you have a modded R/T with an auto haha even when 5speed transmissions were standard

  • Every single Dakota R/T ever made came from the factory with a 46RE automatic tranny. There are, however, a couple guys that have spent the money to put in an aftermarket manual trans.

Check your facts next time before posting- it's for your own good.

  • Your 18. You do not know everything!! He is right, your wrong. ADMIT IT!

  • no you ass i have a Dakota and ive had one for the last 3 and a half years. i know my fair share about the damn truck, unlike you.

  • I happen to be an Automotive Mechanic, and the 97-04 Dakotas did come with a manual tranny standard, but the R/Ts had an Auto tranny with sport suspension. The regular Dakotas had the option for an auto tranny instead of the 5 sp. If you would like, just look it up on the web. I'm sure you will see that you are wrong.

  • Thanks for the added help vette.

  • no RT ever came with a 5 speed. they are all automatics.

  • @RedHohner you fucking los45 ass bastard son

  • @sethclark100 have anything better to do than prowl on peoples YouTube comments and call them childish names? My guess is no.

  • @RedHohner haha fuck off budy

  • Probably the same time that the subaru drivers finally admit that subaru doesn't make a great engine for their cars. "Dude, like gui subaru makes a great engine for their car" - Subaru driver "O..M..G.. Like Dude, gui... No they don't, Porsche does." - Me

  • Dude, seriously put a hood on that truck, the hinges look retarded. Your gaining any power or anything. Jeez! I also suggest a spoiler for more traction from a stop. When will you muscleheads learn?

  • Thanks for watching! I hope you're one of my friends joking with me, because I don't want to honestly have to start a debate on youtube.

  • Your name is an oxymoron. You forgot the decimal point between the 4 and the 1. Go buy a real car with a real motor...

  • I hope civic cracker is not serious about getting a spoiler for more traction from a stop. Talk about retarded. I bet you have a 5lb water head. Badass truck dude. 5 stars!!

  • man, i'm 15, and i know that if you have a spoiler it's for down force from wind not weight, i can't stand all these people that drive around in their civics, thinkin they're cool.

    MUSCLE FOREVER!!!!!!

  • Thank you sir!

  • nice truck man. i have a dakota r/t, and i want to start adding some things to mae it quicker. were do u think i should start off?

  • cold air intake, pipes

  • what camshaft did u use in the 408 and where can i get one like it

  • what size cam did u use in the 408 and where can i get one

  • i don't think i've ever seen anything take off like that, i mean i probably have but shit that looks good. sounds great too.

  • bcs, you know the older style sb mopar trans like the 904 and 727 will bolt right up to the M.P.I. motors, all you have to do is cut a notch in the bell housing of the trans so the crank sensor will fit through, and just a bit of trans mout mods, pretty much just some risers off of the crossmember, and a change in shaft length

  • Nice. We have a few 408's on DTO as well. I have a 360 built by KRC. I have horror stories about them though. My trucks been setting for a few years but last week I brought it back to my house and started messing with it some and trying an SCT Tuner. Check out DTO and my videos and give me a PM on the site!

  • how much power did stroking the motor come out to...i have a modified 03 R/T and im thinkin about strokin it or supercharging the 360

  • I haven't put it on the dyno yet. My brother's durango (see it in my other videos) is a similar engine (404ci) and it makes a little over 500hp, and 525tq. It can be expensive, depending on what parts you decide to use, but it's definetly worth it.

  • were do you get the parts at to make this beast

  • Holy shit! So... How much vaseline did it take to slip that monster in there???

  • Haha, it's actually the same block that comes in the R/T's. It's a 360ci bored 0.030" over and with a 4" stroker crank. That adds up to right around 408 cubic inches. And, without much suprise here, I'm currently having some tranny problems due to the added power. Hopefully I can get a better tranny in it over the winter.

  • Omg that thing is a fuckin beast wow when he took off he was in like 1st or 2nd gear wow im gonna put together a 302 in a ranger but no matter what ill do to it this truck will still kill mine fuck nice truck thow

  • Babyin' it's a good idea, Dodge Tranny's have a hard time holding together for stock 318's.

  • Not when built properly :)

  • That is fuckin nasty! good work man!
