This singer was my Dad's favorite. This song played in our house on an old "Hi-Fi" along with all the stars from that day. I too grew up with Burl Ives, Dean Martin, Jo Stafford, Julie London, Jim Reeves on and on. On the television we watched Bonanza, Red Skelton, Milton Berle, Arthur Godfrey. We didn't know it but that was such a gentle innocent time compared to what we have today. I miss it greatly as I get older.

If you grew up in the ? 50's to the 70's? Who did not like Burl Ives! His voice was incredibly melodious! His songs were catchy and you wanted to sing along. I loved watching him on the Disney movies and listening to him sing. I actually have the VHS copy of "So Dear to my Heart" Starring "Burl Ives" one of Walt Disney's most cherished films. Every now and when I want to watch a great old fashioned movie classic? I pull it out, dust off my VCR and enjoy Burl Ives all over again!

Burl Ives was a very good actor and an outstanding song interpreter, one of my favorite singers. In my opinion, he was a little better singer than Bing Crosby, but he didn't have the opportunity to sing with the beautiful women Bing sang with such as Peggy Lee, Dinah Shore, Doris Day, Rosemary Clooney, probably because he wasn't good looking enough like Bing. Just looking at Burl makes me laugh and puts a smile on my face.
