  • my uncle told me bout this

  • "Count Basie Orchestra on triangle."

    *ding!*

    LOL!

  • LOL this is so brilliant and timeless. Thanks for posting.

  • "And looking very relaxed on vibes - Adolf Hitler"

    Priceless!

  • The piece was written by Bonzo member Vivian Stanshall, who also provides the vocal. Stanshall first introduces the members of the Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band, who are credited with their actual instruments, over a vamp that resembles Duke Ellington’s "C-Jam Blues".

    dr demento show

  • It is not so much a song as a comic monologue, in which the speaker introduces the musicians who ostensibly appear on the recording, and the track fades out before the emcee completes the introductions and without the "orchestra" being able to play anything more than a vamp.

    dr demento show

  • is this the b side to urban spaceman

this song was a dr demento faveorite

  • For bonus points name the artist, and song where the melody originates.

  • I have been looking for this few years. Merry Christmas!

  • In Stockport we had a pub with this on the juke.

    NAME THAT PUB

  • "Count Basie Orchestra on triangle" xD

  • "Roy Rogers and Trigger...

Count Basie and His Orchestra on triangle...

    Brainiac on banjo ...

Val Doonican as himself ("hello there!") ...

J Arthur Rank on gong ..."

(That's odd, I could have sworn Adolf Hitler was in there too - did he get censored?)

  • @odeonphile No, he's still looking very relaxed on vibes

  • MMMMM...thats nice Max

  • "Roy Rogers on Trigger..." and you hear a horse pissing! LOL

  • and Val Doonican

    "Hullo there!"

  • Count Basie Orchestra on triangle ! haha.

Thanks for sharing this marvelous poetry !

  • Very funny classic!! Fact- Clapton was the only one other than the Bonzo to actually play on this!!!!!!!!! Correct me if I am wrong

  • ISNT IT HILARIOUS

  • Excellent!

  • Wonderful, many thanks

  • Liberace should have played the flute.

  • @uncromulent

No, he was more one for the pink oboe. But don't tell his mother.

  • ntroducing Liberace, clarinet With Garner "Ted" Armstrong on vocals. [Jazzy scat singing] Lord Snooty and his pals, tap dancing. In the groove with Harold Wilson , violin And Franklin McCormack on harmonica. Over there, Eric Clapton, ukulele. Hi Eric! On my left Sir Kenneth Clark, bass sax. A great honour, sir. And specially flown in for us, the session's gorilla on vox humana. Nice to see Incredible Shrinking Man on euphonium.
  • @VinylFun Vox Triviae: Garner "Ted" was a radio preacher originally for the Worldwide Church of God; Franklyn MacCormick was a late-night Chi.-area D.J. of 50+ yr ago: known for playing classical music & reading poetry on the air. Neither was likely known outside G.B.

  • Yep, a Sony PS-5520 turntable. Had one of those 35 years ago. (it's the headshell.....)

  • count basie orch on triangle; genius

  • Wonderful stuff. Why are there no (intentionally) funny groups at present?

  • While it's more of a country music parody, you might want to check out the Doyle & Debbis Show. Very funny stuff

  • neil innes so underated listen to the ruttles stuff written in a couple of days apparently used to watch the innes book of records

  • I loved these guys, still do! My dad played all their stuff in house day and night! The nejghborhood kids all came to our house to hear it but the dog lost his mind and had to be put in a home! My dad invited General DE Gaulle to spend the night and the next day the Secret Service took my dad away for a coupla hours. Never spoke again and mama left town with a carpet cleaner salesman who cleaned her carpet

  • o m g my dad and ur dad should meet up

  • Good luck with this. My versions just been removed due to a copyright claim by Archbuild Limited. The bas****s.

  • Thanks for the warning.

  • All seriousness aside, I loved your stuff from the 1st minute. I played it for MY kids and their schoolmates, who also loved it.

God Bless all of you wherever you may be!

  • @maolchalium

Was that the "Do Not Adjust Your Set" version? I don't know what they hope to do with that footage- I imagine they have a lot more than they put out on those double DVD packs.

  • @anonUK It was just an audio track I'd had on tape for years. No idea where I got it from.
