The guy who desmond accidently killed was saved by the purge because he was underground pushing the button and had no idea that they were dead because he was told that if he came out of the hatch he would be effected by radiation

Well if something helps the horse problem, The others kept animals that they ate in a part of the island. We saw cows and chickens, maybe a horse could have escaped from the others. For the polar bear, all i ever heard ont he show was that the others kept 'bears' in cages. They never said what kind of bears thoe.
the island can have polar bears because as its always moving at one point it was in an extremely cold place so the islands climate would have changed, also when charlotte was off island she found a dharma initiative bear buried in the desert.

The polar bears were used as dharma test animals, you are right about that. The horse being a hallucination is the most sensible answer but knowing lost you never know. Rouseau did arrive on a ship with a team of scientists, but my theory is that they were killed when ben killed his father, and the rest of the dharma initiative was killed. and the statue looks like it was broken, not incomplete.
do you guys remember the bright light when Desmond turned the fail-safe key in the season 2 finale? I think i know why the light appered. In The Swan station structure there could've been magnesium or magnesium alloy in use. Recall the metallic wall near the mural, that could've been made of magnesium. During the swan implosion the magnesium could've ignited from a blast in the bunker resulting in the bright light.
The magnesium would have a basic and dull oxide layer - unless of course there was no oxygen down there, Either way you'd need something to polish the magnesium first. Either way the metal down there was already quite bright meaning it probably wasn't magnesium.

i think polar bears came when the island moved somewhere icy ...
we all know now who the others are and dharma ... somehow ... but more answers are coming in season five ... such as danielle the french lady ...
not come to think about the leg and old ship ... i understand ... but i can't tell coz some of u didn't watch season five ...
the concept of s5 will explain some of this ...

the polar bears were used for turning the wheel in the cold room that ben was in, so humans wouldnt be banished from the island, that is why charlotte found polar bear remains in the tunisian desert, and same reason why ben was in the same desert after turning the wheel

the polar bears where put on the island for tests and the horse was a hallucination, the french woman came 2 the islan on a boat with a team cus they herd a radio wich they couldent hear quite wat it was sayng then she thot all of them cus they got ill and i have no idea y theres a 4 toed statue mabie the guys who built it couldent be botherd 2 finish it :)

The polar bears were used as dharma test animals, you are right about that. The horse being a hallucination is the most sensible answer but knowing lost you never know. Rouseau did arrive on a ship with a team of scientists, but my theory is that they were killed when ben killed his father, and the rest of the dharma initiative was killed. and the statue looks like it was broken, not incomplete.

do you guys remember the bright light when Desmond turned the fail-safe key in the season 2 finale? I think i know why the light appered. In The Swan station structure there could've been magnesium or magnesium alloy in use. Recall the metallic wall near the mural, that could've been made of magnesium. During the swan implosion the magnesium could've ignited from a blast in the bunker resulting in the bright light.

The magnesium would have a basic and dull oxide layer - unless of course there was no oxygen down there, Either way you'd need something to polish the magnesium first. Either way the metal down there was already quite bright meaning it probably wasn't magnesium.
