  • Um, nobody forces the WGA to do anything. If they weren't demanding that IATSE gigs be transferred to the WGA writers, the AMPTP wouldn't have walked out. Don't strike and blame it on someone else. And does anybody think that, for each and every show, it's ok for 200-300 people to get laid off so that 5-6 writers can sit on ass at home on stike? I thought it was the networks and not the working man that the WGA was pissed at?

  • Wow you people are stupid. Judging by the comments, I'm guessing none of you really know what's going on. The AMPTP is keeping us in Iraq!?!?! That's right - we blew up the WTC too.

  • AMPTP never negotiated seriously. They forced this strike. Their attempts at dividing the WGA are clumsy and doomed to failure.

  • The AMPTP website is so bad you almost think it's a joke.

  • This union is part of the AFL-CIO, and part of the State apparatus that keeps us in Iraq. Yeah, let's support them. Freedomainradio dot com

  • Nick Counter and the AMPTP have put thousands out of work with their bad faith negotiations. Happy Holidays from the AMPTP!

  • Nick Counter has devoted his life to winning negotiations, not to helping workers and companies find a fair deal. When this man dies, he will leave a legacy of people who hate him and that's the saddest legacy of all.

  • The AMPTP cut off negotiations while thousands of people in Hollywood go without work. Why doesn't the AMPTP negotiate?

Here's what happened. The AMPTP threw an ultimatum at the WGA - in writing, drop six of your negotiation positions or we walk out. The WGA refused to bow to the bully tactics and wanted to negotiate instead. But the AMPTP walked and cut of negotiations.

  • Yeah, because they were asking for ridiculous positions. They weren't asked to give up the 4 extra cents - they were asked to give up demands like "The WGA will be in charge of all animated features instead of the IATSE." SINCE THE 50S that was IATSE's gig. And ESPECIALLY the "sympathy strike" clause. That means the WGA can go on strike AGAIN, at any time, just because some other union went on stike. That is total BS. The WGA writers SHOULD get their residuals. That's it.

  • Patric Verrone is a great leader who understands that we are starving for entertainment during this difficult but necessary struggle against corporate greed and malfeasance. (Yes, I said malfeasance!)
